My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 525: Lin Jie's Girlfriend

For Chinese New Year this year, Lin Jie was bringing his girlfriend to meet the family elders, including his parents. Therefore, Lin Feng changed his plans and decided to return to Meicheng for the holiday to size up the situation for his younger brother.

In the blink of an eye, only one week remained until the New Year.

Lin Feng's family and Lin Jiajun's family traveled together back home to Meicheng. Upon arriving at the airport, Lin Dashan and Zhou Cuilan, along with Lin Daan's family, had already been waiting for some time.

"Oh, my precious babies are back! Let Grandma have a look. Have you put on some weight?"

"Mmm, everyone has put on a little weight, except for Sanbao. How come you don't seem to have gained any? Are you on a diet?"

Sanbao shook her head. "Grandma, you know perfectly well that I take after Mom. I can't gain weight no matter how much I eat."

Zhou Cuilan waved it off. "You still need to eat well. It's not good for girls to be too skinny; it weakens your immune system."

A flicker of helplessness crossed Sanbao's eyes.

"Alright, I'll listen to you, Grandma. In that case, will you make me something delicious later, please?"

Si Bao quickly chimed in, "Grandma, I want some of your cooking too!"

Er Bao sidled up. "Grandma, don't forget me! I have a big appetite!"

Dabao, who had gone to retrieve the luggage, returned and asked curiously, "What are you all talking about?"

Zhou Cuilan was overjoyed to have her four grandsons gathered around her. Lin Dashan had already taken his granddaughter from Lin Feng's arms, his face wreathed in a benevolent smile.

"Xiaobao, do you remember Grandpa? It's me, Grandpa!"

"Oh my, our Xiaobao is growing up to be so pretty! You're going to be a real beauty one day!"

Xiaobao was now five months old. Ever since her one-month celebration, they had mostly seen their granddaughter through video calls. In Lin Dashan's arms, Xiaobao stared at him with wide, curious eyes.

Lin Dashan teased her, "What are you looking at? Did you forget your grandpa already?"

Zhou Cuilan leaned in, her face full of joy. "Oh, Xiaobao really is getting more and more beautiful!"

"Come here, let Grandma hold you! Oh, this little one is quite sturdy."

Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi began ushering everyone toward the parking lot, with Lin Daan's family following behind. A wide smile spread across Lin Daan's face upon seeing his son's family, and he was delighted to see how much taller and more handsome his grandsons had become.

The two families chatted outside for a while before splitting up to go to their respective homes, agreeing to meet up again another day.

By the time Lin Feng's family arrived at Mingyue Villa, Zhou Cuilan had already cleaned the entire house and changed all the bedding. The refrigerator was also fully stocked. Whenever Lin Feng came back, Zhou Cuilan would tidy up the place, come rain or shine.

Lin Feng told the quadruplets to tidy up their own rooms while he and Zhang Yuxi took care of the master bedroom, putting away their belongings.

In the living room, Lin Dashan and his wife were amusing Xiaobao. She was a bit shy around strangers, but she was still cooperative. However, the moment the person holding her sat down, she would begin to protest. She grumbled and whimpered, pursing her little lips as if trying to say something.

Lin Dashan whispered, "This little Xiaobao is quite the chatterbox! She hasn't stopped making noise since we got here."

Zhou Cuilan shot him a glare. "What's wrong with that? Would you prefer she were mute? It's good for a child to be talkative. Is it better for her to be quiet and bottle everything up?"

Lin Dashan immediately fell silent. These days, Zhou Cuilan had a very sharp tongue.

Zhou Cuilan carried Xiaobao around the room while Lin Dashan followed behind, trying to entertain her with a toy.

Lin Feng came downstairs and asked, "Mom, Dad, when are Lin Jie and his girlfriend getting back?"

The moment Xiaobao heard her father's voice, she perked up and immediately looked toward the sound. She stretched out her little hands, signaling for Lin Feng to hold her.

Lin Feng took Xiaobao and kissed her tiny hands. "You wanted Daddy to hold you, huh?"

Xiaobao's smile said it all.

Zhou Cuilan shook her tired arms. "Lin Jie and his girlfriend won't arrive until noon on New Year's Eve. He's too busy with work and can't get away."

Lin Feng then asked, "Are we eating out tonight or at home?"

"Let's eat at home. It's clean and hygienic, which is nice."

Just then, the quadruplets also came downstairs. Seeing the somewhat plain and bare house, they began discussing how to liven it up.

Lin Feng handed Xiaobao to Er Bao. "I'll leave that to you. You can figure out the couplets, decorations, and all that yourselves."

The quadruplets declared it was no problem and decided they would go buy the materials that very afternoon.

Lin Feng and Zhou Cuilan were in charge of cooking. Zhou Cuilan was gossiping about Lin Jie's girlfriend's family. Lin Feng already knew some of this information, as he and Zhang Yuxi had seen the girl's picture before. She was pretty and petite, and she was from Jingcheng. Her parents were well-connected in Jingcheng and were business owners, so her family was wealthy.

The girl had been the one to pursue Lin Jie, pestering him for a long time before he finally agreed to a relationship. Lin Jie had been completely focused on the small company he had founded and wasn't in the mood for romance. The young woman was an intern at his company. She hadn't spared Chen Miaomiao, Yang Zheng, or Meng Liang a second glance; instead, she had fallen for Lin Jie at first sight, her feelings deepening over time. Lin Jie was somewhat interested in her, and after spending time together, he found her to be a nice person and agreed to start a relationship.

Lin Feng didn't know much about Lin Jie's romantic life, so he was learning a lot from Zhou Cuilan now.

"Lin Jie told me that at first, her parents didn't approve of them being together. They said Lin Jie's family background was too ordinary."

"Back then, Lin Jie didn't mention our family's true situation, only that we were average, so her parents wanted her to break up with him."

"But the girl refused. She was set on Lin Jie and even declared that she was prepared for a shotgun wedding if that's what it took."

"That was the moment your brother decided to commit to the relationship."

"I've video-chatted with the girl. She's very nice, speaks in a soft, sweet voice, and has a good personality. She was so charming, calling me 'Auntie' over and over."

Lin Feng, busy with his tasks, replied, "Lin Jie never mentioned any of this to me."

Zhou Cuilan understood Lin Jie's thinking. "You're busy too. He didn't want to bother you with these things."

"Besides, a relationship is between two people. He's a grown man now; he doesn't want you to worry about him."

As they talked, the meal was ready.

At the dinner table, Lin Dashan couldn't help but praise his son's excellent cooking skills, taking a subtle jab at Zhou Cuilan in the process.

Zhou Cuilan snorted coldly but didn't say anything, not wanting to argue with the children present. She changed the subject, asking, "Xiaobao is five months old. When do you plan on introducing solids?"

The term meant introducing the baby to solid, complementary foods.

Lin Feng replied, "We'll wait until she's six months, when the weather gets warmer in the spring."

After dinner, the quadruplets went out to buy New Year's decorations. Zhou Cuilan, worried about them, gave them a string of reminders.

"Take a bus, don't ride your bikes or anything. Don't look at your phones while you're walking. Keep them put away safely. There are more thieves out and about as the New Year gets closer!"

"And don't just dart across the street! You have to use the crosswalks, understand?"

Only after her detailed reminders did the kids finally leave.

Lin Dashan couldn't help but interject. "You worry too much. The kids are already in their first year of high school. They're old enough. You think they don't know these things without you telling them?"

Zhou Cuilan's brow furrowed in displeasure. "What business is it of yours what I say? No matter how old they get, they'll always be children in my eyes."

"Why do you always have so much to say about everything I do? If you think I'm too controlling and talk too much, then we can just stay out of each other's way and have some peace and quiet."

Lin Dashan was speechless. "I only said one thing, and you come back at me with a whole speech!"

Zhou Cuilan huffed, "That's exactly what you meant! Don't think for a second I don't know what you're really thinking."
