My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 536: Dabao is a Scientist

Ever since the baby started on solid food, her poop had gotten much smellier.

To make matters worse, the baby was irritable and prone to constipation, which meant Lin Feng had to spend ages cleaning up each time.

To relieve her condition, Lin Feng made her drink more water, sometimes infused with honeysuckle, and he would gently rub her little tummy at night. But she still became constipated from time to time, which was a real headache for him. In the past, the children's bowel movements had been very regular, but now, Xiao Bao would only go every two or three days. Whenever she did manage to poop, Lin Feng's joy was as great as if he had won the lottery.

To help Xiao Bao get a better sense of when to go, Lin Feng bought a little potty. As soon as her little face tensed up and she fell silent, he knew she needed to go and would quickly place her on it. He would then wait anxiously by her side.

Xiao Bao strained hard, her little cheeks turning red, and Lin Feng didn't dare make a sound to disturb her.

Finally, sniffing a familiar smell, Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief. Yay, a successful poop today!

Lin Feng knew a few remedies for relieving constipation, but he wasn't comfortable using them on Xiao Bao, who was only five months old. He decided to wait and see if the problem persisted when she was a bit older before giving her any medicine.

After washing her little bum and cleaning the potty, he turned around to find Xiao Bao sitting on the robotic vacuum cleaner again.

Lin Feng called over their dog, Da Bai, and used his Skills to have him stand guard while he went to prepare dinner. With his extraordinary hearing, he felt at ease as long as he could hear Xiao Bao's movements from the kitchen.

While busy in the kitchen, Lin Feng called out Xiao Bao's name, and then called for Da Bai.

Da Bai responded with a woof, signaling that all was well.

The older children returned home together, except for Si Bao. Hearing Xiao Bao's voice and knowing she wasn't asleep, the boisterous Er Bao shouted, "Xiao Bao, your big sister Er Bao is back! Hurry and welcome my royal presence!"

Da Bao teased, "Welcome your royal presence? And what title would that be?"

"The Grand Princess, obviously!"

The siblings chatted idly as they changed their shoes in the foyer.

Xiao Bao's voice grew closer, and there she was, sitting on the red robotic vacuum and slowly approaching them.

Er Bao opened her arms wide. "Ah, is the little princess driving her chariot over to pick me up?"

The robotic vacuum made a turn, carrying Xiao Bao away without giving Er Bao a second glance.

Da Bao laughed. "Clearly, she wasn't here to pick you up; she was just passing by."

San Bao followed behind Xiao Bao, her expression tender. "Oh, our Xiao Bao has a new toy! Look, it's a little car, and it even cleans the floor!"

Sitting atop the robotic vacuum, Xiao Bao giggled at them.

Lin Feng came over and said, "She's been sitting on that for most of the day!"

He had thought she would grow tired of it, but she was still going strong. Now that her older siblings were home, the house became even livelier. The kids surrounded Xiao Bao, corralling the vacuum within their circle. And so, Xiao Bao would drift over to Er Bao for a moment, then glide over to San Bao.

In the past, the children would go upstairs to do their homework around this time and would be nearly finished by dinner. Now, they had adjusted their schedule to play with Xiao Bao first and do their homework after dinner. By then, Xiao Bao would also be close to her bedtime.

"Alright, that's enough playing. Time to eat," Zhang Yuxi announced. At her command, the children scrambled to the bathroom to wash their hands.

San Bao carried Xiao Bao to wash her little hands.

"Time for dinner! Would you like your big sister to feed you, hmm?"

Xiao Bao said nothing, which San Bao took as a yes.

San Bao took the bowl of baby food from Lin Feng's hands. "Daddy, I'll feed her."

She then began to alternate between feeding Xiao Bao and eating her own meal.

Of the four siblings, who could compete with San Bao's patience? Even Da Bao felt he couldn't compare.

San Bao ate her food while gently coaxing Xiao Bao to eat. She was unfazed no matter how many times the baby spit out her food, never once frowning. This was a task that Er Bao, Da Bao, and Si Bao simply couldn't handle. They could only play supporting roles, like distracting Xiao Bao with toys or making funny faces.

All in all, with the siblings' help, the small bowl of baby food was finished in no time. If it had been up to Lin Feng alone, it would have taken hours.

After dinner, it was time to walk Da Bai.

Da Bai was an old dog now, a venerable grandfather who moved much slower than before. He had always had the best relationship with Si Bao. When Si Bao was little, he loved to nap on Da Bai's back. As he grew older, he enjoyed playing fetch with frisbees and sticks with him in the yard. Now that Da Bai was old, Si Bao took the most tender care of him and was the only one who walked him.

Back when they lived at Cui Lake, they needed a leash for walks, but with their own yard, there was no need. The older children, the dog, and the baby were all playing in the yard.

Half an hour later, the children went to do their homework.

Zhang Yuxi took Xiao Bao to the master bedroom to sleep. Meanwhile, Lin Feng prepared snacks and fruit for the other children, delivering them to their rooms one by one.

In the second semester of their first year of high school, the academic workload had increased. For the children, however, it wasn't much. They finished their homework in about an hour and a half, then spent an hour on their personal interests.

In the laboratory, Lin Feng put down a plate of fruit. "Da Bao? Doing an experiment?"

"Dad, I've discovered something fascinating."

"What is it?"

Da Bao explained a great deal to Lin Feng, his face glowing with the excitement of someone who had discovered a new continent. The knowledge he spoke of was so advanced that even Lin Feng couldn't follow it all. It gave Lin Feng a sense of profound awe, making him feel his son was remarkably brilliant.

"Keep it up!" Lin Feng said with a smile.

Da Bao nodded vigorously, then changed the subject. "Dad, I need to buy a piece of equipment, and it's very expensive."

Lin Feng asked, "How much?"

Da Bao pursed his lips. "I don't know… maybe tens of millions…"

After a moment, thinking that was too much to ask, he quickly added, "Never mind, never mind. Dad, I'll figure it out myself."

Lin Feng chuckled. To be honest, tens of millions were just a drop in the bucket for him.

"What's the instrument called? I'll ask around for you, and if it's suitable, we'll buy it. How about that?"

"...Okay."

Lin Feng returned to the master bedroom, where mother and daughter were already fast asleep. He made some calls to inquire about the instrument. It was a very advanced piece of equipment, priced at fifty million, with numerous functions.

Lin Feng didn't hesitate. One word: buy!

On the third day, the item was air-freighted from abroad and delivered directly to their door.

Lin Feng glanced at the large and small crates in the truck and, realizing he wouldn't understand any of it, called Da Bao and told him to take the day off from school and come home.

Da Bao was very confused.

When he arrived, he discovered that Lin Feng had already bought the equipment. He was both shocked and delighted. He watched as the technicians assembled the instrument piece by piece and then began calibrating it. They were busy from morning until the afternoon when the other children returned from school. Before departing, the workers handed over their business card.

The siblings had a tacit understanding regarding each other's special spaces: San Bao's practice room, Si Bao's training room, Er Bao's workshop, and Da Bao's laboratory. They never entered without permission, respecting them as private domains.

The three of them stood at the laboratory door, watching with wide eyes and exclaiming in surprise.

"It looks so high-tech… so impressive."

"Yeah, you could film a movie in here!"

Er Bao said with a laugh, her arms crossed, "Brother Da Bao is so happy. This thing must not have been cheap."

Da Bao had a reserved and steady personality. Most of his income came from writing articles for newspapers and magazines or from his New Year's gift money, unlike Er Bao, San Bao, and Si Bao, who had already started earning their own money. But he wasn't one to spend extravagantly; when they ate out together, he was always the first to offer to pay.

The children didn't have much of a concept of money. They didn't compare who earned more or less, nor did they feel competitive, envious, or jealous. Those with more money contributed more, and those with less contributed less—it was as simple as that.

Once he had the new instrument, Da Bao put everything else out of his mind and spent all day in the laboratory. His only leisure time was spent teasing Xiao Bao. He also started going to bed very late. After reminding him to take care of himself, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi let him be.

「Until one day, a month later.」

Da Bao burst out of the lab, shouting, "I did it! I did it!!!"

His physics and chemistry teachers had said that the knowledge Da Bao now possessed far surpassed what was taught in high school. He had a true gift and talent in these fields. After hearing this, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi gave Da Bao even more freedom. If you don't chase your passions when you're young, when will you?

Da Bao danced excitedly in front of everyone, thrilled and ecstatic. Then, like a gust of wind, he was gone again, back to his lab.

Everyone was used to it by now and didn't pay it much mind. This time, however, his experiment had reached a major milestone. As for what exactly Da Bao had been working on for the past month, nobody asked. The family was once again harmonious and joyful.
