My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 540: Double Happiness Comes Knocking

That evening, classmates from the group chat sent messages, saying the family had made the trending searches again. This time, it was about the baby. Clicking the link revealed their photo from the zoo, with a headline proclaiming that the baby must have saved the galaxy in a past life.

The Lin Feng family faced such harmless attention with ease. After all, these days, anyone good-looking could become famous just by having their photo taken. With a management team or a company, their prospects could be even better. Everything, from people to events, happened on these platforms. It all depended on your perspective; if you ignored the hype, it would eventually fade.

After dinner, the baby started searching everywhere for someone. Lin Feng and the older kids exchanged a look, knowing the storm was about to erupt. They took turns distracting her, playing with her and trying to keep her happy. At first, she was easily drawn in and didn't seem to notice anything amiss. Soon, however, she wasn't so easy to placate. She started crying and fussing, demanding to find Zhang Yuxi.

What else could they do? They had to soothe her.

The baby cried for most of the night before finally falling into a deep sleep.

The next day, the family went out again to have fun, hoping to distract the baby and tire her out. That way, she would sleep more soundly at night.

The situation improved daily. By the fourth day, the baby was much easier to soothe, and they felt confident she could be completely weaned within ten days. On the fifth night, although she still looked for Zhang Yuxi, she didn't cry for as long. On the sixth night, she was more cooperative at bedtime and didn't seem to remember wanting milk, only crying sleepily for about ten minutes in the middle of the night. On the seventh night, she cried hard for her mother before falling asleep and only whimpered briefly upon waking up. On the eighth night, she played until late without once mentioning milk, merely tossing and turning for a bit before falling asleep. By the ninth night, she only cried for a minute or two.

On the tenth night, Zhang Yuxi returned.

When the baby saw her, she burst into the most heart-wrenching tears, which even made Zhang Yuxi's eyes turn red. That night, the baby stayed clutched in Zhang Yuxi's arms, refusing to let anyone else hold her. Lin Feng and the others grew worried, afraid all their hard work would be for nothing.

Later that night, the baby fell into a deep sleep in Zhang Yuxi's arms, but in the middle of the night, she started to nuzzle. Lin Feng quickly took the baby into his own arms, signaling for Zhang Yuxi to hide. After nuzzling around and finding only flat plains, the baby gradually calmed down. Only then did Lin Feng breathe a sigh of relief.

Zhang Yuxi emerged from the bathroom and whispered in his ear, "Honey, I'll go sleep in the guest room."

Lin Feng grabbed her hand. "Wait a moment!"

The couple had a perfect, unspoken understanding. Zhang Yuxi knew exactly what Lin Feng wanted and looked at him with a shy, pursed-lipped smile.

The next morning, the baby woke up without crying or fussing. Lin Feng carried her to the dining room and sent a message to Zhang Yuxi: "You can come down after the baby has eaten her solid food, honey."

Half an hour later, after the baby had finished her meal, Lin Feng took her out to the yard to play and digest.

"Honey, you can come down now," he texted.

When the father and daughter returned, Zhang Yuxi was waiting with a smile.

The baby squealed in delight, "Mommy!"

The little one's speech was getting clearer every day, and she could occasionally even string together four words.

Zhang Yuxi hugged her. "Did you have your food?"

The baby nodded and then began searching for something on Zhang Yuxi's chest. Realizing what was happening, Zhang Yuxi quickly passed the baby to Lin Feng. "Here, let Daddy hold you. Mommy has to go poop!" With that, she made an exaggerated escape to the bathroom.

The baby's attention was caught by the busy robot vacuum. She grinned and gestured for Lin Feng to put her on top of it. The robot vacuum was exceptionally diligent, continuing its work without complaint while giving the child a ride.

Zhang Yuxi had noticed the new aquarium the night before, but she had been too preoccupied with her daughter to pay it much mind. Looking at it now, she realized it was far more beautiful than the one in their Cuihu Villa. The setup below the tank resembled an enchanting underwater world.

"Xiaobao, do you like it?" Zhang Yuxi asked with a smile, holding her daughter. "Look at the fishy-fishies! Aren't they pretty?"

Xiaobao patted the glass. "Fishy-fishy!"

"That's right, fishy-fishy!"

For the next few days, Zhang Yuxi slept in the guest room. When Xiaobao woke up during the night, she didn't find her mother. Upon waking in the morning, she would look around curiously but never cried or fussed. With this new routine established, even when Zhang Yuxi returned to sleeping in the main bedroom, Xiaobao no longer nuzzled for milk. It seemed she was truly weaned.

And so, thanks to the entire family's persistent efforts, Xiaobao was finally weaned.

...

Another happy event soon followed.

Dabao had quietly submitted a paper to *Science Explorer*, and after peer review, it had been successfully published. The news came as a complete shock to Yangcheng No. 5 Middle School and the entire city of Yangcheng. It was both sudden and incredible.

It had started as a very ordinary morning. While the students were in their self-study session, the phone in the principal's office rang. It was the Education Bureau, calling to confirm Lin Pingping's identity. The puzzled principal summoned Dabao's class teacher.

The teacher from Class Three was supervising students memorizing vocabulary when she was called out. She paused in the corridor. "What's going on? Who's calling?"

"You need to take Dabao to the principal's office. It's urgent."

Two bewildered individuals made their way to the office. On the way, the teacher told Dabao not to be nervous, suggesting it might be good news. By "good news," she imagined an early admission offer from a top institution like Peking University, guessing a spot had been allocated to Dabao.

The principal was on the phone, his face beaming with a joy he could barely contain. "Here he is!" he said into the receiver. Seeing Dabao, he quickly waved him over to take the call.

Utterly perplexed, Dabao took the phone. "Hello, this is Lin Pingping."

"Yes, I sent it... What? It was published? Really? I didn't know. I wasn't following up on it; I didn't think it would be accepted."

"Okay, I understand. Yes, thank you."

The class teacher was completely lost. "What happened?" she asked the principal.

The principal gave her a brief rundown. Her eyes widened as if she were hearing an unbelievable fairytale.

"I couldn't believe it either," the principal chuckled, "but it seems to be true!"

*Science Explorer* was the journal where the world's top experts—the true giants of their fields—published their papers. Just getting one paper accepted was enough to brag about for a lifetime, let alone for a first-year high school student publishing his own research in a place filled with such titans.

The principal stroked his chin. "Just you wait. This kid won't even need an early admission offer. Prestigious universities will be fighting over him."

The class teacher was thrilled, both for herself and for Dabao.

After Dabao hung up, the principal showered him with praise but also reminded him not to become arrogant, to keep studying, and to continue working hard.

On the way back to the classroom, the smile never left the teacher's face. Soon, the entire school knew what had happened. Dabao transformed from a top student into an academic legend, an untouchable figure in the eyes of his peers.

The class teacher shared the good news in the parents' group chat. The group was immediately filled with admiration, but no jealousy. After all, when the gap between people becomes too vast and you see someone standing at a height you can never hope to reach, the envy disappears. They knew such a legendary feat would never happen to their own children and had come to terms with that fundamental difference.
