"High-temperature overload..."
"Speed disadvantage..."
Lin Feng muttered to himself and quickly saw the relevant information listed on the paper he held.
Then he picked it up and read it carefully.
When the power gap is not yet a cross-era disadvantage, intelligence is the most critical attribute.
Whether it's a small-scale skirmish with a few people or a large-scale battlefield with thousands, it's ultimately all about information warfare.
Whoever has more intelligence about the other, and a more comprehensive perception of the battlefield's dynamics, has a better chance of winning.
To understand the opponent, Li Hao, one must start with his identity.
The greatest asset for an Evolver on the Rock-Horned Horse Path during Tier Two is not the second superpower granted by the Rock-Horned Horse Source Material.
In fact, this ability is somewhat better than nothing, primarily offering adaptability to harsh environments and endurance.
Inside the Rock-Horned Horse are genes from various herbivores, such as camels that can store fresh water and energy, rhinoceroses with thick keratin armor, and bison with multiple gastric sacs.
This allows them to digest any vegetation, even breaking down the nutrients in lignin.
The Rock-Horned Horse's success is due to its absorption of excellent genetic traits from most large herbivores, thriving in harsh environments where only the fittest survive.
There are other evolutionary desolate beast species on the wasteland; small ones number over a hundred, including long-lived naked mole rats that originally had a lifespan of thirty years, ten times that of other small rodents, and grow and develop rapidly, immune to most diseases and cancers.
After the catastrophe, naked mole rats further mutated, shedding most useless organs, including eyes and their high-energy-consuming brains...
They gnaw on plant roots for sustenance, living underground in groups numbering a dozen or more, widely distributed.
Due to excessive degeneration, the curse of the Scorching Sun Forbidden Area doesn't significantly affect these lower life forms.
Like prairie voles, they are also a major food source for the Deserters and carnivorous animals in the wasteland. Despite their gradual degeneration and hairless appearance, their ugliness makes them beloved by hunters.
For other large herbivores, there are over ten documented types, but their population sizes are relatively small, not even reaching a million.
Most live in fixed routes and areas, not as highly specialized as the Rock-Horned Horse and unable to adapt to most wasteland environments.
This is why the Evolvers on the Rock-Horned Horse Path are the most numerous among the Alien Evolution Paths.
The genetic traits within the Rock-Horned Horse are the most adapted to the current harsh wasteland environment.
Injecting Rock-Horned Horse Life Source Material allows Evolvers to complete their metamorphosis and evolution, with outstanding endurance already at Tier One.
They can trek long distances or endure hunger and thirst.
Though it doesn't aid in combat, in wasteland survival, besides the original Rock-Horned Horse, none can compare.
Upon reaching Level 2 Evolution, this trait naturally gets enhanced again.
The exceptional endurance grants Rock Horse Warriors the ability for sustained combat.
The ability to continually stack endurance means their cells prioritize stress resistance and survival during evolution instead of high-frequency explosive activity.
Thus, Evolvers on the Rock-Horned Horse Path mostly lack explosive power, or rather, the upper limit of their burst capability is not high.
This is the evolutionary flaw of the Rock-Horned Horse, after all, it's just adapting to a harsh wasteland environment, not evolving to a perfect state.
Sacrificing explosiveness for endurance is the Rock-Horned Horse's evolutionary strategy.
Now inherited by the Evolvers on the Rock-Horned Horse Path, it has become one of their major flaws.
Even when piloting Rock Horse Armor, they cannot achieve short-term high-performance combat like Power Armor.
The evolutionary route of the Rock-Horned Horse keeps the lower limit, but the upper limit is very low, making it challenging for a true race king or Tier Three King Beast to be born.
After all, no evolutionary desolate beast is better suited for wasteland survival than them.
The same is true for Evolvers on the Rock-Horned Horse Path, with a high lower limit but a mediocre upper limit.
This issue materializes in the combat of Rock Horse Warriors, through the two major weaknesses of Rock Horse Armor.
As Biological Battle Armor, Rock Horse Warriors are crafted from the bodies of deceased Tier Two Clan Leader-level Rock-Horned Horses.
Essentially, it's an extension of the Rock Horse Warrior's abilities.
Because of the genetic compatibility, Rock Horse Armor is exclusive to Rock Horse Warriors. Other Evolvers cannot activate it, experiencing a severe rejection response.
Once donned, although defense increases significantly, it also inherits the Rock-Horned Horse's flaws.
They can sustain prolonged combat, but the lack of explosiveness lingers. Just like the Clan Leader-level Rock-Horned Horse that Lin Feng encountered, although it chased him all over the street for nearly a hundred kilometers, it could never catch up with him.
At that time, Lin Feng was only Mid-Tier One, with a maximum speed of forty to fifty meters per second and an average speed of about twenty meters, equivalent to a hundred kilometers per hour.
Yet, the Tier Two Evolutionary Form Clan Leader-level Rock-Horned Horse could only closely follow behind, unable to unleash the speed expected of its Tier Two Evolutionary Form.
If it were any other Tier Two Desolate Beast, Lin Feng reckoned he would have been eaten in one encounter, with no time to react, like the Desert Wolf.
Thus, even equipped with unbeatable defense and earth-shattering power, the Rock Horse Warriors in Rock Horse Armor cannot frequently escalate to higher-tier states.
