Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor

Chapter 184: Not So Simple

...

...

The cold wind makes it hard to keep one's eyes open, yet the running steps can't pause for a moment.

Even so, Chris knows that these lizardmen will catch up sooner or later.

After all, lizardmen are an alien race living in this wilderness, their speed in the wild is unmatched except by other alien races.

In such snowy terrain, Chris and the soldiers don't have time to hide their tracks and can't shake off their pursuers.

As expected, soon Tucson's eagle spotted the lizardmen less than a kilometer away from their group.

As long as the enemy crosses the ridge, they will see Chris and the others.

"This is all my fault, Lord Chris, I didn't notice them!"

Tucson, full of guilt, said, "Let me divert them. You all take another route!"

"No, this isn't your fault, it's those lizardmen who are too cunning."

Chris shook his head vigorously after hearing the wildman's translated words, "They were hidden underground, no one could have noticed them."

Chris wasn't just excusing Tucson; the lizardmen were really well-concealed.

Those lizardmen had hidden in dug-out snow dens early on. It was almost impossible to spot them even if you passed right by.

If it weren't for Chris's years of sharp senses towards danger, they would have already stepped into the lizardmen's trap.

Chris doesn't blame anyone.

Chris is just puzzled about when those lizardmen discovered them and how they predicted their route.

"Tucson, you are more important than anyone else!"

Chris ordered sternly, "You and your wildman companions need to go and get the message out, report our findings to Lord!"

The wildman translated the order to Tucson, who was momentarily stunned.

But when he thought about the interest of the Saint Master, he gritted his teeth and nodded heavily,

"Alright, I will definitely get it back!"

"Hurry up and go!"

Chris gritted his teeth, turning decisively.

He was already ready to begin arranging battle preparations, and the rousing words to motivate the soldiers were on the tip of his tongue, when suddenly Tucson's shout came through.

"Eagle!"

This was one of the few Empire words Tucson knew, "Our eagle!"

As his words fell, the eagle flapped its wings, swooping down to toss a belt to Tucson.

Tucson hurriedly opened it, revealing a map inside.

Tucson quickly presented it to Chris.

The map was very simply marked.

A black dot, and four words:

Come here - Rein.

"Go!"

Chris had no time to hesitate and with a command rushed directly towards the marked spot on the map.

Chris had heard of Rein, but couldn't remember it.

However, the eagle was symbolic of Black Pine Ridge; the map was also a standard map of Black Pine Ridge, with the Lord's crest on it.

The others didn't understand what was happening, but after two months of coordination, they were accustomed to following Chris's, the lord knight's, orders.

Even as the figures of lizardmen appeared over the opposite ridge, they turned to run following Chris.

And the messenger eagle seemed to be guiding them, flying steadily ahead as they rushed forth.

Until Chris reached a snow hollow sheltered by hills, the eagle circled in the sky, not moving forward.

"It seems this is the place."

Chris scanned the surroundings with his eyes.

He knew very well.

This was a perfect ambush site.

If their enemy charged out from the surrounding hills, they would be buried here.

Was Rein planning to use them as bait to bury these lizardmen?

Chris didn't have time to think much.

He could only trust his back to companions he had never met.

Reassuring Chris was the fact that the messenger eagle was still circling in the sky.

"They're coming, my lord!"

A soldier exclaimed in alarm!

On the path where Chris and his men came, the lizardmen were already charging towards them.

Chris stared at the lizardmen, taking the longbow handed over by his aide, and shot an arrow at the leading lizardmen!

Chris's archery wasn't perfect, but it was precise enough; one arrow shot into the chest of the leading lizardman!

"Well shot, my lord!"

The soldiers cheered!

However, the next moment the lizardman hit by the arrow got up, breaking the arrow shaft and charged again at the soldiers!

"These thick-skinned, tough monsters!"

Chris cursed!

The arrow pierced the lizardman's body but did not hit its heart!

Chris immediately reached out, "Armor-Piercing Arrow!"

The aide hurriedly handed an arrow over!

Stringing the bow and shooting, Chris executed the move in one fluid motion, the armor-piercing arrow instantly penetrated the lizardman's head, shooting it to the ground!

"Only the armor-piercing arrows work!"

Chris picked up another armor-piercing arrow and shot again, bringing down another lizardman!

However, the lizardmen were no fools; the third and fourth arrows were all blocked by shields!

The arrows pierced through the shields but failed to cause any harm to the lizardmen!

Meanwhile, the lizardmen were within a hundred meters!

"Prepare for battle!"

Chris shouted fiercely, unsheathing his longsword with a metallic clatter!

Following that, the metallic grinding sound rang continuously, as the soldiers drew their longswords, glaring fiercely at the charging lizardmen!

The lizardmen closed in, their dark blue scales reflecting an eerie cold light in the snowy terrain.

And their spiked shields and wolf fang clubs made people tremble; in fact, there were soldiers whose hands holding their swords were slightly trembling.

They had fought with the lizardmen and knew the ferocity of these creatures.

Over forty might not sound like a lot.

But when more than forty grim-faced, vertical-pupiled, cold-eyed, saliva-dripping upright giant lizards holding wolf fang clubs swarmed down from the hills, even Chris bit his teeth nervously.

"Damn it, being scared is as good as dead!"
