Chapter 204: Flaming Arrow (Part 2)

"What happened to you, Lord Baron?" Lusen asked curiously.

"It's nothing, nothing."

Luo De said to Lusen, "Come on, since you're here, I'll take you to see those Lizardmen."

Lusen came precisely for the Lizardmen's corpses, and he promptly nodded. "Alright, let's go."

Lusen immediately followed Luo De and stood up.

But just as he took a step, Lusen suddenly recalled what Luo De had said earlier.

"Lord Baron, you mentioned earlier that 'also' arrived."

"Does this 'also' mean that there are other merchant groups here as well?"

Lusen pondered and asked, "Like us, are they also your friends?"

...

...

A moment later, inside the jail.

Luo De reached out and introduced the handsome young man in front of him:

"This person, like you, is my merchant friend, Man Xiu Silver Dove."

"And this is Lusen Stone Mill, also a merchant."

After the introduction, Man Xiu voluntarily bowed in a courteous gesture.

"Pleased to meet you, Mr. Lusen,"

"I am from the Silver Dove Clan of Oak City, currently responsible for the trade route in the Northern Wasteland."

"Nice to meet you."

Lusen returned the gesture and introduced himself, "I am the manager of the Dawn Trading Team."

After a brief acquaintance, Man Xiu looked at Luo De with a slightly pained expression,

"Lord Baron, is Mr. Lusen also here to purchase Lizardmen?"

"Do we need to compete on price then?"

"It shouldn't be necessary, right?"

Luo De looked at Lusen and curiously asked, "Do you need live Lizardmen?"

"They don't seem to hold much value."

Lusen hesitated for a moment, casting a glance at the Lizardmen in the jail.

"Three live ones should be enough for us."

Lusen wanted to say more, but restrained himself.

Wizards don't specifically research this alien race of Lizardmen, but might study some materials from their bodies, like blood.

Live Lizardmen can continuously provide a stream of blood.

However, this is something he can't share with a stranger like Man Xiu.

"If live Lizardmen are more expensive than corpses, we prefer to have the Lizardmen's corpses instead."

Lusen affirmed.

Luo De nodded, "Then there's no conflict."

Luo De looked at Man Xiu, "I believe you can't consume all the Lizardmen corpses by yourself."

"How many do you have now?" Man Xiu asked curiously.

"Thirty-seven Lizardmen corpses."

Luo De disclosed openly to the two, without any deliberate concealment.

Actually, Luo De could have brought out each corpse one by one and had them bid against each other like a cunning merchant.

But Man Xiu and the Dawn Society have always been friendly to him, so Luo De doesn't want to do anything damaging to his reputation.

Moreover, thirty-seven is a conservative number, not counting the ones he's already dissected.

Ever since knowing the price of Lizardmen, the ones hunted in the Razor Plain have been sent here.

This morning, Luo De received a letter from Gang Le saying that another batch of Lizardmen, along with some Cat People, was being sent back.

"You're right."

Man Xiu smiled bitterly, "I truly don't have enough Gold Coins."

"Since Mr. Lusen isn't interested in live Lizardmen, let me offer a price then."

Man Xiu thought for a moment, "Thirty Gold Coins per Lizardman, how about that?"

"I want five."

"It's just that you two are buying; if someone else came, I would certainly raise the price."

Luo De nodded, "Let's go with your price then."

"Thank you for your generosity and acknowledgment."

Man Xiu breathed a sigh of relief, "Actually, I want more, but unfortunately, I don't have many Gold Coins left."

"The rest of the live Lizardmen can all be handed over to this Mr. Lusen then."

"As for the corpses..."

Man Xiu silently calculated his balance.

"For the corpses, I hope to buy ten, which should be enough."

"Okay."

Luo De agreed to Man Xiu's request and turned to Lusen, "What do you think?"

"No problem, I'll take the remaining twenty-seven corpses."

Lusen said without hesitation, "If you have more, I'll take them."

Luo De gazed deeply at Lusen.

It seems the Dawn Society indeed has deep pockets.

"Lord Baron, could I trouble you with something?"

Man Xiu cautiously asked, "Your servants must be quite knowledgeable about these Lizardmen, right? Could they help me skin the Lizardmen?"

"And the meat and organs, could they help me process them, too?"

"I can offer you a processing fee."

Man Xiu sighed slightly, "To be honest, I prefer to take the hides and then sell them."

"As for the internal organs and meat, they might need to be sold to some alchemists, but I currently don't have any business partners for that."

Man Xiu's words piqued Lusen's interest.

Lusen stepped forward, "Mr. Man Xiu, if you don't have specific sales channels, you can sell the meat and organs to me."

"I can give you a share of the hides from the bodies I purchase."

Man Xiu's eyes lit up, "That would be perfect!"

Man Xiu looked at Luo De, "Lord Baron, you don't mind our transaction, do you..."

"As long as you both agree, and it doesn't cause any discord, I'm fine with it."

Luo De replied cheerfully with a smile.

"Thank you very much."

Man Xiu and Lusen immediately began discussing and set the prices for the hides, meat, and organs.

Once they reached an agreement, they turned their gaze to Luo De.

"Lord Baron."

Lusen spoke up, "We've come to an agreement, ready to make payment at any time, and would appreciate your help in arranging someone to do the butchering."

"No problem."

Luo De nodded with a smile,

"I have butchers specifically for cutting up these alien races, their skills will surely satisfy you."

...

...

Late at night.

After the banquet hosting Lusen and Man Xiu, Luo De was alone in his workshop.

Vivian stood guard at the door while Luo De began studying the spells within the memory gem brought by Lusen.

There weren't many Zero Ring spells, and the two inside were the most ordinary.

Create Flame and Flaming Arrow.

Create Flame, as the name suggests, is to conjure a ball of flame.

Unlike a natural trick that ignites a fuel, Create Flame doesn't require any additional dyes; it simply generates a flame.

This flame can provide light, warmth, and can last for about ten minutes.

If you continuously inject magic power, it can last longer.

The spell description introduced it as the prototype for creating the simplest magical lamp.

A stable flame pedestal, an extraordinary gem for storing magic, and magic-conducting materials can complete the magical lamp's creation.

Create Flame can also cause damage, but it's incomparable to Flaming Arrow.

Flaming Arrow is a spell meant for actual harm.

Direct it at a visible target, and you can shoot a beam of flame with a lift of your hand, similar to the spells Luo De casts using blazing energy.

In the early stages, chanting was needed, but once you are familiar enough with the spell model, you can achieve an instant cast.

Moreover, the casting distance of Flaming Arrow can reach forty meters, much farther than Luo De's own release with blazing energy.

More importantly, Flaming Arrow can advance to Multi-Flaming Arrow.

If Luo De's spiritual power is strong enough, he can shoot multiple flaming arrows at once.

"Unfortunately, there's no defensive spell like Flame Shield."

Luo De secretly sighed.

But in an era of such spell scarcity, there's no room for pickiness; Luo De immediately began studying.

...

...

"Pa!"

"Pa!"

"Pa!"

The piercing sound echoed in the cave, as the barbed whip relentlessly lashed the Scar Lizardman's body.

Yet he dared not make a noise, gritting his teeth and enduring it.

The failure to eliminate the Mountain Cat People tribe was a small matter; the Great Shaman sparing his head was already merciful.

Mere fifty lashes were hardly considered punishment.

The only thing that the Scar Lizardman couldn't bear was that the executors were two Mixed Bloods.

"Enough."

The Great Shaman raised his staff and shouted; the two Mixed Bloods promptly stepped back obediently.

"It seems those Mountain Cat People have already pledged allegiance to that Human Lord," the Great Shaman said leisurely.

"It appears so..."

Lying on the ground, the Scar Lizardman replied reluctantly, "Those human soldiers were the few guys we're familiar with..."

The Great Shaman nodded and looked down at the Scar Lizardman,

"Can you get up?"

"I can, I can."

The Scar Lizardman gritted his teeth, trying hard to get up, but after a struggle, he fell back to the ground.

"Aren't you two fools going to help him?"

The Great Shaman's hoarse voice fell, and the two Mixed Bloods hurriedly crouched down and helped the Scar Lizardman to stand up.

"Come with me."

The Great Shaman leaned on his staff and turned to walk deeper into the cave.

The Scar Lizardman, unsure of what was happening, endured the pain and quickly followed.

A moment later, he saw a scene that even made him, a Lizardman, feel terrified.
