A Blunt Sword and a Broken-hearted Villager

Ch. 13

Chapter 13 The Unrepairable Broken Sword

The events at the Wandering Grave did not have a particularly significant impact on Bray.

Everything was normal, everything was peaceful, at least that's what Bray himself thought.

If one had to point out any change, it would be that Bray now had his own sword.

Unfortunately, this sword's blade was nicked, and quite severely at that.

Bray thought that since it was his first sword, he should at least get it repaired.

Generally speaking, a nicked blade could be re-sharpened.

Although the problem with 「Final Echo」 was a bit more serious, with enough effort, it should still be sharpenable.

Thus, feeling the 500G he had recently earned in his pocket, Bray rushed excitedly to the blacksmith's shop.

"Boss, help me take a look at this sword!!! The blade is nicked."

As soon as Bray pushed open the wooden door of the blacksmith shop, he "smacked" the sword down on the counter.

"I… I'm not the boss!!!" Behind the counter, a pink-haired girl waved her hands in a fluster.

——“This person looks so scary!!! So scary!!!!!”

——“A bandit!! Is he a bandit!!!”

Bray, with his eyepatch, was easily associated with the word "ferocious".

The girl's pale face made Bray's head fill with black lines.

In fact, Bray was very handsome, but unfortunately, the eyepatch added a hundred points of ferocity to him.

The girl's reaction deepened the look of despair in Bray's dead-fish eye.

——“As expected, it's impossible for me to have any interaction with the female species.”

The shouting at the counter startled the boss who was forging iron.

"Hey!! Which guy is shouting in someone else's shop!!"

"Is it you!!!! Kid!!!"

Although Bray really wanted to say that he was already twenty years old, after seeing the boss's age of at least sixty, Bray still kept his mouth shut.

A sixty-year-old indeed had the right to call him a kid.

"Hmm, this sword?"

The boss spotted the sword on the table, and his eyes lit up.

"Yes, this sword's blade is nicked. I want you to repair it for me, boss."

The boss just nodded without speaking, and picked up the sword on his own.

"Do you want to sharpen it?" the boss said to Bray.

"Um… is the fee very expensive?"

After seeing the boss's expression, Bray's heart sank heavily.

Was this the expression of someone about to rip him off?

Just as Bray's mind was running wild, he heard the blacksmith boss sigh.

"It's not a matter of being expensive. I can't repair it."

"Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The cry of surprise did not come from Bray, but from the girl who had been hiding behind the boss just now.

"Even Dad can't repair it?"

The girl looked at the sword with a face full of disbelief.

"Dad… Dad!!!??" Horror was written all over Bray's face.

The girl was at most in her teens, while the boss was at least sixty.

"My adopted daughter, is there a problem."

The boss glared at Bray.

Bray's earlier exclamation had made the girl blush deeply.

"No problem…" Bray shrank his neck.

Indeed, it was rude to discuss other people's family situations.

"Um, boss, you really can't sharpen it?"

"Can't sharpen it. It'll be the same if you find someone else."

The boss hammered his own stiff shoulders from forging.

"I've never even seen the material of this sword… but I dare guarantee that the sword's hardness and flexibility are both immense. It's not something my skill level can handle. What on earth did it cut to be damaged so ridiculously."

"Eh!!! Dad is the Weir Empire's most…"

"Mmph mmmph!!!!!!" The girl who was about to speak had her mouth covered by the boss.

"It's hard to imagine a sword like this in the hands of a rookie adventurer like you."

"Well, I picked it up."

"Ruins or something?"

"No, a cemetery."

"…You adventurers really dare to do anything."

The boss squinted his eyes and looked at Bray.

Bray gave a few dry laughs.

He couldn't possibly say that a dead person gave him this sword.

"In short, you'll get the same result with other blacksmiths. But if you want to sell it to me, I can offer a high price."

"Forget it.
