Chapter 70: Not every human

"How is that even possible?" Flint asks himself.

"Just because they are cursed beasts doesn't mean that they don't have a weakness." Darion replies in response to Flint's questions. "Every cursed beast may look invisible until you discover their weakness; the nature of their weakness is always something relating to their past life before they transformed into a beast. It doesn't matter how ridiculous their weakness may seem or how harmless it is to others; to them, it's death."

'This is fun,' Darion thought, watching as Wisteria tries transforming into her beast form to fight against Lucian but fails because of her wounds. Knowing that if Lucian killed Wisteria and stole her beast ability, he would also be cursed filled Darion's heart with excitement. He couldn't wait for it to happen. He was curious to know if the same curse that was with Wisteria and her people will affect Lucian in the same way, making him miserable.

Just when Lucian was about to kill Wisteria, Darion's body was controlled by a celestial magic from the heaven realm that moved him and ordered him to stop the fight. The orders were from three gods: Zyros, Dustan, and Orion. One celestial authority wasn't strong enough to control the piece of Darion's soul that was in this dungeon. If he wanted to retaliate against them, they would struggle for a while before getting Darion to do what they wanted; however, Darion shrugged and let himself be controlled.

"Fun is over." Darion was a bit angry that it ended just when it got to the good part. With a snap of his fingers, the cell that held the beast trap vanished. "Those irritating gods don't want their cursed beast dead—well, at least not until they have found some new cursed beast to replace them."

Wisteria's breath was labored as she struggled with her wounds that refused to heal.

Ursula sneakily picks up one of Lucian's sticks that was stained in Wisteria blood. It burns the palm of her hand and melts away her skin. She hisses at the pain and continues in her movement; before anyone could figure out what she was up to, she stabbed Yasmin at the side of her neck. "Gaia was the only true thing I had left after what happened to us, and yet you took her away from me."

Tears filled Yasmin's eyes as she tried her best to confess the truth, but with the stick Ursula was piercing deeper into her neck, she couldn't form a word.

Darion gave a wicked smile, watching in amusement. Just as Yasmin was about to take her last breath, he kicked Ursula in the face, making her fly off a short distance with a twisted neck, but she was still alive. Then he healed Yasmin and saved her.

"Why?" Yasmin asked when she saw that she wasn't dead. She didn't understand why the dungeon king would save her. She knew that demons were wicked creatures who cared about nothing more than themselves and their evil king.

"No cursed beasts are allowed to die anymore. Those were the orders I received; besides, personally, I feel it's much better you two live in hatred for the rest of your life."

Yasmin cast her head down in sadness while thinking that she was better off dead.

"Gather your human friends, Lucian." Darion uses his magic to bring Flint down to the arena. Before the fight started, he played 10 frustrating games with Flint, hoping that he would finally be able to kill Flint, but he lost, and Flint won all games. Even after Darion tried manipulating Flint to feel the pressure of his life that was at stake, Flint still kept a clear mind. "Since you entertained me as promised, I'm letting every human out of the dungeon."

Lucian breathes out in relief. With the help of Soren, he gathered every human in the dungeon in one place, making sure to keep Reed close to his side. Lucian intended to kidnap Reed because of the secret Reed knows; he had discreetly spoken to his teammates about his plans without Reed knowing what he was up to.

Reed cared less about his main goal of killing Lucian; he was happy that his awful experience was finally about to come to an end, and he intended to find Thorin immediately after leaving the dungeon. But he had a feeling that Lucian wasn't going to let him go easily; a part of Reed wished that he was wrong.

"Not every human is leaving this dungeon." Tara stabs Draven in the heart. With the help of a teammate, Draven didn't notice her as she sneaked up behind him.

Flint sighs and turns his eyes away from Draven's dead body. Suddenly he remembered that Darion owes him a reward for the game he won. "You promised to give me something rare if I win the game." He stepped closer to Darion.

The dungeon king smiled and made a dark book appear. Then he handed it over to Flint, who tried reading through the book, but he couldn't understand the language use.

From afar, Lucian watched with interest; he thought back to the time when he was kidnapped by the Achiloq brothers. He had seen Joel reading a dark book and wondered what it was. When Flint threw the book Darion gave him away, Lucian picked it up, but like Flint, he couldn't read the language used on the book.

It was a dark spellbook, full of high-level dark magic; it was rare but useless to players who had no affinity for dark magic. Darion smiled at the disappointed expression on Flint's face. Lucian may have had an affinity for dark magic because of the beast ability he stole, but Lucian needed to be over a thousand years old before he could ever understand the book in his hands. So knowing that Flint and Lucian couldn't use the rare treasure he had given them slightly made Darion feel like he had won against the humans even though he was letting them go.

"Do you think we will meet again?" Darion asked Lucian as he followed the other humans into the portal Darion created.

"I hope not." Lucian replied in a tired, sharp tone, which made Darion chuckle.

Without waiting for a second to lose after coming out of the dungeon, different players took out their swords and activated their magic. Lucian and his teammates were surrounded.
