Chapter 1367: Palace Entrance
Chapter 1366 – Palace Entrance
But Weiwu’s status was evidently validated by the spirit beast- that meant that spirit beasts were just animals who were practitioners?
Lin Yi believed that Elder Yu didn’t know much about this either, he just knew some of it and brought it out to show off. There should be more information about the spirit beasts in the ancient sects, but Lin Yi wasn’t at the stage to be interacting with them yet.
The road to the underground palace was a winding and twisting path, but there was no more danger, and the group walked without trouble. One day was enough to reach the end.
At the end of the path was a cube looking palace. The hall of the entire palace was extremely big, almost as big as a football stadium. It had high pillars that seemed to reach the skies and were the pillars that supported the whole place. Otherwise, there was not much stuff in there.
The stone walls of the underground palace had been illuminated by an uncountable amount of long lasting lights, and everyone felt relieved as they left the darkness and entered into the light. Old Hei’s searchlight had lost its function as well, it didn’t seem especially bright anymore.
A scene like this impressed Lin Yi- he admired all the work that those designers and architects have done. The long lasting candle lights, even with thousands of years of history, were still lit up- it was a miraculous sight!
But Old Hei and Xiaoke seemed to see it as nothing out of the ordinary, so Lin Yi and his group kept their faces to a neutral look.
“This is the palace? Why’s there nothing here? And why aren’t these lights extinguished yet, they’re still up,” Elder Yu was an outsider, so he naturally didn’t understand anything.
“Elder Yu, this isn’t the underground palace, it’s only the entrance hall!” Old Hei explained, “What follows now is that we need to search for the true entrance into the palace, and these lights are common in a lot of the super tombs. It’s said that they were made with mermaid scales.”
“Oh? Is that so- what’re we waiting for, then? You guys look for the entrance, I’ll take one of the lights back to do some research on it,” Elder Yu said.
“You can’t!” Old Hei stopped him, “Elder Yu, these lights can’t be extinguished or removed without care, they could activate some traps and lock us here!”
“Hmph! I was just a bit interested, that’s all! These things are commonplace in hidden houses!’ Elder Yu said, pissed and not wanting to admit his fault after being stopped. He started making stories up again.
Old Hei could only smile awkwardly at that, but didn’t say anything else.
“Sparrow, what do you think about the entrance?” Old Hei turned to Xiaoke.
“There are some weird paintings on the walls- perhaps the entrance is hidden in one of them. We can split up,” Xiaoke said as she looked around.
“Good idea- let’s split up. It’ll be faster,” Old Hei nodded, “But don’t move recklessly if you find a trap.”
“Naturally!” Xiaoke nodded.
With that, he started searching with Xiaoke, with even Elder Yu joining in- he wanted to get into the palace quickly and get the items as soon as possible to finish his mission.
Only Lin Yi didn’t move, standing in the center of the palace.
Old Hei didn’t dare meddle with Lin Yi’s decision to stay out of the group, while Elder Yu was simply too lazy too care, also wanting to avoid humiliating himself. They let Lin Yi stand there.
Lin Yi wasn’t looking at the paintings, because in the information Bojia gave him- while he did mention this palace- he said that the secret wasn’t in the paintings, it was in the pillars!
Bojia didn’t say especially why these pillars were so special, but the reminder was enough. A lot of this was guesswork, after all, since the man didn’t come personally.
“Is something up with these stone pillars?” Lingshan said after noticing Lin Yi’s gaze.
“Yes, but I haven’t found anything yet. Look,” Lin Yi looked at a stone pillar as he circled it, and continued looking at the other pillars.
He smiled bitterly- perhaps it was because he wasn’t an expert here, he couldn’t see anything wrong with the pillars.
This wasn’t dangerous or anything, since the jade was being quiet, so Lin Yi stood in front of the pillars to study them.
There were only a couple of paintings, and Old Hei, Xiaoke, and Elder Yu were done with them soon. They checked again, realizing that they were just normal paintings, perhaps just something to send the dead to the afterlife with, that was all.
“We went the wrong route, it seems. Nothing special here,” Xiaoke said, “the last painting was the music notes of a song meant to let him have a nice rest…”
“It seems so,” Old Hei was an experienced veteran himself.
“What now?” Elder Yu was quite pissed- they spent so long, with no results. The hell?
“Let’s see how the male thief is doing,” Old Hei was unwilling, but he had to admit that maybe he found something.
“Mister thief, you found anything?” Elder Yu walked over, not courteous at all.
“No, but there seems to be something up with these pillars. Flying sparrow, what do you think?” Lin Yi didn’t know, but he could remind Xiaoke.
“Oh?” Xiaoke didn’t think about the pillars before, but Lin Yi’s reminder made her pause. Was there something special here?
“Stone pillars?” Old Hei paused as well- the pillars usually only served the singular purpose of holding up the palace, with no other function. These were statues, after all, they couldn’t be moved around, and usually people didn’t use them for traps or mechanisms.
But Lin Yi saying that there was something up with the pillars meant that perhaps they could find something here.
After giving the job to Xiaoke and Old Hei, he sat down and started practitioning, not bothering with the pillars anymore.
