Homestead Survival

148: Saturation Meeting Labor

<25 September 2024, GRAND MESA OF SUMMER, A+> [Theo and Julia] Theo and Julia continued to labor at processing the lions. When they were done, they were joined by Ordus and Kreldar for lunch. Ordus was chatting with Theo and Julia about the work of processing the Lions, and working up to the ents, when a notification appeared for everyone.

They all read the message. Theo spoke first. "Well, looks like things are going to be changing yet again."

Kreldar nodded, "I remember when the clan moved here, there was a note 'bout the gift and the event. Somethin' 'bout one effectin' the other."

Julia looked at Kreldar. "Do you remember what they thought the gift or the event might be?"

Kreldar shook his head. Theo turned to Ordus. "What about you? Do you have any thoughts on what it might be?"

Ordus shook his head. "I don't. It has been many, many years since my world was integrated. Long before I was born. Several generations, as a matter of fact."

"Well, that is unfortunate." Theo stood up and moved to start working on processing the bodies once again.

Ordus spoke once more. "I feel that I should remind you, in case you have forgotten, but Patriarch Karzun wished to meet with you."

"Oh, that's right," Theo said sheepishly.

"Well, let's put this all away and get cleaned up," Julia said.

Kreldar waved her off. "Ye've both been workin' all mornin' at this. Go get cleaned up, Ordus an' I can finish this. Might not be as fast without Theo's skills. But we can still use the creepy table."

Ordus nodded in agreeance. "Indeed. Please let us finish the Lions and smaller ents, we can wait for you to do the larger ents."

Theo looked at Julia, who shrugged. Theo smiled, "Alright, we are going to go use the Mirror Deep Retreat, then let Patriarch Karzun know we are ready."

Theo and Julia walked over to Hestia. When they placed their hands on the Homestead Core, they heard her voice.

"Ah, Theo, Julia. It is good to speak to you again." Hestia said, "Do you have a moment?"

"Maybe?" Julia said, then explained what they were trying to do.

"I will not keep you then." Hestia said. "But please know I must speak to you about the additional land, and specifically the dungeon that is there."

"Understood." Theo said, "If anything crazy happens, let Ordus know. Now then, to the retreat please Hestia."

"Of course." Hestia said, and Theo and Julai vanished from the Overlook.

After roughly three minutes, they were back, looking clean and ready to meet with people. Theo and Julia stepped away from the Plinth, and then Julia sent a message to Patriarch Karzun. "Patriarch Karzun, apologies for the delay, but we are prepared for a meeting whenever you are."

Moments later, a Blue door opened near them, and Theo reached out to grasp the handle and pull it open. Julia walked through first, then Theo, and suddenly they were on an alien planet. The first thing they saw was the area notification floating on their site.

<KARZUN FAMILY ESTATES, D+>

Theo and Julia looked around. Everything was made of shimmering white and red stone and scaled for, well, a dragon. The dull thump, thump, thump of heavy footsteps approached, and they turned to see an absolutely massive dragon approaching.

The deep voice that rumbled out could be felt in their bones. "Welcome to my home, Theo and Julia."

As they looked up, the dragon started shifting form and eventually settled into the familiar shape of Patriarch Karzun. Julia smiled at him. "Thank you for having us. Your home is beautiful."

Theo looked around and silently agreed. It was at a scale that was not anything that would have been built on Earth, but whoever had built it had been skilled, and that skill had come out in the finished work. Patriarch Karzun nodded to Theo. "What do you think?"

"I think that Julia is right," Theo said, still looking around, "whoever built this is talented, and it is well cared for. It is beautiful."

Patriarch Karzun chuckled and started leading them through the massive home. "It is good to have you both here. Before we get to business, I thought we would check on the box you are having us hold, then we can sit and eat."

"That sounds like a fantastic plan," Julia said. And with that, the three of them strolled through the draconian home chatting about what they had been up to lately.
