The God Contest Regina [Progression Fantasy, LitRPG-lite, Apocalypse]

Author Announcement

Hey Everyone!

I'll been a couple months since I've had the time to post a chapter. Getting The Witch of the Castle of Glass ready for publishing with Tapas Entertainment has been a ton of fun, but also a ton of work. It is set for publishing in January, and I've still got of work still to do. I've also continued to update the Royal Road version of that story, with Book 4 launching in November.

As such, I'm putting The God Contest Regina on haitus for now, so I have enough time to do all that while holding down my day job.

But the God Contest Regina is not going away! It's signed with Shadow Light Press for publishing, so once WCOG is published, my attention turns entirely to GCR. And I intend to give it the royal treatment (pun intended). Once WCOG launches, my focus will shift entirely to GCR and I plan to blitz out a ton of chapters! This approach will not only increase my productivity on the story, but the plot will be better since I can focus on one story.

Here's what you can expect:

1) Remastered

I've been working with an amazing professional editor at Tapas, and my storytelling has significantly improved as a result. So, just like WCOG, I will be remastering the previous chapters of GCR to elevate the writing to my current style. This will include some new chapter as well. It is easier to do thiswork now rather than write another fifty chapters only to have to rework them later.

2) Names and Narrative

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

With both stories being pubished, it's time address some problematic similarities between them, such as both using the phrase 'God Contest' and having overlapping character names (e.g. Oracle and Thoth). This is to ensure no copyright challenges pop up in the future, and it will help readers who are reading both stories. This means the name GCR is going to change, so I'd recommend you stay subscribed so you can find the story when I relaunch (see below).

I will also be adjust the plot as part of the remaster, though not nearly as I have been with WCOG. I've said before that I treat my stories on RR as a 'good first draft', but still one that needs to be refined when it heads for publishing. Here are some of the planned changes:

-I will lean harder into Bethany's dream sequences as those are the most fun to both write and read, and helps set the story apart from other litrpgs.

-I'll will be changing the last several chapters, as I realized if I go through with the 'Amazing Race' style Arena, I'll burn through all the interesting places to go in Regina, which robs me of interesting locations in future books. Better to fix that now than push forward.

-I will add non-canonical aftermath sections after each chapter, as readers enjoy them over at WCOG and it has become part of my personal style. As Bethany is not from the city, these will serve as a means of giving the reader fun facts and history about my beloved Regina in a humorous way, enriching the location atmosphere without shoehorning a bunch of descriptive text into the main plot.

3) Relaunch

Once that is all done, and I've written a whole bunch of new chapters (To the end of book 2 or 3), I plan to do a relaunch of the story, likely in Summer or Fall 2026. I've kept this story sleepy by intention (limited ads and shoutouts), but once the remaster is done, I'll be doing an ambitious relaunch to reach Rising Stars before the story moves to traditional publishing. I've got my publisher and a solid author community behind me now, so that will be very exciting!

Thanks for you patience everyone! I appreciate your support, and I look forward to what comes next with God Contest Regina (or whatever the new name will be - feel free to put suggestions in the comments!)

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
