The Mob Priest Will Raise the Heroine

Ch. 230

Chapter 230

Reina left the royal palace and boarded the Grand Shrine's carriage to return home.

Although the academy was off today, Reina had sacred duties at the shrine as the Saint.

There was no urgent need to hurry home, but she had no time to waste. She didn't have the leisure to be having lunch with the Crown Prince.

"Please depart."

"Understood, Saint."

When Reina made the request, the carriage departed immediately.

Alongside the moving carriage, Temple Knights rode in formation.

Even the Temple Knights themselves questioned whether Reina really needed an escort.

"............"

Swaying with the intermittent motion of the carriage... Reina remained silent.

When she was with Clael, Reina always wore a smile as bright as the sun, but when alone, she was like this.

In fact... she could even be considered more irritable than usual right now.

(I haven't seen Clael's face for eleven hours now... I'm starting to suffer from Clael deficiency.)

For the first three months after entering the academy, Reina had lived apart from Clael... but ever since he began working at the academy and they started seeing each other regularly, she had grown more sensitive to his absence.

"Clael..."

Apparently, Clael was enjoying his day off today.

That was a good thing.

He always worked hard, thinking of his students. He deserved a proper rest.

Reina always wanted to be with Clael, but she didn't want to burden him.

She might voice some selfishness, but she never intended to push him beyond reason.

"Clael... Clael... Clael..."

Reina murmured as if dreaming... then suddenly, the carriage came to a stop.

Reina lifted her face and tilted her head.

"Is something wrong?"

"My apologies, Saint."

A Temple Knight outside responded.

"It seems there's an injured person ahead, and we can't pass. Apparently, another carriage that was running ahead hit a child..."

"I'll go immediately!"

Reina made a swift decision and stood up from her seat.

She got out of the carriage and hurried toward the injured person, leading the flustered Temple Knights behind her.

"Ah..."

There lay an unconscious young girl.

Around her, townspeople were trying to help, onlookers had gathered, and the apparent culprits were causing a commotion.

"Out of the way, damn it! Move aside! Do you know who I am!?"

The one shouting in the crowd was a well-dressed middle-aged man.

He looked every bit the noble. Reina didn't recognize his face.

"I have an important business meeting to attend! I can't waste my time on some brat!"

"No, that won't do. Even if you're a noble, you can't just run over a child and walk away!"

The nobleman causing a scene was surrounded by a coachman, guards, and military police who maintained town security.

Judging from the situation... the noble's carriage had run over the girl.

The military police nearby had likely stopped him from fleeing and were trying to detain or question him.

In this world, royals and nobles wield great power.

But... that doesn't mean there's no law.

Even nobles must obey the law, and if they harm someone, they must be punished.

Of course... the punishment for a noble harming a commoner and a commoner harming a noble is vastly different.

"Like hell I'm wasting time on some commoner! Here, take the money and get lost!"

The nobleman scattered money on the ground.

The military police, looking troubled, barely managed to stop the man from leaving.

"Haa..."

Reina let out a sigh.

Even if this was an accident, the offender's behavior made him look like a villain.

That said... it wasn't Reina's job to judge him.

Reina hurried over to the injured girl and knelt down.

"Ugh... ah..."

"It's okay. I'll heal you right away."

The girl had a large gash on her head and internal injuries, but... she was alive.

As long as she wasn't dead, Reina could heal her with Holy Arts.

When Reina activated her Healing Magic, a white light appeared, and multiple wounds vanished in an instant.

"Whoa, she's healed!"

"Silver hair... could she be the Saint from the Grand Shrine!?"

"It's the Saint! The Saint is here!"

The people around Reina, who had healed the girl, erupted in cheers.

Ignoring the praise, Reina checked on the girl... her pulse and breathing were stable. There was no longer anything to worry about.

"Huh... miss, are you an angel? Is this heaven?"

The girl opened her eyes and saw Reina reflected in her brown irises.

"No, this is still the real world. Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah... I'm okay..."

"Then can you tell me your name and where you live? If you start feeling pain or unwell later, go to the shrine, okay?"

"Okay! Thank you, angel lady!"

After getting the girl's contact information, Reina encouraged her to head home.

The girl stood up and left energetically, waving her hand wide. Reina waved back.

"Now then..."

"Hmph! That's enough already, let me go!"

The nobleman leaned back arrogantly, looking annoyed.

He didn't even try to look at Reina—perhaps out of a tinge of guilt.

"............"

The man's attitude was unpleasant... but there was nothing Reina could do.

It wasn't intentional murder but an accident, and if he were punished, it would likely only be a fine.

"Let's go, Saint."

"......Yes, let's."

Urged by the Temple Knight, Reina started heading back to the carriage.

"Hey now, isn't that a bit unjust?"

But... suddenly, a low male voice rang out.

"............?"

When she turned around... a black-haired young man about the same age was confronting the nobleman.
