Chapter 254
The next day, the third day of the trip.
After breakfast, just as they were about to head out for skiing again, a hotel bellboy brought a letter to Clael.
"This letter... is from Prince Eric?"
The letter delivered to the hotel was addressed not just to Clael, but to Reina.
While the names of Clael, Mr. Yurii, and Reina's friends were also listed, the main purpose of the letter was clearly to invite Reina.
One might wonder how he even knew Reina was staying at this hotel... but he is royalty, after all.
It's only natural that he'd be informed of the whereabouts of the Saint, an important national figure.
"Um... is it okay if I read it?"
"Yes, please do."
With Reina's permission, Clael read the letter aloud.
Apparently, the letter was an invitation.
Eric Seincle, the crown prince and one of the main characters, was staying at a nearby hotel and spending time there with his fiancée, Carrot.
Tonight, there would be a small party held at the hotel, and they would very much like Reina to attend... that was the gist of the letter.
"So Prince Eric came here too..."
Clael furrowed his brows.
According to the game's scenario, Eric should have been visiting the neighboring country on a diplomatic mission.
If you were on Eric's route, Reina would accompany him and get caught up in an incident in another country.
(It can't be... Did he really come chasing after Reina? That'd be seriously creepy...)
It's not impossible, but... surely not.
If he had come to chase after Reina, he would've booked the same hotel. Bringing along his fiancée, Carrot Laurel, would be unnatural.
(Maybe he's just using his long vacation to try and appease his fiancée...)
Even in the game, while Eric was drawn to Reina, he still interacted with his fiancée Carrot. Torn between two women, he struggled... and in the end, he chose Reina and condemned Carrot, who had mistreated her.
(Since Reina isn't on Eric's route, his relationship with Lady Carrot shouldn't be too bad. So their engagement probably hasn't broken off...?)
Eric's frequent flirting with Reina is suspicious, but there's been no talk of Carrot bullying her.
Carrot is Reina's non-blood-related sister, but they shouldn't have much interaction.
"It even says they'll deliver dresses by noon... and for everyone, of course."
The letter stated that party outfits would be delivered not just for Reina, but for all her friends as well.
"A party, huh... To be honest, I'm not really interested."
After hearing the contents of the letter, Reina replied indifferently.
"I have no complaints about the food here, and I'm not fond of aristocratic settings."
"But... the crown prince himself invited you, didn't he? Wouldn't it be rude to decline?"
The one who timidly raised her hand was Sharon, one of Reina's friends.
"If I turned down an invitation from His Highness, my parents would scold me..."
Reina aside... for an average noble lady, an invitation from royalty is practically a command. Refusing is almost unheard of unless there's a very good reason.
"It's just a private party, so I don't think it's a problem?"
"That may be true, but still..."
"Having dresses prepared and then declining would be rude..."
Not just Sharon, but Meili and Vanessa also looked troubled.
There's a saying, 'Shoot the horse before the general', and if Eric had invited her friends to set up this development, he's quite the strategist.
"...I suppose we have no choice."
Seeing her friends' reactions, Reina let out a deep sigh.
"Then, let's accept Prince Eric's invitation and attend the party tonight... Is that alright with you, Clael and Mr. Yurii?"
"I have no problem with it."
"I'm fine as well."
They were, after all, her guardians. They didn't suspect Eric, but couldn't let the students go alone.
"It'll be an outing at night... As a teacher, I'll accompany you."
And so... the six of them decided to accept Eric's invitation and attend the party.
What was supposed to be a ski trip had taken an unexpected turn. An unplanned encounter with one of the main characters in a surprising place.
