Wasteland Development Diary

Chapter 199 Heavenly People Fall

For safety, Zhou Yi constructed a space with White Gemstone and secured the Ruby within it.

Then he began to read.

The perspective zoomed continuously, entering the faded space inside the Ruby.

Inside were two dim red light spots.

Zhou Yi first delved into the first light spot.

He found himself transformed into a meteor, plummeting towards the ground.

From a bird's-eye view, he could see a vast fog sea below with flashing lights within.

It was the Dead Sea.

But this Dead Sea was different from what Zhou Yi remembered; the extensive land emerging from the Dead Sea was barren, devoid of any city traces, only sparsely populated by small animals.

His vision was unprecedentedly clear, capable of distinctly seeing insects crawling on the land and leaves fluttering from the airflow, thanks to his unique 360-degree perspective.

Zhou Yi's entire body comprised gemstone blocks as he hurtled down in a Gemstone Body form.

When he crashed into the Dead Sea, he was immediately buffered.

His body gradually became more relaxed, smooth, and changeable.

The sea floor, however, remained unchanged, with all relics from the era of Old Humans intact—tall commercial buildings, elevator shafts, and straight, broad concrete paths divided into residential blocks.

With no humans, it appeared exceptionally empty and neat.

Only Bone Fish and Light Absorption Monsters inhabited the sea floor; no other Guangna Species were within view.

It seemed to be the early stages of the Wasteland Era.

Zhou Yi was now sure that the memories left inside the Ruby belonged to a Heavenly Person.

They had once disassembled part of their body to descend to Earth.

Now, he was retracing the steps of this deceased Heavenly Person.

Strangely, Zhou Yi found that he was not locked to a specific perspective or actions; he could fully control himself.

Was this an… open-type memory?

Could it really be?

Zhou Yi felt a sense of wonder.

He began to reconstruct his body, shaping it into a humanoid form from gemstones, and then he emerged from the Dead Sea.

The compatibility between the Gemstone Body and the Death Light was extremely high, allowing him to rapidly absorb its energy; the previously depleted Blue Gemstones quickly replenished, and his surface soon returned to its energy-rich blue state.

However, Zhou Yi sensed something wrong.

The gemstones on his surface were becoming murky, a thick layer of white scale forming on them and swiftly spreading over his entire body.

This mutation made him feel like a liquid metal robot entering a freezer, his entire body stiffening and becoming difficult to move.

The damaged gemstones kept falling off.

Soon, his entire gemstone body began to crumble, disintegrating into fine sand.

Zhou Yi's perspective grew lower and smaller until it faded into darkness.

...

He woke from the first red light.

Zhou Yi pondered thoughtfully.

The Heavenly People's original bodies could not adapt to this environment; their gemstone structures would quickly become blunt and turn to sand.

Hence, they needed to find a body projection.

Zhou Yi tried several more times.

Each time he entered the red light, he could choose different places to land, but he could never reach the land.

No matter how the process unfolded, it always ended with the gemstones mutating after the crash, the body turning to sand, and then it was over.

He shared this information with Xiao Fu and inquired about the reasons.

Reverse Flow said, "Normally, the memories of lower life forms have fixed trajectories, but the memories of higher life forms are multi-threaded."

"For example, in two hours, an ordinary human goes from Jade City to Mushroom Forest; no matter their choices, they can only take one path. But higher life forms can take many paths simultaneously, thus obtaining vast amounts of information."

Zhou Yi exclaimed, "How is this possible?"

"Through the Great Holy Spirit."

Reverse Flow explained, "We typically observe and interact with the world through its material aspect, which can be called the Outer World. The Outer World is the place where various life forms can appear, with hardly any restrictions."

"The side made of consciousness information is called the Inner World. Mic Masters, being Concept Life, reside in the Inner World."

"Both worlds are interconnected, with crossings and connections."

"Heavenly People, by visiting the Great Holy Spirit in the Inner World, can obtain billions of possible outcomes for a particular area in the Outer World."

Xiao Fu patiently explained a lot.

Zhou Yi drew a simple conclusion. The world is like a giant computer; the Outer World is the hardware, the Inner World is the software.

Heavenly People are visitors from outside, accessing the desired results through the system software, the Great Holy Spirit. This calculation process is diverse, yet the outcomes are consistent.

What manifested was the open-type memory within the Ruby, but the ending was always degradation to sand.

That was the situation.

Zhou Yi immersed himself in the second red light spot.

He transformed into a Gemstone Body form floating in darkness.

The volume was very small, not even one-tenth the size of a Heavenly Person's "cup."

Zhou Yi was incredibly luminous at that moment, his body almost entirely composed of sapphire, covered with a layer of flowing liquid.

The Heavenly People's Gemstone Body apparently also possessed a liquid system similar to body fluids.

This transparent liquid could transform between liquid, solid, and gaseous states.

It improved the flow of the gemstones throughout the body, reducing friction and damage, and could freeze and repair damaged parts.

This layer of liquid enveloped the Gemstone Body, providing a protective isolation layer on the surface to prevent natural energy loss, thus being a highly important life system.

The Dead Gemstone Bodies lacked this layer of liquid.

Zhou Yi speculated that it must have dissipated and evaporated as a result of aging and moving towards destruction.

However, in this memory, he remained stationary.

Just when Zhou Yi was about to give up, finding nothing of interest, and was preparing to return, he suddenly saw something strange floating toward him from the distant blue light belt.

That was a transparent glass pipe.

It was very long, one end merging into blue, while the other end stretched towards him.

Zhou Yi caught it instinctively.

Immediately, pure sapphires rolled out from inside the glass.

They quickly merged into Zhou Yi's Gemstone Body.

Eh?

This resembled the childhood stage of the Heavenly People.

The replenishment of the gemstones was completed externally, originating within the blue light.

Zhou Yi closely observed this glass pipe.

The pipe had an inner and outer layer; the inner was used to transport the gemstones, while the outer contained that transparent liquid.

Both the body fluid and gemstones of the Gemstone Body were supplied from external sources.

He wondered if this supply came from other adult Heavenly People or something else.

While pondering, Zhou Yi noticed something else on the exterior of the double-layer pipe.

That was a kind of unusual semi-transparent gemstone.

They adhered to the outer wall of the pipe, slowly moving back and forth, and there were quite a few of them, causing Zhou Yi initially to think they were part of the pipe's structure.

There was something moving inside those gemstones.

The Heavenly People had exceptionally strong vision.

Zhou Yi focused his gaze and saw that inside the gemstone was a being that should not exist there.

A human male.

He was immersed in the liquid, manipulating the gems on the exterior, sliding along the tracks.

Zhou Yi found it utterly bewildering.

Why was there a person here?

The person inside the gemstone was in a transparent state, with numerous gemstone fibers within his body.

His facial features and limbs were unmistakably human, looking about twenty years old.

Every moving gemstone outside contained a human, both men and women, all young.

They used the gemstones as vehicles or tools, responsibe for supplying gemstones and body fluid to the Heavenly People's Gemstone Body.

Zhou Yi tried touching them with a Black Gemstone.

But as soon as he got close, the memory stopped.

It seemed the two could not make contact.

An observer, the Reverse Flow, noted, "The Heavenly People are a complex group. Be careful how you use this body, and don't get too close to their active blue light areas."

Zhou Yi strongly agreed.

The outer peripheral graveyard was safer.

After all, it was filled with silent Heavenly People corpses.

He decided to gather some information about them first.

This time, he obtained two key pieces of information.

One was that the bodies of the Heavenly People collapsed and turned to dust upon entering Earth, so they could not descend here.

Two was that the Heavenly People were composed of Four-color Gemstones, and there seemed to be a humanoid civilization group behind them, supporting or serving them.

Zhou Yi pondered.

How did the Heavenly People's Gemstone Body structure enter into death?

He could now clearly sense this body.

The natural wear of the Gemstone Body was slow; completely disintegrating into individual gemstones took a long time.

Theoretically, as long as it could be supplied with energy and that specific body fluid, it could live forever.

Yet nearby was a circle of Heavenly People's corpses, and no one came to recycle or process them.

Inside the corpses were still many sapphires.

These were valuable resources.

The Heavenly People group seemed to have their own predicaments.

Various questions flashed through Zhou Yi's mind.

However, the most important task at hand was to gather more corpses to capture the remaining usable sapphires and rubies.

He rested briefly, then threw himself back into the strenuous work of collecting corpses.
