Wasteland Development Diary

Chapter 14 Gang Education

The Mars Division has made significant achievements in both profitability and exploration. Zhou Yi decided to increase resource allocation.

He immediately called over three Moon People and introduced them to Ice Pot.

"These are new colleagues recruited from the Moon."

"Haruk, I don't need to say much. This should be the first time everyone sees its physical form."

"The other two are Sonic and Moke."

The three Moon People, resembling stone gyros, spun around in Room 3101, with life lines extending into various white vortex patterns on their surfaces.

They each completed a Life Core absorption.

Originally Second Life beings, Sonic and Moke have now transitioned out of their original life cycle into the Third Life stage.

Although Haruk entered the Third Life stage earlier, it did not break through to the Fourth Life stage, representing the Light Core Level, after absorbing a new Life Core this time.

Like most beings, Moon People find it increasingly difficult and slow to develop at higher levels.

Haruk stated that it needs to undergo three to four more Life Core fusions to enter the Fourth Life stage.

Every time they absorb a Life Core, Moon People need to hibernate for a long time to complete physiological reorganization. Since they were brought to Earth, they have mostly been in a state of sleep.

The company built special Moon People cabins using over a hundred Floating Hearts to ensure the energy density inside matches that of the Moon, preventing any disruption in their evolutionary integration.

Upon awakening and attempting to enter the outside world, Moon People still showed obvious discomfort.

The energy here is only 1/81 of the Moon's. They struggle to spin, easily leading to physical and mental fatigue, allowing them to be outside for only half an hour before becoming too exhausted to move. The natural environment outside cannot supplement their constant energy consumption.

"...That's the situation."

Zhou Yi looked at Ice Pot and Cat Dali: "Can they work on Mars?"

Ice Pot circled around the three Moon People.

"Their consciousness intensity is sufficient."

"They are mature Skywalkers, their physiological structure is highly resilient. They have long-term drilling experience on the Moon and will quickly get accustomed to the environment there."

Cat Dali also checked them using arcs: "No problem, these brothers have great physical conditions, their radiation resistance is almost as good as the Light Core Body! Very powerful!"

"Mars has large meteor craters with extensive Light Seed deposits, but ordinary bodies cannot enter the high-energy-density underground. They are the most suitable!"

Zhou Yi's initial worry about communication issues has now turned into a non-obstacle.

Thanks to the company's technical personnel.

They discovered that Klip Rock, which forms Moon People, is an insulator but retains rotation, with different Klip Rocks having varying rotational speeds and activity cycles.

These subtle movement differences reflect the individual differences among Moon People.

Initially, the Program Department attempted to decode rotational cycles to obtain a set of codes that could be converted into external information. However, as a consultant, Turing suggested a simpler approach.

"Just use [Consciousness Nerve] to connect with them."

"With so many existing tools in the company, first utilize existing resources before considering further optimization."

"Although Consciousness Nerve isn't very accurate and requires physical connection and manual operators to read, it's sufficient."

"Building Lives have shown effectiveness during internal testing, and Moon People, with similar inorganic structures, can be tested similarly."

The real-world test results were excellent.

Haruk and the other two inquired about the situation on Mars via Consciousness Nerve connection.

Ice Pot provided detailed answers.

For Moon-like Mars, Moon People were both curious and excited; while Earth had Life Cores, the external activity was really restrictive.

While Mars's surface has disasters like dust storms, the underground is relatively stable, becoming a comfort zone long familiar to Moon People.

Both parties hit it off and began discussing specific operational aspects.

...

Zhou Yi took out his diary.

Under the latest major goal "Develop Dead Sea".

He wrote:

——Overview of various world conditions.

——Moon: Danger Level C, Development Difficulty B, concerning one of the Heavenly Person Weapons.

——Mars: Danger Level A, Development Difficulty A, massive Light Seed ore district.

——Mud Tree World: Danger Level A, Development Difficulty?, Cave People, Mud Tree People civilization heritage.

——Jupiter: Danger Level S, Development Difficulty?, concerning another Heavenly Person Weapon.

——Time Master: Danger Level S, Development Difficulty?, can acquire damaged time organs.

Zhou Yi reviewed these places' intelligence.

Jupiter and Time Master are extremely dangerous places, not considered for the short term.

Mars is the company's current main development site.

The Moon is a necessary area for handling Heavenly People.

Mud Tree World is for obtaining Cave People technology, which can provide super accelerators for the company's development.

These three need to be followed up.

But the top priority is mining on Mars.

Accumulating a large amount of Light Seeds through Mars is crucial for having enough resources to develop other places.

Confirming the current priority made Zhou Yi's mind much clearer.

...

Half a month later.

Sha Lang returned from the Dead Sea.

Although its fur was stained with a lot of blood, its eyes were bright, looking very energetic.

"Mr. Zhou, mission accomplished!"

The monkey-like sea person grinned.

"I've successfully negotiated cooperation with the 'Flower Clothes Group,' 'Cross Sea Association,' and 'Three-blade Gang.' They are all large, reputable sea people gangs in East Continent."

"The smallest group, Three-blade Gang, has over a hundred members, while Flower Clothes Group has the most, over 4,000 brothers. In the past, they have cooperated with the Knights, Sea Lord, and Governor."

"I've screened out gangs with bad reputations, those don't last long due to lack of credibility and quickly get eliminated by various parties. Only rule-abiding gangs have a place regardless of how the environment changes."

Zhou Yi handed it a bottle of banana milk drink: "Sit down and talk slowly."

He wasn't very knowledgeable about sea people gangs, falling into a blind area of knowledge.

Sha Lang twisted off the cap, took a sip, and wiped its mouth with its furry back of the hand.

"These three gangs have their specialties."

"Three-blade Gang is more traditional, good at being tough and fierce. They collect protection money, protect some casinos and black markets, but if passing ships encounter monster attacks, they will help."

"If someone offends them and refuses to pay, they will retaliate with assassinations and looting, mainly for revenge and warnings. If you pay, they will deliver on their promises."

Zhou Yi nodded.

A traditional gangster group.

"Cross Sea Association is different." Sha Lang said enthusiastically: "They run an insurance business, but it's against other sea people gangs."

"For example, Three-blade Gang buys accident insurance for each member through Cross Sea Association, paying annual fees. If members die, the gang receives insurance money. This money is split into two parts, half for the gang and half for the deceased's family."

"This business ensures Three-blade Gang has a safety net, and Cross Sea Association has long-term stable income."

"Of course, Cross Sea Association verifies the deceased's identity and circumstances, but generally, payouts are made."

Zhou Yi rubbed his chin as he listened.

The sea people society isn't as brutal and savage as it appears to outsiders.

Their fighting seems more like showcasing power to the outside world to maintain group independence.

They are highly resourceful, with sharp minds.

No wonder they are one of our old human descendants.

"Lastly, the Flower Clothes Group."

Sha Lang said seriously, "They may not have the largest number, but their overall capability ranks high in East Continent."

"When Flower Clothes Group members appear, they wear brightly colored floral clothes. This easily distinguishes them from other gangs."

"Their business has two parts. First, acting as intermediaries, coordinating relationships between external forces and various sea people gangs. Hiring sea people can be done directly through them."

"Second, asset preservation. Gang money comes and goes, often through unjust means, facing normal pursuit and encirclement by knight groups. This is expected."

"But willing to pay, gangs can entrust their earnings to Flower Clothes Group. They disperse and preserve these funds into city properties, merchant ships, some hard-currency goods, and partially Light Seed cash."

"They don't care where the money comes from, just preserving it, minimizing loss due to external influences."

Talking about this gang, Sha Lang showed obvious admiration and praise.

"East Continent differs from West Continent; here, the sea people industry is richer and more diverse. We don't have such operations over there, even large gangs eventually aim for capturing an island, building a base, or setting up a black market."

"Frequent fighting in West Continent leaves no time or space to recuperate, making it hard for highly professional gangs to emerge."

"Initially, West Continent's sea people were thriving more, stronger from frequent battles and wealth plunder, recruiting more brothers... East Continent's sea people were suppressed by Heavenly Kingdom's order. Any large-scale actions were wiped out by Heavenly Kingdom's army."

"But now, the survival strategy in the gap has proved long-term. The West no longer matches the East."

Talking about this, the sea person from West Continent showed some forlornness.

Zhou Yi smiled: "Different environments create different groups, it's normal; everyone has peaks and troughs, don't mind it. Sea people's adaptability is strong, the West Continent sea people surely are changing."

"Indeed."

Sha Lang nodded appreciatively: "Mr. Zhou, you're one of the few giving us positive evaluation!"

Zhou Yi thought.

You're indeed our descendants, facing children and grandchildren adds some bias.

"Actually, hearing the company's name earned highest respect from these gangs, their cooperation intention is obvious."

Sha Lang grinned: "They find your conditions very favorable."

"But they have one small request, especially Flower Clothes Group and Cross Sea Association, a common appeal. If the company agrees, they offer long-term free service."

"Tell me."

"They want...to send their children to Mushroom Forest Primary School for good education, fully covering fees."

Sha Lang scratched his head.

Zhou Yi was stunned.

Indeed, parents around the world put their children first.

Even Dead Sea gang members value education.

Zhou Yi thought briefly: "Mushroom Forest Primary School is limited in scale, can't take too many students. For each of these gangs, I allow 10 enrollment slots, considering future expansions as needed. But going to school must follow school rules."

"Definitely! If they dare act out, just punish them, whether hanging them up or whipping them, cutting hands or stabbing, as long as not killing!"

Sha Lang nodded vigorously.

Zhou Yi struggled to keep a straight face.

Sea people gangs indeed educate their next generation with high intensity.

Soon.

As thirty young sea people enrolled, these gangs began providing the company with a constant flow of sea floor information and synchronized updated Dead Sea deep maps.
