Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion

Chapter 244: Breaking In

They actually all stretched their branches toward the Bone Colosseum's center—the Necromantic Tower!

This rebellious behavior immediately triggered the Bone Colosseum's failsafes.

"Crack! Crack! Crack!"

The ancient, massive Necromantic Tower showed no change,

but these greedy bone trees, without warning,

suddenly withered and shrank one after another...

Before long, the scene returned to calm.

The only difference was the originally rock-solid colosseum bone walls had vanished.

The bone gate swayed like it was drunk, the skull's soul fire on the gateway had gone out.

Everything matched Carlos's expectations.

"This way, the Bone Colosseum's most annoying suppression and containment formation loses its bite.

Now we can move to the next step."

The Bone Colosseum was split into inner and outer layers.

The outer layer was the now-trashed bone wall area.

The bone walls were also called Birth-Bone Walls.

If not destroyed, upon entering,

not only would strength get seriously nerfed,

but the bone walls' branches would rapidly split off, spawning skeletal warriors to launch vicious attacks on trapped enemies.

Shooting fish in a barrel—without special tricks, nine times out of ten would get swarmed by the skeleton horde.

Breaking through the outer layer led to the Bone Colosseum's inner layer—the ancient, frigid Necromantic Tower.

"Without a necromantic master calling the shots,

the Necromantic Tower is basically sleeping."

The only worry was the monsters still lurking in the tower's experimental areas.

"After getting inside,

Purple Vortex will scout ahead, Ginya will watch our six.

Don't get bogged down with those monsters.

Go straight along the right corridor, bust into the deepest lab,

and haul out a chest from there!"

This command came after Carlos's careful planning.

Just snagging that necromantic manuscript would nail this trip's objective.

As for exploring the rest of the Necromantic Tower—no rush.

"Roar!"

"Got it!"

Both retainers received orders, becoming two streaks of light, directly flying over the outer layer's withered bone trees and landing before the Necromantic Tower's sealed door.

Creak!

Purple Vortex pushed with both hands, and the Necromantic Tower's door opened like butter. Thick necromantic energy, almost solid, rushed out.

Both retainers' soul fires danced excitedly. They looked at each other and marched inside...

...

"Roar!"

Creak!

Creak!

Crack!

Crack!

Shortly after stepping through the door, roars and bone-breaking sounds suddenly erupted.

Various skeletal monsters of different shapes, catching the scent of intruders, jumped to attack.

Dark Purple Force Field suppression, Withering Domain coverage—

these skeletal monsters, at most high-tier, couldn't possibly match the two retainers.

The two retainers tore through like a tornado, white bones scattered on the ground as they followed the right passage straight to the depths...

Carlos saw everything.

"This skeletal monster with its buff build should be a prototype for Skeleton Warriors.

That one with blackened bones shows traces of Flame Skulls..."

From these skeleton monsters, Carlos saw echoes of many skeletal warrior evolution types.

"And... a dual-sword skeleton packing two alchemical swords?"

The fusion of alchemy and skeleton warriors—this necromantic archmage's research ran pretty deep.

Along the way, the two retainers encountered only skeletal creatures, no other types of experimental monsters.

"Time—after endless years, only skeletal experimental monsters could tough it out until now in the Necromantic Tower."

Carlos almost instantly got the picture...

...

About half an hour later, Purple Vortex and Ginya arrived one after the other at the deepest part of the right corridor, before an ancient, busted bone door.

The bone door was trashed,

obviously violently destroyed by some force from the inside.

On the remaining bone fragments, traces of once-intricate formation patterns were barely visible.

A glimpse revealed the whole story—

when this frigid bone door was intact, it must have been loaded with extremely powerful formations.

In his vision,

nasty claw marks were clearly visible on the remaining bone door.

Based on these traces, the door got wrecked roughly several hundred years ago.

"Just from the claw marks, the creature wasn't very big.

What kind of beast could this be?"

Carlos had a gut feeling that the monster that busted through this door was probably still alive somewhere in the Necromantic Tower.

...

Under Carlos's direction, the two retainers didn't immediately enter this deep doorway.

The next second,

Dark Purple Force Field from Purple Vortex's feet began flowing like water toward the busted bone door...

Ginya covered the rear, mopping up the constantly incoming skeletal monsters...

"Bang!"

Under the crushing pressure of the Dark Purple Force Field,

the damaged bone door was instantly knocked flat, continuously flowing in to scope out the interior.

"Smooth as silk, no obstacles whatsoever."

Carlos focused hard.

After the Dark Purple Force Field successfully blanketed everything inside,

Purple Vortex moved forward on the Dark Purple Force Field, entering the room.

In his vision,

scattered materials lay everywhere on the floor.

Various experimental instruments had toppled and broken, obviously violently trashed by some creature.

Claw marks remaining on the walls were almost identical to those on the door.

In the center stood a spherical cultivation device, three times human height, its cultivation solution long dried up.

The cultivation device's side had a large hole punched through it.

Not hard to figure that the mysterious creature that broke out was likely the culprit behind the room's chaos.

The Dark Purple Force Field covered everything in the room. Carlos directed Purple Vortex to begin searching.

"Remember it's under the floor in a corner."

The thought transmitted,

Dark Purple Force Fields in all four corners immediately got busy, penetrating and lifting the floorboards.

Sure enough,

under the floorboards in the front-left corner, a cavity appeared.

The secret formation covering the cavity had long since crapped out, revealing a gray-white ancient bone chest.

"Bingo."

Seeing the bone chest, a huge weight finally lifted from Carlos's heart.

"Grab it and let's get the hell out!"

"Roar!"

Dark Purple Force Field surged, wrapping around the bone chest, lifting it into the air and quickly placing it in Purple Vortex's hands.

With the prize secured, both retainers immediately hauled ass out...

Withering Domain clearing the path, Dark Purple Force Field providing cover, they steamrolled all blocking skeletal monsters like a hurricane.

Real smooth, they burst out of the Necromantic Tower and left the Bone Colosseum's range.

"The ruin's exit is at the starting spot."

Carlos directed his retainers to channel spiritual power at the weak point between the ruin and Material Realm space.

Immediately the weak space went haywire, forming a spatial passage, but shaky as hell.

"Now!"

Seizing the moment,

Ginya's Shadow Wings fluttered, Purple Vortex condensed propellers behind it, roaring as they spun,

becoming two streaks of light flying into that unstable spatial passage...

...

"Nice work."

Carlos adjusted his armor, looking at them with approval and patting both retainers' shoulders as reward.

"Roar!"

Purple Vortex's mouth stretched wide, joy spilling over.
