Ishihara Taichiro mentally cursed every ancestor of Sato Yuudou as he forced himself to stabilize his emotions and asked urgently, "Please tell me, which hospital is it?"
"Hokkaido University Hospital."
"Ah! Thank you." After Ishihara Taichiro hung up the phone, he didn't bother with anything else and rushed to the hospital.
.........
Two and a half hours had passed since Aoyama Haruko was taken into the delivery room. Her screams of agony were intermittent, causing Aoyama Xiu Xin's heart to ache.
But there was nothing he could do; all he could manage was to pace back and forth outside the room with a grave expression, his fists clenching and unclenching as he silently prayed for divine protection.
Four police officers now stood guard in the hallway, arranged by Nakamura Shinichi to be at Aoyama Xiu Xin's disposal in case anything needed to be taken care of while he couldn't leave.
"Clang!" The door of the delivery room opened, and a doctor emerged, asking, "Who is the family member of the patient?"
"Me!" Aoyama Xiu Xin immediately stepped forward and said, "The patient inside is my sister-in-law; my brother is already on his way here on a flight to Sapporo. How is my sister-in-law doing? Is she in any danger? If there is any risk, please make sure to save the adult at all costs!"
The child could be let go, but the sister-in-law had to be saved.
"Ah! Minister Aoyama, rest assured, your sister-in-law has had some complications with the baby's positioning due to a fall, so the delivery is proving to be difficult and might require some more time," the doctor recognized Aoyama Xiu Xin.
"That's good, that's good," Aoyama Xiu Xin sighed with relief and bowed deeply, "I leave everything in your hands."
The doctor nodded and went back into the delivery room.
He had just taken a moment to explain the situation to the family to prevent excessive worry among those waiting outside.
As Aoyama Xiu Xin watched the door of the delivery room close again, his anxiety remained heavy, but it no longer held the same fears of the unknown as before.
"Minister Aoyama! Minister Aoyama!" Twenty minutes later, Ishihara Taichiro rushed out of the elevator and attempted to approach Aoyama Xiu Xin but was stopped by two police officers.
From a distance, Aoyama Xiu Xin watched the scene with a frown and sent a police officer to inquire about the situation.
Shortly after, the officer returned to report, "Minister, the man claims to be Ishihara Taichiro, the president of the Imperial Pole Society, and he has come to apologize to you."
"Imperial Pole Society," Aoyama Xiu Xin muttered with a sneer and waved dismissively, "Tell him to get lost."
Even though the doctor's words had reassured him somewhat, he didn't want to see Ishihara Taichiro until he could see with his own eyes that the child and his sister-in-law were safe and sound.
"Ah!" The officer bowed and returned to the waiting Ishihara Taichiro, speaking arrogantly and with a cold face, "Minister Aoyama does not wish to see you."
Ishihara Taichiro felt bitter inside, wanting to shout out to Aoyama Xiu Xin but fearing a negative reaction, so he didn't immediately leave but instead waited patiently in the hallway.
He was now even more concerned about Aoyama Haruko and the child in her womb than Aoyama Xiu Xin was.
About half an hour later, the ding of the elevator signaled its doors opening once again, this time revealing Aoyama Sosuke, followed by a young man carrying a bag.
Aoyama Xiu Xin glanced over and, without waiting for the officers to intercept, he called out, "Let them through."
The two officers, who had been about to stop Aoyama Sosuke, stood still and bowed to him.
"Mr. Aoyama..." Recognizing the striking resemblance between the two men, Ishihara Taichiro deduced that the newcomer must be Aoyama Xiu Xin's brother, a National Member of Parliament, as well as the husband of the woman in the delivery room and the father of the child. He promptly seized the opportunity to try and speak with him.
But Aoyama Sosuke directly ignored him, hurried past him, leaving Ishihara Taichiro embarrassed and at a loss after only getting half a sentence out.
"How is she? Haruko is okay, right?" Aoyama Sosuke walked up to Aoyama Xiu Xin and asked with concern.
Aoyama Xiu Xin relayed the doctor's exact words to him.
"May Amaterasu bless us," Aoyama Sosuke prayed for the nephew in his ex-wife's womb before asking about the cause, "Isn't her due date still a month away?"
"There was an accident..." Aoyama Xiu Xin explained what happened, glancing at Ishihara Taichiro who was not far off, and said, "That man is the president of the Imperial Pole Society."
Aoyama Sosuke turned back and gave Ishihara Taichiro a cold, icy look, "Idiot! These right-wing extremists shouldn't even exist. If anything happens to Haruko, they must pay with blood for blood!"
Although he didn't know what Aoyama Sosuke had said,
Ishihara Taichiro knew from the other's knife-like gaze that it was certainly nothing good. His head throbbing, he could only pray for the mother and child to be safe in the delivery room.
"Brother, have you changed secretaries?" Aoyama Xiu Xin noticed the young man carrying a bag standing behind Aoyama Sosuke.
"Fushan Kuiyong, it was you who introduced him to me." Aoyama Sosuke pointed to his new secretary and continued, "Hongta has been with me for several years; I can't keep him by my side as a secretary forever, so I let him pursue his own political ambitions. Kuiyong has also been doing a great job."
After entering Congress, he naturally had to cultivate and support his own political force, so he had placed his former secretary, Ashida Hongta, in an official position at the Saitama Prefecture city hall.
"Minister Aoyama," Fushan Kuiyong bowed respectfully to Aoyama Xiu Xin. If it weren't for his recommendation to Aoyama Sosuke, he'd still be a mere errand boy at the Saitama Prefecture city hall.
"Ah, it's you." Aoyama Xiu Xin's face showed a flash of realization. The youngest son of Fushan Yingzhao, Staff Director and Sapporo Garrison Commander of Northern Staff Chief, he smiled and said, "I'm friends with your father. Do well with my brother, and you'll have a future."
"Hi! I will definitely live up to the expectations of the Minister and MP!" Fushan Kuiyong declared resolutely.
"Wah~ Wah~"
Aoyama Xiu Xin was about to say something else but was interrupted by a loud cry of a baby. He and Aoyama Sosuke exchanged looks and headed towards the delivery room together.
"Clang!"
The doctor who had removed his gloves came out.
"Congratulations, Minister Aoyama, on the joy of your nephew. Both the lady and the baby are safe. Even though he was born a month premature, the baby's health indicators are all normal."
"Great, great, great!" Aoyama Xiu Xin, overwhelmed with joy, repeated the word thrice. His face flushed red as he rushed past the doctor and into the delivery room impatiently.
The doctor, smiling, shook his head and gave Aoyama Sosuke, whom he did not recognize, a slight bow before leaving on his own.
Just as he reached the elevator, an agitated Ishihara Taichiro stopped him and asked, "How is she? Is everything okay?"
"Who are you..." The doctor looked confused.
Ishihara Taichiro grabbed his collar, hysterically asking, "Are the mother and child really alright?"
"Nothing's... wrong, everyone's fine," the doctor, startled, shook his head frantically, his face ashen.
Ishihara Taichiro released him, gasping heavily with relief. Everything was fine, everything had to be fine. As long as they were safe, so was he.
