Chapter 131: But We Won Right?

But We Won, Right?

"But we won, right?"

"Yeah you won," said Talia, "Arthur apparently killed it."

"Yeah, I saw, if he didn't do that thing was going to."

"Kurt," said Talia, "you almost died, how are you taking this so well?"

"It's not the first time I woke up like this. By the third time, I guess you're used to it," still in the fountain's waters.

"Third?"Talia looked at him with worried teary eyes, "No Kurt. That's not okay"

"Well, this was definitely the best time."

"Huh, why?"

"Because," Kurt grabbed Talia's face and gave her a passionate kiss, "this time you were here."

Talia blushed at him, "Don't think that enough" she whispered.

"Anyway, I'm starving."

"Really?"

"Hey, what have I been eating?"

"Okay the mess hall will be open," said Talia. "Get dressed, I don't want those other girls looking at my man."

They had gotten a meal in the mess hall, and a lot of the goblins and Elves had greeted him warmly. He had to tell everyone to stop and let him eat. But there was a rowdy audience; the goblins usually were on a high for a while after a win. And the elves seemed to enjoy it as well. Talia gave a mean look at one of the female elves who ho turned her head away. There was a stew of meat, vegetables, and potatoes that they were eating today.

"So I kind of see the benefits of Darien a lot clearly now," said Kurt.

"Yeah," said Talia, "the lich might have just avoided him."

"Well at least it's over," said Kurt.

"I've actually been thinking about Lord Darien, I think we should meet him again."

"What? Why?"

"To ask him why of course the real reason."

"Isn't that dangerous? What if he reacts wrong to me not knowing?" said Kurt.

"You could ask Layla, but for some reason I don't think she'll tell you."

"What makes you think she even knows?"

"Everything about her."

"What do you mean?"

"Don't you see?"

"See what?"

"The only one that is lying to you is Layla, she's hiding something about this. Even Sara didn't know where you were, I had to force Layla to even see you."

"Yeah, she's always been secretive about that."

"Don't act like you haven't been acting like you didn't think something was up."

"Yeah."

"So confront her, I can't do it. The only reason I could force her was because of our engagement."

"Why the sudden change in you about her? Just that?"

"Kurt, that's well and you and her, it's all connected. None of your aura's are normal. And it's not just you. Sara has some of it too, not as much but it's there."

"What's there?"

"The pattern, the way it moves, I didn't see it all at first but it's there. The dragon's blessing helped my eyes. It doesn't come with instructions. Come on, you have to see it, she is different from the other fae. You're different from other guardians."

"I mean I don't really get it, I thought all the fae are secretive about their wells, but Mary is. Cindy, I actually never bothered to look for its exact location, it never came up, That might not have been an accident. And Paul…"

"Paul?" said Talia. "Who's Paul?"

Kurt looked at Talia, he never told Talia about Paul. And how his well was actually not on this side of the gate but on earth. It was something they were hiding from the Valentine clan. Kurt kind of wanted it to stay that way.

"Kurt, I'm on your side," said Talia, "don't worry about the clans, they don't know everything you and I know. We have to talk about that at some point." Talia looked around the mess hall, "This might not be the best place actually."

"It's not that simple."

When they exited the mess hall Tom was waiting for them, that was good Kurt needed an update from him. They made their way up to his house.

"So how many casualties did we suffer?" asked Kurt first.

"Ten goblins died, two elves, several mounts. The griffins also lost one, but he was an older one they said."

"And many were injured."

"Yes, but your healing paste is quite effective sir."

"Is there something else you need to say?"

"I think you'd like to hear about Warlord Travis's trip to Castle Bright Flame."

"Did he find out who closed the gate?"

"We believe so, there was a group there, and he was wearing a symbol we believe represents the shadow clan, but it was clear that he was not the one in charge. There was a man he believed to be the one who closed it."

"So what do we know about him?"

"That he is very dangerous, he has a wand."

"A wand?" said Kurt.

"Yes sir."

"It's that powerful."

"If you know how to use it, and it appears this man does," said Tom.

"So what did Travis do?"

"Well he found out about the man and that they opened the gate to somewhere else, this time it's smaller."

"So the fire clan is still out there?"

"We don't believe so, it appears that either they have been taken by the shadow clan, or the man with the wand is the boss. That part isn't completely clear."

"That's troubling," said Kurt.

"Yes sir, a wand user would have taken the entire Bone army."

"What?"

"As I said, wands are incredibly powerful, maybe you don't understand," said Tom, "there are wands that are just like sticks, like Joe's staff. But some wands have spoken their name. A wand user is someone with a wand like that."

"The elves said something like that about blades."

"Yes, but with a wand, it's a magical tool by nature when they awaken the magic power is more so. It's not supposed to cut you."

"The True Sorcerer," said Talia.

"Maybe," said Kurt.

Tom seemed confused, but the two of them told them the story about how Valantine's gate had been made by a mysterious man who called himself the True Sorcerer. Maybe the naming of the wand had him in that mindset.

"So that's all that happened?"

"Yes sir but, the gate opened somewhere, there is an activity, we would have to send a larger force to get the Fae."

"So we still don't know much," said Talia.

"More than we did. I mean that gate could be closer to you than us now."

"That's true. I didn't think of that."

"So what about confronting Layla?" said Kurt.

"Then I guess you're coming with us."

"With you?"

"To the next town, that would be the best time."
