Maliki was in some form of fire, holding back to illuminate the showdown golems. A large light spear tore through the gate. Knocking several of the creatures down.
"See that one," said Talia. She pointed at a particular shadow creature. Not the largest but it had large horns and its form seemed a bit more fluid than the rest it stood and moved like a trunk of a tree gliding across the land. Many of the other creatures could seem to bend that a little as well.
"It's different from the rest."
A rhino shadow golem came running at Kurt. And a knight version came as Talia. Maliki had a smaller one come at him.
Harvey was getting ready to protect everyone's flanks. His four heads arrange themselves around the party. And letting loose a flame and a water jet.
One of the swords swirling around Talia came out in front and confronted the shadow knight, but the sword was blocked. The shadow knight sword glowed with a blue power. "Ohh these can block."
The two other light swords started to attack the knight's flank as the one in front of it was engaged in a battle.
Kurt was faced with the rhino. And moved but the rhino reacted. Splitting into a blurring web of illusions,. Kurt attempted to dodge but was grazed by the animal. He shifted place with an illusion on the other side and took a vertical slash down through it.
It bashed the shadow with power but didn't slice through it. Kurt wasn't holding that deeper power as well as before. So it wasn't working as he intended. He found the shine was skilled at using Kurt's own shadow to block Maliki's light as well.
The rhino made a quick turn of his head and hit Kurt causing him to be pushed to the side. He stumbled but managed to regain his balance after an awkward few steps.
Talia had managed to stab the knight she was fighting with the hero of her swords, slicing the creature down. Her ability paired better against the opponents. The rhino most likely would have been sliced down immediately by one of the light swords or the lance.
Maliki rushed to the rhino Kurt was fighting. He was still encased or transformed into flames. And struck a fist into its body. Then as he opened his hand the entire creature's flame was bathed in the fire. The fire consumed itself quickly and the rhino was no more. The goatman apparently had a spell that could do that for him.
"Thought that might work on them," said Maliki. "It would be best if we worked together," he looked over at Talia. "She seems to be fine on her own.
From outside the walls there was a burst of noise as well. The plan was to separate at least a few of them. At least one had been struck out there now. Kurt positioned himself near Harvey. The fact was he wasn't being much of a help here.
He watched as Talia could slice through the shadow creatures with ease. And felt he had a lot more to go. He took one down where that power was now. He lacked control. Kurt tried to breathe and remember the feeling. The beating of his heart was weak focus.
One step.
An illusion appeared dashing at a shadow golem.
Two steps.
Another illusion, another golem.
Three steps.
Kurt closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. Thud. There it was.
Four steps.
Two shadow creatures down. Slashed with the illusions poofing out of the air, Kirt had moved through and between them. Kurt stared up at a third who had somehow blocked the attack, it was practically instant. It was the same creature Talia had pointed out before.
A tendril came from its body and struck Kurt's side pushing him to the side. The creature didn't continue the attack but moved away toward the castle's entrance.
King Luther had managed to charge through the gate using the light lance he welded. Now inside the courtyard. The troops were pressing the shadow golems. There were only a few left to defeat.
Kurt pursued the special creature that was in a full retreat. It was probably the main one or something. Kurt didn't know how golems worked exactly. Never having the power himself. Hopefully it meant it was over when this one went down.
Kurt chased the creature through the entrance. And the creature spoke, "you can barely control that power. What if I just stop and kill you."
"The rest will come," Kurt said as the creature never slowed down to activate the threat.
"You don't even understand what you are up against," said the creature.
"Some spell craft illusion, wherever the person that made you is."
The creature laughed. "Is that what you think, that I was summoned." The creature's form expanded and painted the walls of the hallway they were in. Like the shadow creature just melted into the existing shadows, it was a form that was in front of him.
"You can do nothing about what will come to you," said the shadow creature, "Neptune's temple."
Kurt used some of the red aura inside of him and let out a few thin slashes at the walls. The red liquid was being avoided by the shadows. "Why dodge it then? If there is nothing I can do?"
They had made their way into a particular room. And in front of Kurt was a boulder structure in the form of a doorway and inside it was the Valantine's gateway to the Earth.
Shadows along the walls came melding into the form he had before directly in front of the gateway and he walked through. Kurt came with him but had lost sight of him when he moved to the right of the gate way.
Come g out to earth Kurt looked and only saw a mass of shadows disappearing into the distance run I over the walls. Kurt wouldn't be able to chase him anymore.
