Chapter 159: Darien’s Response

The next day, Kurt and Layla met to talk about Darien before going there.

"What do you think will happen?" said Layla, "I know I said I needed to talk to him but I've never been in front of a dragon."

"He's going to be very confused."

"Confused?"

"Yes."

"Better than angry I guess."

"Certainly."

They left where Talia, Justin and Luther were there to greet them. It was decided that it would be the four of them. Mostly because Luther was still wary of Talia. She hoped to clear that up, she had told Kurt.

They left the ground heading to the train station as it was normal to call Darien from the main castle.

"I guess we won't have to worry about moving," said Talia, pointing up to the sky. Darien had already moved from his flying island and was heading directly toward them. "We should go to the place he came before here."

King Luther looked up in a bit of disbelief but that dragon was moving toward them there was no doubt. Moving toward the area big enough to contain the dragon he fell from the sky gracefully. In front of them. This time Darien didn't seem as subservient.

"Two of you," Darien spoke, staring at Layla.

"Yes," said Kurt, "may I introduce Princess Layla…of the fae."

The dragon brought his head down his long neck allowing him to take a proper look at Layla. He looked back at Kurt then towards Layla again. And pulled back to his position.

Darien spoke, "we need more information?"

"About what?" said Luther.

"The castle where the sorcerer was."

Layla gave a wide smile, "that is actually why I'm here."

Darien turned back not bowing, "you should state your god, Horus has told me to consider you," turning towards Kurt, "equal."

"It would be Neptune I suppose," said Layla.

"Neptune is dead."

"Yes. But equal is fine."

"About the castle, where is it?" Darien grumbled.

"We are planning an attack on the castle," said Luther, "that is why they are here actually."

"An attack?"

"A rescue mission," said Layla.

"You plan on rescuing the Sorcerer?"

"No, the fae. We want to bring you because of the sorcerer's presence."

"Fae can only move with their guardian like you now."

"That was true," said Layla, "but not anymore."

"You are a very strange creature," said the Dragon.

"One of a kind I'd say," said Layla.

"So you wish me to bring you?"

"Ohh no, you would be coming with us."

The dragon laughed, "and how would I do that? Ride you little fae."

"Very funny my Lord," said Layla. "We would slip back to my well."

"You didn't!"

"Justin's well is all his."

"So that's how you've been getting back and forth."

"And then our forces would ride and you would follow us directly to the castle."

"Why not just come with me?"

"The process will take time and we are not sure who is there right now."

The discussion seemed to drag on about how they would do this or that. Darien was getting a bit annoyed wanting to rush there. And how the whole process would happen and not just be given away by the flying dragon approaching. They are not known for their stealth. And with the shadow clan the cover of night would be to their advantage.

"There's another way," said Kurt. "The gate"

"It would take a bit of moving back and forth," said Layla. Who looked up at the dragon. "But it's doable."

"I can't go through the gates. I can not even see them."

"Not their gates," said Kurt. "You should be able to go through ours."

This took the dragon by surprise but he seemed pleased with the arrangement. All that was left was details.

Things went well after they had figured out the hardest part. They would prepare the troop and set out to Castle Bright Flame and when they were close enough. Layla would open a gate near him.

The main problem was that this meant Darien would have to spend some time on Earth. And that was something they would have to figure out. There were remote places. They would have to find a place on the road to keep it.

There were enough mountains to hide the dragon and they would bring him some food to hold him over.

Kurt didn't exactly like the idea of the dragon staying on earth. That would cause a lot of problems. Even if they temporarily closed Valentine's gate it wouldn't be possible to make it large enough for Darien to fit through. The design wasn't meant for such large creatures.

The entire process would take a few weeks to move the troops, the gates and find the locations to do everything right.

Talia and Kurt had found themselves together again.

"You think this will work?" said Kurt.

"It is very risky, but Darien seems determined to get there for some reason."

"It must have been wherever he went and talked to. Horus or something."

"Yeah I don't know much about that," said Talia, "not much on sharing that dragon."

At least there was some hope that they could pull it off. Without enough knowledge about the enemy having the heavy hitter would ensure they could handle anything that could come for them in the future.

As long as they got there in the end everything should work out. Either we can take some revenge or set up a power structure to do that later. Going directly to the clan headquarters was very risky in itself. They at least seemed to want to avoid the dragon.

After the meeting Darien went back to his home in the sky. Luther seemed pleased they had a course of action to take along with Layla wanting to free her kind from whatever remained at the castle.

They had to make some preparations before they could do much though. Find where to keep the dragon and make the trip go back. Find the best solutions for all their problems.
