Chapter 76: The Trial of Princess Layla

Clan Leader Tyson, walked to the throne before Kurt and Layla, and sat down. And gave them bith a eye up and down.

"These are the two that have been giving me so much of a problem?" said Tyson.

"Yes, sir," said Arthur.

"The fae who would call herself Princess, and her little Lord?" The crowd had chuckled at the little Lord's comment. Is that what they were calling Kurt?

"Yes, sir," said Layla, "I am Princess Layla of the Fae, and this is Sir Kurt."

"And you speak," said Tyson.

"I must ask, is there a reason you brought me here, I carried the King seal, you acted outside of your jurisdiction? From my understanding this is illegal under human law."

"You're not human."

"I assure it is illegal to the Fae as well, one that is severely punished."

Tyson laughed, "Punished? illegal? You don't normally even talk to each other, you're submissive, you're from here as well, Cindy told us, that makes you a Fae under the Fire Clan's claim."

"Claim? You claim me, for existing? And thus I am what your property?"

"Pretty much, you escaped us, we are only getting back what is rightfully ours, I'm sure the Kingdom will understand."

"I see, all wrapped in a bow for you. I'm like a pet, or mount who was lost."

"Very much so, we have missed you," said Tyson with a smile, "But I'm not unreasonable, it's simple you and your little lord here submit, we come in and take over your little base you have. And you'll be under the fire clan, of course under a bit of watch."

"I assume you're also asking me to order the goblins down as well, and they would have to submit as well."

"Yes, you are a smart one, don't worry, I was assured you'd see reason in this matter and we haven't done anything to them, yet. I wouldn't want to hurt what is going to be mine."

"And if I were to refuse this offer was it? To be your pet."

"We have ways to convince you, and this good version of the deal is a little time sensitive. If you make this easy for us, we will see no reason to make it hard for you, I actually respect the effort." taking a finger and pointing it at himself, "If you can believe that, but if you are understandable, we can understand the tantrums of some children in time. Transitions are always difficult."

"And I would think this would be the answer to my own demand as well?"

"Your demand?"

"To stop hunting my kind, I thought I said it clearly to Sir Arthur."

The crowd laughed, Tyson laughed. The only ones not laughing were Kurt and Layla. After a bit it died down.

"Humans," said Layla loudly, " you're all so arrogant aren't you? Here in another world, you just walk right in and swing a sword at it, and think it's obvious humans are now in charge. The higher being, top of the food chain is it? And so self righteous about it."

"You do realize your situation here."

"I do, but I believe you do not."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Above all humans, even with all that intelligence, numbers, equipment, are just always so predictable," Layla gave a sigh.

"We weren't the ones that just walked right into our trap."

Layla smiled, "you see it's that right there." she waved her finger, "So sure of the truth is, so sure of what's happening, but to me you can't even begin to see it. Not even for one moment, not a single one, did you think. Maybe I made it a bit too easy to be captured?," she smiled, while making her posture in the air a little taller and straighter. "That perhaps I am not just simply standing here for no reason of my own," she smiled widely, in an elegant pose.

Kurt instinctively pushed mana into his eyes, And finally saw, clear as day, Layla was certainly not just simply standing there. She was doing something else on another plane. How long had she been doing it? And what was she doing?

The king's facial impression turned sour, "What do you mean?"

"You just walked me in here, right into the middle of all your power, very politely I must say," turning and nodding at Arthur for a moment, "And I'm standing right next to my guardian, you really have no idea about us, you have no idea how truly dangerous a Fae can be, I can tell, my guardian is far stronger than any one of you, and with my help. You don't understand our nature at all."

"You can't be thinking you can take us all."

"The thing is, I'm afraid you are under the mistaken impression that I am in your trap, but unfortunately…" Layla snapped her fingers two fae appeared kneeling in front of her, and Kurt got a glance and saw Cindy was standing next to Arthur, "…you are all in mine, I am so happy you all gathered to be in it."

One of the unfamiliar fae got up and grabbed Kurt then Arthur, Layla, Kurt, Cindy and the two other fae had slipped to somewhere else.

"What the hell just happened?" said Kurt.

"I'm sort of asking that as well," said Arthur holding his hand on his sword.

"I'm sorry Arthur but Cindy insisted that you should not be hurt, so, you are going to be my prisoner for a bit," said Layla.

"We are still in Dakota Spring, this is my well," said Arthur.

"I don't have a lot of time, this may be uncomfortable," Layla said, opening up her palm toward the Fountain structure, and it seemed to fold and suck into her hand, the fountain Cindy and Arthur seemingly swallowed, "Ohh good that was way faster than I was expecting, and we are off to the next one, the one under the Bright Flame castle is preferable."

"What's happening?" said Kurt as he was grabbed again and slipped to yet another fountain structure, this one seemed dark and underground.

"Seriously Layla!" said Kurt.

"Kurt I promise I'll explain, but we don't have the time but we sort of need your help here, I need you to break this fountain right now, the faster the better," said Layla. "They will eventually be coming, and there is another wellI promise we will get out, get back , and I will tell you, we just have to hurry. So break this fountain NOW!"

Kurt made a water fist and struck the fountain with a hard hit, and the entire thing shattered, he saw a blinding light turned away, by the time he turned back Layla seemed to have swallowed it again, there was one last Fae left.

"Just one more Kurt, and can you be ready to make a big water ball, you don't have to hit anything, just as big as you can" said Layla.

"Are you stealing their Fae?" said Kurt.

"Stealing?" said the unfamiliar Fae, "I am alive, not something that can be owned nor stolen. You told me he was…."

"He's confused," Layla said hurriedly, "we got to go."

"Rescueing? Sorry I didn't mean," said Kurt, "I have no idea what's going on here, and I've slipped through space. That's always a little disorienting."

"Yes, rescuing, that's better" said the Fae as he grabbed both Layla and Kurt to another well. Everything. It happened so fast, he could bare remember what the places looked like.
