Chapter 84: Jerry Drinks the Waters

Jerry was outside the pillar and had the same tentacles as Sara. They were not moving very smoothly at all. Jerry hadn't taken the waters before. Kurt was wearing his cloak and Harvey had snuggled a spot inside of it, grabbing the cloak and not Kurt thankfully. He was completely hidden though, as it was on the inside, and seemed to be sleeping or at least resting.

"So you finally decided to take us up on the offer," said Kurt.

"After yesterday, it seemed like the right thing to do."

"You were there?"

"No, but yes. I saw the fire clan start moving in and luckily I was able to get the carriage and the horses through the gate before there was that standstill."

"Good, you shouldn't have been."

"Yeah, but I think I was being a little naive myself," said Jerry, trying to push a small stone, "you all really make it look easy."

"Yeah, it takes some practice, eventually everything starts to feel more natural and you don't need to put all the mental effort in, you have to figure out the flow of the magic, it's a little different for each one," said Kurt.

"It's a weird feeling, there is something there, maybe I'm too old to learn."

"I wouldn't say you're doing much worse than Sara's first time."

"Really, she seems to like having them as an extension of her body," said Jerry.

"Just keep doing what you're doing, something will click," said Kurt as he watched Jerry try to pick up a stone and it slipped out of the tentacle's grasp, "eventually."

"I wish I could ask Sara."

"Why can't you?"

Jerry looked at Kurt with a confused glance, "I mean, I can't just walk into the Dutchery. It's sort of weird."

"Ohh, yeah that, you can ask me to take you, or you can just yell for Mary."

"Wait, just yell for Mary, that's it?"

"That's what I did last time. But I can just slip us there."

"Like that disappearing act yall do?"

"If that's what you want to call it, we can only do it closer to the well, so basically the throne room. But, I don't have much to do and Sara is the expert here."

Jerry had agreed, and they left slipping into Dutchery with him. Kurt could only take one other person at a time he knew. They had found Sara, around the courtyard of the Dutchery.

"Long time no see Jerry, what's up? And Lord Kurt, welcome." Sara made a slight bow.

"Ohh I was hoping to get some advice."

"From me? What could I tell you, you've always seemed like the wiser one here."

"Well, I drank the spring waters and these tentacles."

"I see, we'll show you what you got."

Jerry showed the very little progress that he had made. Failing to do most things. They couldn't grasp any of the sticks or stones still. "I kind of feel a bit silly in front of you here, my lady."

"No, no, you look like I did, you haven't figured it out. I'm kind of jealous actually."

"Why?"

"Because of how long it took me, but how you are going to have me just tell you in a day."

"So there is a trick to it?"

"Yeah, in a way like this is what you are doing," a tentacle came from Sara's abdomen and tried to pick up a stone, and she did a little better than Jerry, but it still was slipping out. "And you can figure out where the problem is."

"Yeah exactly."

"Watch me again," a tentacle came out from the middle of her back, seemingly effortlessly went to the stone and picked it, threw it in the air and caught it."

"You see the difference?"

"No," said Jerry.

"You're too focused on the tip of the tentacle, if you want to make it act like an arm you have to put the base of the tentacle where an arm would be, you think you can easily have an arm just come out your abs. So do like I did and start from the spine, it's a little easier from closer to the shoulders as well."

Jerry tried again, and this time successfully picked up the stone, he made a wild grin and threw up the small stone, but failed to catch it. "Gues you still need to practice a little."

"Yeah, but you have to think more of where like watch," a few tentacles came out from around her waist and lifted her in the air and she walked around on them. "If I want to use them as legs, I come from the waist like my normal legs. The whip is actually fun because," a tentacle came out of her inner forearm, "you can actually hold it and just use it like a whip. That one took me the longest to figure out, it was like before I was just flaying my arms around."

Jerry got up on some of the tentacles, and looked a bit like a toddler taking his first steps. "I guess you and Robby can learn to walk together." said Kurt, he laughed at him and Sara joined.

"The rest is sort of just practice, and getting used to the sensation," said Sara. "Once you get the hang of it you can sort of mess with it more, I'm trying to figure out a good kick or something, haven't cracked that one yet." She made a side kick motion.

"Have you tried a low sweep, you can think of tripping them more than trying to kick them with a hard kick," said Kurt, "simply extending the range even a little could change a lot."

"No," Sara's eyes widened, "but yeah, maybe something quick and easy like that, it wouldn't need all that much power, that's a good idea Kurt."

Sara and Jerry continued to talk about how to use the tentacles and Jerry seemed to pick it up a little. He at least had a direction to follow, which was something. But really Kurt also came here for another reason, he couldn't avoid it forever.

"So Lady Sara," said Kurt.

"See I don't like how you said Lady there, makes me worry you about to do something bad."

"We sort of have to talk about Arthur."

"What about him?"

"And how he's a prisoner in one of those outposts."

Sara's eyes widened, "I didn't know that Kurt. When did you even capture him? Like in the middle of taking down the castle you just like and also come with me."

"Sort of. I don't think he even knows about what happened to the castle."
