Talia had started to get more in depth about the political reality of her continent. Kurt really couldn't follow it much, but it seemed the others were listening better. Having informed people around you is better than trying to remember everything thought Kurt. Who hates who and why. But since it seemed so far away to Kurt none of it seemed to affect him or his place much.
"See and that is what makes you different," said Talia, "because you technically not even bound to a continent."
"What do you mean?"
"Layla walks through our gate, but then she would move…no wait, that doesn't work doesn't it, she would be stuck on our continent," said Talia.
There it was, Kurt could feel it. The part he was missing from Layla's plan, moving more Fae Wells to their side of the gate. Even now she technically wasn't bound like Talia thought she could open a gate there and come back with Paul's gate. She is trying to figure out a way to get over there, perhaps to the Shadow clan. Really only Kurt and Layla were completely aware of what happened, as far as Kurt knew, and of course Paul, his well and all.
Harvey had apparently gotten annoyed about being annoyed and made a loud roar, and shot out a flame breath up into the air.
"It fucking breath fire?" said Talia.
"Yeah thats, sort of new, apparently they react to Fae wells, that actually a fascinating subject as well."
"Kurt, why is everything so weird here?"
"What do you mean?"
"Yes that's true, may I ask where on this side you are?" said Tom.
"Well, I don't know what you'd call it, we call it Scion Cliff, it is near one of the oceans here, but we are much like you are an outpost surrounding the wells, the most notable thing would obviously be the flying island, some of the woods move as well."
"That sort of helps, a lot of floating islands are over the ocean, so anything near it might have one or two though," said Joe.
"We are actually getting close to things I'm not supposed to talk about," said Talia. Talia was technically part of the Valentine Clan.
"I know the feeling," said Kurt.
After a bit more discussion Kurt dismissed Hank, Tom and Joe. And turned toward Talia when the exited the door.
"Sorry about that, it was really helpful."
"You're kind of cute when you try to be all Lord like you know," she smiled at him.
"Honestly, I feel like a fraud."
"They're all fraud Kurt, none of them are any special really," she was giving him this giddy smile, Kurt wasn't understanding why. "So are we doing that all day, you know this is sort of a vacation for me."
"A vacation?"
"I usually have to deal with all that stuff, usually with you I don't," said Talia, still giggling a Lott, "but it's fine."
"What are you laughing at?" said Kurt.
"I'm not telling it would ruin it.," she turned away with tight lips, but still struggling to hold in a giggle.
"Whatever, Jerry told me, my dad told, Arthur told me, trying to understand women is fools errand."
Countess Talia bursted out laughing "and you are quite a fool."
Kurt came closer, and grabbed Talia waist, "a fool am I, maybe for you."
She smiled back, and down almost in shame of enjoying the cheap pick up line. Cheap enough to work a moment later. After a few hours of talking any, a few make out sessions later.
"You know there is this engagement thing hanging over us?" said Talia, pushing Kurt's less than modest approaches.
"Yeah."
"So, I want to, I really do, but."
"I get it," said Kurt, sitting back on the sofa they were on. "Noble life."
"Yes, quite," she smiled. And had a chuckle.
Kurt put his arm around Talia, "so how does it work?"
"Really?" said Talia overexcitedly.
"The process."
"Well, I guess the step would be you come to my kingdom."
"And," said Kurt.
"It would be heavily implied you would ask, propose, then."
"Why?"
"Well, technically you're supposed to ask permission first," said Talia, "but don't worry they will, it's just a formality for you."
"And then?"
"We'll sort of up to you, you could do a big event, or something more romantic, in a more political marriage, well…"
"On that same trip?"
Talia explained that it was sometimes one thing or another. There were fancy ways. But normally you would ask the King for their permission, alone. And then when it happens, it happens.
"But Kurt," said Talia, "why now?"
"I think I figured you secret out?"
"My secret, what secret would that be?" touching her lips and arching her back.
"What you weren't telling me before?"
"Ohh and what's that?"
"I think you enjoyed it. I think you were giggling because I was treating you as my lady."
Talia started to giggle a little more, "look who's not so much a fool now. And don't be thinking you can always just bring me back to your house, today was one thing."
"Aren't you trying to bring me back to your place here?" Talia had a face for that, but she couldn't deny it, trying and succeeding at looking cute doing it, so she remained silent, "You wanna see the elf settlement?"
"Ohh that sounds fun."
They made their way to an elf village, which Talia had never seen. Humans really never met an actual elf before. The man that greeted them, as they always do. Asked what they were there for, and they tried to explain, but the man hushed both of them, seeming to know exactly what they wanted.
They made their way to a house Kurt had never visited before. The man who was greeting them knocked on the door, another elf answered, and the greeter said something quietly to the man. And soon after the man came out with a harp. And the greeter gave Kurt a big smile and walked back towards the entrance.
The man took the harp, and the music he made. It took over your soul, was it magic, or was it just the sounds of pure skill, and inspiration? In any event, going down to the elf village for this. With Talia, she was getting really close to him as the music soured though the evening air. Other elves took the audience, couples. Silently, respectfully.
The music was overwhelming. And it was all just outside this elf's house's door. No stage, everyone was just starting to sit on the ground around it.
Until the stars twinkled in the night, Kurt and Talia listened to the musician. The heavenly strokes of the strings. And a few of the audience members came up during the performance, and sang in a language they couldn't understand, but it was still so beautiful. Kurt and Talia snuggled up together to listen, only saying things once in a while, there was no awkward silence, enjoying it. Apparently even the translation spell appreciated the sound of music.
