Crowne and Doran went downstairs. When they arrived, he was very shocked to see many people lying on the floor. Some were unconscious. Some were killed.
Not only that, there were also many corpses of guard soldiers lying a bit farther away.
Crowne's eyes kept moving, trying to find out what caused this. However, he did not see anything there.
"Where is Benson?"
He walked between the piles of people on the floor. He checked them one by one, but he did not quickly find Benson's whereabouts. This made him anxious.
When he bent down, he felt dozens of footsteps moving toward the place where he was now.
"I have to find Benson's whereabouts and leave this place immediately."
He did not want to get involved any further with all of this. He turned over one of the bodies he thought was Benson, but he was wrong.
Crowne glanced in another direction. He wanted to walk there, but suddenly Doran shouted.
"Sir, that person is here!"
Crowne immediately turned. Doran was outside the house. Crowne walked toward him and looked down. Benson's body was lying on the ground.
Crowne quickly jumped down. Without thinking, he immediately carried Benson's unconscious body. Very severe wounds covered his body.
"Did you sense anyone suspicious nearby?" Crowne asked.
Doran shook his head. "No sir. It seems the person who fought Benson has already left. He is no longer here."
Crowne clicked his tongue in annoyance. He felt those footsteps getting closer. He nodded. He decided to leave immediately.
"Let us go back!" he said.
Doran nodded. They left right away. They did not want to get involved any further with everything that happened.
**
One day passed and Benson had already been treated. His body was full of wounds. There were marks of a punch on his chest. That punch damaged several of Benson's internal organs. He almost died.
If it were an ordinary person who was untrained, then that person would have died. Benson had strong bones and a strong body. That made the punch slightly restrained. Even so, it still damaged several of his internal organs.
"I already sent some of my people, but none of them found the attacker who did this to Benson. Our only hope is when he wakes up," Ruth explained.
Crowne nodded. He had also tried to search for information, but no one knew anything. Even in the residence of the Berren family it was the same. No one knew who attacked their house.
No one even saw the incident. After the explosion, everyone there fainted and some were killed.
The soldiers who tried to come there were all killed, leaving no trace at all.
"Whoever did this is very careful and detailed," Crowne said.
Ruth nodded. "It seems they have done this many times before."
"They? I did not sense more than one person there."
Ruth immediately turned. "Huh? Do you mean only one person did this?"
Crowne nodded. "During the incident, I was on the upper floor. I could sense that Benson was fighting and his opponent was only one person. I thought he would win, but it seems I was wrong."
Ruth still could not believe that Benson's opponent was only one person. If that was true, then it meant Benson's enemy was someone stronger than an S rank adventurer.
That meant that the person was extremely strong. Ruth became curious about who that figure was, but no name came to his mind.
"Do you have any guess about who did this?" Crowne asked.
"No, I do not know at all. But if we can guess what they were looking for in the Berren family house, maybe I can begin to guess who that person is," Ruth explained.
Crowne had his own suspicion. The person who defeated Benson was the same person who had almost killed him. Crowne felt that way, but he had no proof.
Crowne let out a long sigh. After that he walked toward the window and looked outside.
"I am sorry for troubling you," Crowne said.
Ruth looked at Crowne. "Troubling me? Not at all. This is our problem too. So do not think about it too much."
Crowne nodded. He looked down at the street behind the guild. There was a market. Many people were passing through. He looked at those people. For a moment Crowne remembered his order to Sylvara.
He sighed. "Do you know someone named Cornbell Silver?"
Silence. No answer at all. When Crowne turned his head, he saw Ruth's shocked expression. His face showed slight anxiety after hearing Crowne's question. He even swallowed hard. He showed a bit of fear.
"Is this Cornbell Silver very dangerous?"
Ruth nodded. "He is the cousin of the current crown prince. Some say he is very talented and has extremely wide connections. There are rumors saying that he is planning a coup against his own uncle," Ruth explained.
Crowne frowned. He did not expect Cornbell Silver to be the cousin of the current prince. This explained why Cornbell Silver could be friends with Hedley Berren. This also explained why he dared to enslave an A rank adventurer.
"What is wrong? Did you meet him in the Berren family house?"
Crowne shook his head. "No, but two of my friends were made slaves by someone named Cornbell Silver. I did not expect that person to be part of the royal family. This is not as simple as I thought."
Ruth stayed silent. He closed his eyes. "If I may give advice, it is better not to become enemies with Cornbell Silver. I know you are strong, but Cornbell Silver is not as simple as you think. He is terrifying in every way."
Crowne did not answer Ruth's warning. Of course he would take revenge for what Cornbell Silver did to Daisy and Lina, but before that he would meet Daisy and Lina first. There were many things he wanted to ask the two of them.
"I will leave tomorrow morning. It is not a problem, right?"
Ruth nodded. "Just go. I will not hold you back. Your identification card is also finished. You can continue your journey to Moonlight City. Be careful. There are many monsters and Demons there."
"Thank you." Crowne said it sincerely. He was very grateful to Ruth. "Is it really fine if I leave? What if the Berren family comes here? And also the matter of the Berren family member's death at Benson's hands is not resolved yet."
Ruth scratched his head. He was also confused about everything, but he did not want to stop Crowne either. Ruth stayed silent for a while before answering.
"I think it is fine. I will negotiate with them myself," Ruth replied.
"Is that not like entering a tiger's den?"
"Relax. I can handle it," Ruth answered.
Crowne stared at Ruth for quite a while before finally nodding and trusting his words. He hoped that Ruth could truly handle the matter. Crowne felt uneasy handing all the problems to Ruth, but he wanted to leave for Moonlight City as soon as possible.
"I am sorry, but I promise I will come back here after I finish my matters. I will repay your kindness and help you with whatever you want," Crowne said.
Ruth patted Crowne's shoulder. "Thank you for worrying, but believe me, I will be fine. Just do what you want to do."
"I should be the one thanking you."
"It does not matter who thanks whom. Just forget it and go," Ruth said.
Crowne nodded. "Thank you."
Ruth laughed hearing that. "You are funny."
**
Crowne had prepared everything he needed. He left the capital. Now he was an A rank adventurer. He could rise to S rank under certain conditions, but being an A rank adventurer was already enough for Crowne. He only needed that.
He took a horse carriage and began his journey to Moonlight City, but before that he would meet Sylvara first.
After almost one hour, he finally arrived at the place where Sylvara and the slaves were. When he arrived, Crowne was welcomed warmly by the slaves. They even knelt before him. They treated Crowne like their leader.
Crowne immediately looked at Sylvara. "What did you teach them?"
Sylvara raised both shoulders. "Nothing. I only taught them a little about how to be grateful."
Crowne narrowed his eyes, but he quickly let the matter go. He looked at the slaves there. There were very many of them. Almost one hundred slaves including Daisy and Lina. Crowne scratched his head.
He did not expect their number to be this many. "Are you sure you did not bring the wrong people? I only told you to bring the slaves in that room."
Sylvara nodded. "I did exactly as you said."
Crowne was silent. He sighed. He was confused about what to do with these slaves. There were too many of them. At first he wanted to give them capital to start a new life, but the number in front of him was almost one hundred people.
How many gold coins would he have to give? He was not sure he had that many gold coins. Crowne felt he had made a mistake.
He approached Sylvara. "In your opinion, with one hundred gold coins, can all of them live? I mean live normally again?"
Sylvara nodded. "Of course. They can."
Crowne narrowed his eyes. He felt doubtful of Sylvara. "Are you sure?"
Sylvara nodded. "Trust me," she answered again.
Crowne finally nodded. "Ah, thank goodness. If so, this is quite a relief," he said.
