Imagination System: I Can Build Anything

Chapter 189: A Planet Where No One Starved

The Saint moved among them quickly, waving his sword, then continued on his way, leaving all the revolutionaries dead behind him. The crowds of revolutionaries continued to pour in, and the Saint killed anyone who raised their rifles against the innocent. He saw a group of them slaughtering dozens of villagers at once, so he quickened his pace and began to wave his sword, knocking them down one by one. But their numbers were greater than he imagined. They began to fire at him with their rifles, so he took cover behind the houses, realizing the extent of the predicament he was in.

He feared greatly for Eloy, as he could not prevent all these vast numbers from advancing. He decided to turn back and ran quickly to the Church of the Candles, striking down anyone who stood in his way, and found a group of revolutionaries had stormed the Ecclesia. He was perturbed and entered quickly, killing them one by one. He saw that a group of monks and nuns had been killed, and he felt deep sadness and kept looking for Eloy.

He found her tied to the wall by a group of revolutionaries who had aimed their rifles at her. The Saint shouted and rushed quickly like the wind, piercing through them all at once, then slowly sheathed his sword, and they were all cut into pieces. The Saint cut Eloy's bonds, fear having taken a great toll on her, and hugged her to him, saying:

"We have to escape from here. We can't save the village. There are too many of them."

Eloy began to sob and could not speak from the effects of the shock.

The Saint carried her and fled through the back door, running away outside the village.

The Saint stood on a hill watching his village burn and the revolutionaries raising the new flag over it and cheering for their new victory. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he wept bitterly for the first time in his life. Everyone he had known all his life had been killed. The people of his village were killed. His only family, the only one he had ever known. The monks and nuns with whom he had lived for many years, sharing thousands of warm, beautiful memories, were killed. And now he had lost his position, his village, and his Ecclesia. Indeed, he had lost his entire planet to the philosophers.

But at least he had little Eloy. He held her to his chest as she slept and thanked the Lord for her survival.

In the following days, the Saint walked between villages in search of food, drink, and shelter, but whenever he wanted to enter a village, the people drove him away for fear of the revolutionaries who were slaughtering villages that sheltered monks, nuns, and clergymen. Distress and hunger took hold of him, and he saw Eloy losing weight, her face pale, and her clothes dirty. She was walking beside him as they walked through the vast green plains and said to him:

"No doubt homelessness has been my destiny since I was born."

The Saint looked at her and laughed, saying:

"But you are not the only homeless one. I am homeless with you too. Soon we will find a beautiful, warm home."

Eloy nodded her head, although she did not believe him after seeing the villagers driving them away and refusing to give them food and drink.

The Saint entered the nearest village he found and sat Eloy on a wooden bench. He began to knock on the doors of the village one by one, and whenever someone saw him wearing the monk's cloak, they closed the door in his face out of fear. He would enter the villages after midnight according to the time of the planet of the Franks so that no spy would see him and betray his location. He kept knocking on door after door, but everyone turned him away disappointed, dragging the tails of disappointment.

Eloy sat watching him sadly as he knocked on doors and people closed them in his face, remembering how people used to shower him with gifts, fruits, and delicious food before. A good man like him did not deserve all this ingratitude. Eloy sat pressing her hungry stomach and felt sick.

The Saint knocked on another door in despair, and a man he knew opened it for him and said:

"You are Saint Jean Dark. What brought you here? I thought you were killed! You have to leave or they will kill you."

The Saint begged him, his face contorted with pain:

"I have a hungry girl with me who hasn't eaten for two days and won't last another day. Give me anything for her to eat. I want nothing for myself."

The man looked around, watching the houses, then said:

"If someone informs on me, I will be killed. I can't give you food. Forgive me."

The Saint's eyes filled with tears at his inability to feed this poor girl. The man felt pity for him and sighed, saying:

"I will give you bread, but do not return to me again."

The Saint nodded his head in joy. The man entered his house, and the Saint smelled all kinds of delicious fresh food, and his stomach rumbled. Then the man came out with a fresh purple loaf of bread and tucked it into the Saint's clothes without anyone seeing him. The Saint thanked him profusely and left quickly to Eloy.

He approached Eloy and took out the hot loaf, saying:

"I got delicious food, my daughter. Eat it so you can regain your strength."

Eloy took the loaf of bread with joy and began to eat it ravenously. When she finished half of it, she noticed that the Saint was not eating, so she said:

"Where is your loaf of bread?"

The Saint put his hand on the back of his head and smiled, saying:

"I couldn't stand the hunger, so I ate it on my way to you."

He was lying, and hunger was gnawing at his body. But he could endure. The girl said sadly:

"I wish the earth was full of fruits, fresh water, and delicious food. You wouldn't have been subjected to all this humiliation for a loaf of bread, Father."

The Saint ran his hand over his beard, saying:

"I heard of something like this in the universe. But it is on a distant planet called Atlantis. They say that on this planet no one goes hungry because of the abundance of trees, fruits, and food. The credit for this goes to that crystal that performs miracles. They say that this planet was barren with no food or water – according to the Galactic Encyclopedia – then the Astra settled it and with them this crystal, and suddenly rivers burst forth in it, gardens spread in it, and trees surrounded it from all sides. But I heard that the Zurix empires are fighting to reach this planet and obtain this crystal, but it is ruled by a strong, strict man named Gaia. And they say that he eliminated all the fleets that tried to approach the planet."
