Lord Of Puppets

Chapter 101 – Kingdom of Garmfon VS Golem Dungeon – Part 5.

"You still haven't found the golems weakness?" – asked the batsman knight.

"Didn't you heard me before!? I've never seen or heard about golems before!" – replied blacksmith Igor.

"Then at least you have found SOMETHING worth noting!?" – asked annoyed beastman knight.

"…"

"…"

"Hello?" – said the annoyed beastman knight.

"LOOK!" – shouted the blacksmith.

"All I can tell is this."

"This stuff, is well made."

"Not some amateur work or anything."

"Each and every piece of those things are well made."

"Some parts are simple, while some are complicated… But overall? Everything is fucking good."

"Honestly, I still don't even believe that the dungeon has produced that kind of equipment of this quality…."

"…"

"Look."

"If I'm all honest."

"Get some guy that knows stuff about golems."

"I just can't do it."

"I can keep looking, but don't be hopeful at all."

"Tch." – the knight left the blacksmith tent.

"Anything?" – asked the beastman knight B who was waiting outside.

"No. He still says the same thing." – said beastman knight A.

"He says more time or bring some guy that knows some shit about golems…. Fucking useless bastard only gave us worthless information."

"Oh, here we go again with your hate boner for Igor." – said beastman knight B as the two knights started.

"Shut it! He ain't the bastard the bastard that fucking smashed your entire face with a hammer while being drunk!" – said beastman knight A.

"And we told you that you shouldn't fucking go to his smith when he is drinking. Do you really think you are the first person he smacked with a hammer while being drunk?" – said beastman knight B.

"BUT HE…. You know what? Screw it." – said the beastman knight A as he given up in anger.

"What about you?"

"Well…. Forest has been…. Quiet, to say the least." – said the beastman knight B.

"General…. Well, he said that we are no longer allowed to sent anybody into the forest, just yet that is."

"And instead he told us to keep a watch from afar."

"Saying that there is a chance that the golems maybe far tighter that before or some shit."

"…"

"Okay…. So…. We are dealing with something far more dangerous than we had thought…." – said the beastman knight A.

"We already had some loses."

"And now the creatures that apparently don't have a mind of their own are doing something strategic…. Or something…. I think."

"…"

"Why won't we just brute force it?"

"I mean, honest question."

"We have a shit ton of people here."

"We can beat them."

"Yea, but at the same time we would lose like what? 20%? 30% of people that we got with us?" – replied the beastman knight B.

*Sigh*

"Look. Just fallow orders and fallow the guy."

"Gustav is a good guy and smart."

"Just give up and let him think for us."

"Hey! I was told that this would be an easy fucking job! I'm not some…. Oh, now what?" – said the beastman knight A as he noticed one of the soldiers running at full speed towards the two knights.

"What is it?"

"M-movement! A movement has been spotted in the forest!" – said the soldier.

"All scouts that are observing the forest are spotting movements everywhere!"

"…"

"Welp…. I guess this day will be a giant pain in the ass." – said the beastman knight B before moments later the knight's duo alongside the scout quickly ran to the general tent and informed him about the situation.

"…. And you are telling me that this is happening in large area?" – asked the general with annoyed expression.

"Y-yes sir." – replied the scout.

"…"

"Raise the alarm." – said the general as he stood up.

"Alarm the entire camp."

"?"

"Wait, isn't this a bit too much? We- "

"Raise. The. Fucking. Alarm." – said the general as he walked up to the beastman knight B, before he could finish speaking.

"Considering how fucked up the situation is…. I wouldn't be surprised if the worst-case scenario were to happened."

General Gustav Chariot couldn't not come up with any answers to the countless questions he was having regarding the dungeon…. And this made him paranoid.

He knew that something may happened that the army would not expect, and so he instantly ordered the alarm to be raised, ordering all of the soldiers gathered in the camp to prepare for the combat.

And that was the best decision he could came up with.

The army of soldiers prepared themselves as the source of the movement revealed itself.

The culprits…. Golem.

Obvious answer.

But not obvious at the same time.

Why?

Bocuse the amount of the golems that was leaving the forest was not some small number.

It was an entire army.

"!?"

"What the fuck!?" – the soldiers panicked and stared in confusion as an army of golems emerged out of the forest.

"Hey, hey, hey! Nobody told us that it will be a fucking war!?"

"Shit. How many are there?"

"…. Em…. Is it just me, or are they marching toward us?!"

"…"

"Fuck. I knew it." – said the beastman general.

(I knew this was a possibility, based on what the scout had told us…. But the worst-case scenario is really happening.)

(The golems are longer waiting.)

(They are coming for us!)

(…)

(Honestly, now that we are in an open space, we have advantage over these fuckers.)

(Mages can now blast them far more easier….)

(But…?)

As the soldiers stared at the emerging army of golems…. They saw something.

Something that stood out amongst the trees as something raised up.

A giant stepped out of the forest.

The creature resembled a giant version of the knight golems, but with bit more brutish appearance, as countless spike sprouted out from their bodies, equipped with two large and long blade arms, which also had a pair of small hands right underneath them.

"…"

"What the fuck is that?" – said the general as he stared at the giant knight golem.

(Is this the "giant" that the scouts told us about?!)

(Is he by any chance the leader of these golems?)

"…"

"…"

"We are retreating." – said the general.

"Sound the alarm."

"We are retreating!"

"!?"

"W-wait, why?!" – asked confused beastman knight A.

"Forgive me for speaking out, but we are fighting finally in the open!" – said the beastman knight B.

"We can bombard these fuckers with mages!"

"AND I SAY RETREAT!" – shouted the general at his two wolf knights.

"NOW DO IT!"

(Fuck me. This is really the worst possible situation!) – thought the beastman knight.

(We can take them on, but again, loses on our side will be too high.)

(Not only that, what is this giant?!)

(It looks like a giant knight, but with more brutish armor.)

(…)

(We can't take a risk.)

And so, the forces of the kingdom, without even daring to fight had decided to retreat. The soldiers and servants began packing everything they could, before then leaving behind their own camp.

They ran away from the army of monsters, even when the enemy had finally decided to leave their home turf.

The army of the kingdom ran away with the tail between their legs as the golems gave chase for quite sometime…. Before finally the golems stopped in tracks and headed back to the forest.

"…"

"Welp…. Shit." – said the beastman general as he rode his steed while he saw the golems stopping in tracks and going back.

(This isn't good…. This isn't good one bit!)

(Just how far we had marched away from our camp!?)

"Fuck me…. Situation got far more serious." – said the general as he held his head.

The army of the golems retreated and headed back to the forest…. But as they did, they made a short stop at the camp where the kingdom soldiers were staying behind.

Anything that was left, anything valuable was looted, including the left over remains of the golems.

Afterwords? The entire army of golems had peaceful returned back to the forest and disappearing from the sight.

"…"

"It is looted…. Sir." – said the beastman knight A as the general and his elite knights returned back to the camp and began inspecting the destroyed remains.

"The entire camp has been completed looted of anything that was left behind."

"We checked around sir. There doesn't seem to be even a single golem in sight. By the looks of things, every single one of these fuckers had gone back to their creepy ass forest." – said the beastman knight B

"…"

"Fuck." – said the general.

(Everything is gone!) – thought the beastman general as he stared at the place where crates filled with golem parts were located.

(All the golem parts we had gathered are gone…. Not only that, but everything that we couldn't pack in time was stolen?!)

(These golems looted us!?)

"…"

"Set up a new camp, but this time nowhere near this location." – said beastman general.

"And get me something to write on as well as messenger."

"I need to inform the king about the current situation."

[Sometime later: Dungeon]

"???"

(What is going on?) – thought Thauma who inspecting the loot the golems had obtained from looting the soldiers.

(There are no bodies?)

(But the golems did brought back the hound golems remains?)

"…"

(The enemy fought and exterminated the hound golem army, but then they had retreated, ran away from the golem activity range that I've expanded?)

(Or did the golems…. No…. No. They did found them.)

(This isn't random trash.)

(Those are crates of weapons.)

(I think enemy base, the "camp" or "outpost" that they had set up outside was looted by my golems?)

(This seems to be a logical conclusion….)

(But why?)

(…)

(The current enemies not being part of main force.)

(The current enemies being far too weak.)

(The current enemies were just here to gather information.)

(The current enemies were only here to test the strength of the dungeon.)

(Possibly [1]….. Highly likely scenario…. But all the other options have a very high chance of being accurate as well.)

"…"

(This will be definitely different kind of battle, compare to the ones that I've seen before…. If some my speculation proves to me correct….)

"…"

(But this is fine.)

(The data from this war will help me develop even further.)

(If the enemy ran away, it doesn't matter.)

(Since this only gives me more time to produce more monsters that will fight for me.)
