MMORPG: Rebirth of the Legendary TimeKeeper

Chapter 92: [Guardian]

[Guardian Level 9]

A dark-skinned, white-haired elf wearing a black hoodie, sat there quietly as he observed me from top to bottom. Carrying a silver bow on his back, with his ashen gray eyes focused on me, he seemed to be in a state of deep thinking right now.

If I remember correctly, this guy was the bodyguard guy who always followed Trisha around. Hmmm… I don't remember him being there on the day I killed all the Vincents, though. I recalled moving closer to them, looking curiously at that guy before turning to Trisha.

She waved at me lightly with a smile before looking at that guy and speaking.

"Boss, this is G. In the real world, he is a bodyguard assigned to me. I kind of wanted to ditch him and enjoy myself, but since the stream was everywhere, he followed me here as well."

In the past few days, Trisha and the others started calling me Boss half the time. They also used a teacher and Ezekiel, but most stuck to this one.

Should you be saying that in front of that guy? I thought as I gazed at [Guardian]. Though it didn't seem like he really cared about it.

"Well, Boss. Despite the situation, he is quite capable, I must say. Since I doubt he is going to leave me alone even in the game, think you can let him join the group?" She asked curiously.

While Trisha did make it seem like she doesn't care about him, I could see that she saw him in a bright light and was looking out for him.

"His class is Archer, and the race of Dark-Elf," she added, before waiting for the response.

I saw those pink puppy eyes before turning to the disinterested gaze of the dark-elf. His lack of interest might come off as rude for many, but I guess he only joined the game to watch over Trish and nothing else.

"I would like to see his skills first," I said, making Trisha bloom a bit before turning to [Guardian] and then speaking with slight excitement,

"G! Show him your best!"

"Sigh… yes, milady," G stood up as he walked closer to me, waiting for me to speak.

A man of few words? Hmmm. Not bad. I smiled as I then turned to look at the path outside the settlement. Recalling the monsters found there, I searched for the best place to test his skills.

Ah! That should be fine. I thought as I found something close to what I was aiming for.

"Come with me, both of you," I said as I began walking outside the settlement, until we reached an open area. It was about a kilometer from the settlement, where a few flying monsters had made their nest.

Scouting the area from a distance, about 100 meters away from here, I found a giant yellow-beaked red vulture sitting on a tree.

"You see that bird sitting on that tree branch?" I asked as I focused on that bird even more. I needed to make sure there weren't any other birds in that line of vision.

"What bird?" Trisha asked while G focused on that bird from a distance before questioning,

"Yellow beak, red-feathers?"

I nodded before speaking," shoot that bird down."

Turning to the dark-elf, he observed that bird for a few more seconds before putting his ring finger in his mouth for a few seconds. Then taking it out in the air, he felt the movements of wind for a few seconds.

He then took out a bow, different from the silver one that he was carrying on his back. This one was a dark longbow, almost 2/3rd the size of his body, with three metallic strings instead of one.

Effortlessly holding it with one hand, he positioned it straight in the air before taking out an arrow from his inventory and placing it in the bow, as he pulled it back with all his strength.

Looking at the angle. Hmmm… not bad. It's near perfect. I smiled as I calculated the angle, the power and the trajectory of that arrow, analyzing the result before it even took place.

-Zing!

As I was thinking, the arrow left the bow at an impressive speed, reaching the bird, and then hitting its body, killing it with a single strike.

"That's neat," I said, a bit amazed. He didn't use any enchantments of [Skills], just pure skills of his own. All I knew about him was that he was the bodyguard, but with this much skill there was a great chance he was an excellent marksman as well.

I guess you need at least that much skill to be the bodyguard of Trisha Vincent. I thought before turning to him and asking,

"How many arrows can you shoot at once? Can you use any enhancements?"

He pondered for a few seconds before turning to Trisha. Then, getting a green signal from her, he continued,

"3 without skills. 5 with skills. I can use Fire and Dark Enchantments."

I nodded before asking a few more questions, at which, answered in a brief but precise manner, allowing me to gauge him completely. Once the assessment was done,

"He can join," I said, as I didn't have any problems with his skills. Though there were still areas of improvement, he was better than most archers that I would meet in Arcadia Online.

Later, I will also need to do a background check to see exactly who he is loyal to. I added in my mind before deciding to return to the settlement and log out. There was nothing more for me to do here for the time being.

Trisha nodded in satisfaction before then asking,

"Hey, Boss, what do you think would be the best subclass for me?"

"[War Dancer]," I answered with a reflex as I recalled the subclass she had in my last life. It was almost a perfect match for her battle style.

"War dancer?" She asked curiously. Her eyes looked at me, waiting for me to explain more about this subclass.

"Three benefits. Provides as much agility to you as the weapons you have, both inventory and in your possession. Has a special dance sequence skill that increases dodge by 30% as long as you keep moving. Lastly, have an active skill that can increase your total attack power based on the number of players against you for 30 minutes," I spoke as I recalled the bits of details.

Trisha's eyes glistened as she heard about the benefits. She looked at me in amazement as I then continued explaining.

"Two cons. When not in a battle, your total power would be halved. Your dodge rate decreased by 20% when not in battle, making you susceptible to assassination attacks."

Hearing which, Trisha paused her smile. Then, as it slowly vanished, replaced a deep, thoughtful look on her face.

Ignoring her with her own thoughts, I turned to the dark-elf and pondered before asking,

"Have you chosen your Subclass?"

"Aiming towards [Enchanter]," he answered, to which I nodded before pondering and speaking," if you can. Look for a subclass named [WordCrafter]. It should be closer to what you are looking for than [Enchanter]."

[Enchanter] was a subclass that aimed at enchanting items and weapons. It had a huge variety over the basic enchantments and a few special bonus skills that were mostly associated with the primary class.

[WordCrafter] on the other hand, was a Rare, harder to obtain Subclass, that allowed you to imbue direct enchantments and runes to your weapons for a short duration. Much less time than Enchantments that lasted for hours to days sometimes.

Unlike the [Enchanter] class, the enchantments in this one were of short duration, generally a few seconds to a minute. Though it allowed multiple rapid enchantments at once just by saying the word, with the only downside being the mana cost. One more benefit of [WordCrafter] was that it could also add runes and minor blessings the same way, though the mana costs were higher.

The reason I recommended this class to him was that he would rarely need an enchantment lasting days since he seemed to be targeting it to use on his arrows rather than the bow. It seemed like a good subclass for him to have.

"I will look into it," he answered.

Turning back to Trisha, who had mostly done thinking, I asked about the other members of our party.

She told me that Blaze, Raven and Link were going to be absent for two more real-time days. They were taking a break from the game to finish their own things. Meanwhile, she and G would be leveling up here, catching up with the rest of the team.

Since I had already explained to Trisha where and how to hunt the monsters, I simply nodded, wished them well before deciding to log out.

[Logging out of the game]

Getting out, I stretched a bit before looking at the time.

8:00 AM, huh? All right. Let's get to the next task at hand. I thought as I picked up the Black Card that Alexandra had given me before changing into a more presentable dress. Then, picking up my phone as I rechecked the lists of tasks that I had to do based on the information that I had collected, I closed down the folder.

"All right. Time to meet Ciana Grace, then"

I mumbled as I walked out of the apartment, with my smile slowly turning serious as I finally took the first step towards fulfilling the task of my regression.
