The King of Bay Area

Chapter 488: Expanding the Lead

"No open space, still no open space. At a critical moment, just before being sacked, Lu Ke lightly tosses the football to Marcus Lynch, letting Lynch take the ball and run."

"The Cardinals' defensive line blitzed on both wings, leaving a gap in the middle. Lynch crosses the offensive and defensive lines without any effort. It's a huge open space! Wow, this open space is about seven or eight yards wide. Now, four receivers have completely tied up six secondary defenders, and the middle of the field is a total no-man's-land."

"Lynch is running with the ball, moving forward quickly. The secondary defenders are half a step slow and are starting to form a circle. Lynch chooses to break through on the right side. Adrian Wilson and A.J. Jefferson are holding their ground on that side. Logan Newman actively runs towards Wilson, disrupting the star safety's defensive route. It's a one-on-one between Lynch and Jefferson!"

"Jefferson! Jefferson! Jefferson tries to make a tackle. Oh, my God, what a terrible tackle! He completely misses his center of gravity and his timing. Lynch just made a small move and easily got away from Jefferson's tackle. He continues to move forward. Oh, a repeat of the same scene!"

"20 yards, 15 yards, 10 yards... Wilson, Adrian Wilson, has broken free from Logan Newman and is trying to get back to make a tackle. He's trying, trying his best, but he's still half a step too slow. After accelerating a second time, Lynch avoids Wilson's certain tackle and runs away! Wilson can only stumble behind and eat dust!"

"In a class of his own, truly in a class of his own! Lynch! Lynch! Marcus Lynch! Ladies and gentlemen, Lynch has entered the end zone again and scored another touchdown! This is his second rushing touchdown of the game! Beautiful! The way he avoided two tackles with his footwork and momentum was just so beautiful! He scores a touchdown without a doubt!"

"My God, oh, my God, Marcus Lynch is absolutely on fire today, in a complete state of explosion!"

"This touchdown is almost identical to the previous one. It's Marcus Lynch again, breaking through the middle, advancing on the right, and running about 30 yards with the ball. He enters the end zone and scores a touchdown! The San Francisco 49ers have almost completely replicated the same touchdown. They didn't waste Patrick Willis's interception and turned it directly into a touchdown, further widening the score!"

"Well done, 49ers!"

On the field, the commentators' eyes were always on the football. They witnessed Marcus's second rushing touchdown of the game. In a desperate situation, he once again broke through and scored a touchdown for his team.

Similarly, the fans' eyes were also always on the football. The moment the touchdown was completed, the University of Phoenix Stadium became a sea of noise. The home fans were cursing loudly, expressing their strong dissatisfaction. All kinds of profanity could be heard, and their red faces with bulging veins were truly intimidating. The visiting fans, on the other hand, were cheering loudly, celebrating their team's second touchdown in their own way. The cheers and support were full of life in the midst of the chaos.

In this highly anticipated revenge game, the San Francisco 49ers' offense was in excellent form, and they were slowly but surely destroying the Arizona Cardinals' defense. The two teams were only in a standoff during the first offensive series. Afterward, the scales of the game's momentum slowly began to tip. What was expected to be a strong head-to-head match full of fireworks was now the complete opposite of the last game, as if the two teams had become unrecognizable.

"The Cardinals' two cornerbacks are a serious liability. A.J. Jefferson has missed four tackles in this game, and they were all critical tackles. Two of them directly led to touchdowns. This kind of performance..."

At this moment, Kirk was analyzing the reasons for the Cardinals' defense's disadvantage, but he stopped mid-sentence as Teddy was constantly pointing to the situation on the field and adding, "There's an accident on the field. It seems a player is down and injured."

Both commentators' eyes were on the field, and they saw Darnell Dockett on the ground and a perfectly fine Lu Ke standing next to him. This scene was... off. Because the power comparison between a quarterback and a defensive lineman is not even close. The quarterback is always the weaker one. The most obvious comparison is the one between Cam Newton and J.J. Watt at the rookie training camp. Even a player like Newton is no match for the strong body of a defensive lineman.

Normally, the one on the ground should be the quarterback, and the one standing should be the defensive lineman. But now, the positions were reversed, just like the game's momentum. This was truly unexpected. What was going on?

The screen started playing the replay, not of Marcus's rushing touchdown, but of Lu Ke and Dockett's collision. Watching Dockett's fierce charging, even the commentators winced. But the next moment, they saw Lu Ke stand on his toes, with his muscles tensed. He was standing still, but he was calm and not panicked at all. When Dockett got close, Lu Ke made a push and a step back. These two simple movements seemed effortless, and then... and then Dockett flew away?

Teddy and Kirk exchanged a look and were speechless for a moment. They were both confused. What on earth just happened?

After watching the replay again, Kirk finally found his voice. "Uh... Lu Ke used a move to transfer the force to avoid Dockett's tackle. Just from the replay, it seems there's nothing wrong with the movements of both players. We can't see any signs. Now, the reason for Dockett's injury is still unclear. We need to wait for the team doctor's examination, but..."

Kirk still didn't understand what happened. Then Teddy's voice cut in. "Kirk, don't you think this looks like... Chinese kung fu?"

Teddy and Kirk exchanged another glance and both chuckled. Kirk opened his mouth, but he still had nothing to say. "Teddy, are you serious?"

But then, when they watched the replay again, everything seemed to be explained rationally. Teddy smiled smugly. "Let's not forget that he's a Chinese-American quarterback from a mysterious Eastern country. I don't know, I really don't know."

Teddy raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "Maybe we can ask this question after the game. But for now, let's pray for Dockett, and hope his injury is not too serious."

Dockett was taken off the field. The team sent a stretcher to carry him off, and he was taken away by a cart. Lying on the stretcher, Dockett was furious, cursing continuously, venting his anger and frustration. But deep down, what was even more terrifying was that he didn't know how everything had happened. He only felt a powerful inertia, and then gravity pulled him to the ground. Every bone in his body started to groan in pain. He didn't even see Lu Ke's move. Then he heard the sound of his bones colliding. "Crack!" He wasn't sure what the sound was, so clear yet so dull. The pain then surged like a tide, instantly consuming and drowning him. He could feel the pain in every part of his body.

But what was even more brutal than the pain was the humiliation.

"How did all this happen?" Dockett was completely bewildered.

This turn of events was truly unexpected. In this game, Dockett had just returned to the starting lineup after recovering from an injury. But before the first half was even over, he was injured again and taken off the field, and in a... strange way. The atmosphere between the two teams began to become a bit strange. On the other side of the field, the Cardinals' head coach, Ken Whisenhunt, was furious and venting his anger at the referees. He believed that Lu Ke had fouled, absolutely fouled. Dockett's injury was a foregone conclusion, but at the very least, this touchdown should not count because of the foul. It had to be called off.

But Whisenhunt's request could not change the referee's call. It was a touchdown.

"Bambi?" After the touchdown was confirmed, all the offensive players looked up and quickly gathered around Lu Ke. Mike Iupati asked with concern. Then they realized that Lu Ke was fine, completely fine. The sense of absurdity emerged, and smiles blossomed on their faces. "What happened? What on earth happened?"

Lu Ke shrugged and said with a smile, "Self-defense." In fact, he was also a little confused. Everything had happened too fast in the moment. It was all just a physical instinct, and then things turned out this way. Without much more conversation, Lu Ke waved to his teammates to leave the field. "Let's go. Leave the field to our teammates."

Behind them, Whisenhunt's angry roar could be heard. "It was a foul! It was a foul! Jesus-fucking-Christ! He's a fraud! He's a fraud!"

Lu Ke and his teammates didn't stop and walked quickly toward the 49ers' side of the field. The special teams players who were coming onto the field yelled at Lu Ke, "Bambi! Well done!" "Bambi! You're awesome!" The cheers from all around made the atmosphere on the visiting team's side more joyous.

After leaving the end zone, Marcus returned to the sideline and saw his teammates surrounding Lu Ke, high-fiving him. But wasn't he the one who scored the touchdown just now? What was going on? Marcus stood there, confused. "Hey, guys? The hero of the touchdown is back! Is no one going to give me a high-five?"

Logan Newman noticed Marcus's actions but deliberately pretended not to see him. He passed by Marcus and yelled exaggeratedly, "Bambi! My man!" Marcus stood there, his raised right hand wavering in the wind, his puppy-dog eyes filled with pitiful innocence.
