HELP! These Girls Wants To Kill Me

Chapter 89: 89

[Trials Of The Sword]

[Only a righteous heart could carry the sword. Only a righteous heart could deliver justice. Only a righteous heart could carry the burden of the world.]

[Carry out acts of justice in the three scenarios to gain rewards.]

[Failure in all three trials will result in death.]

[Those not of the sword shall have no place in the sanctity of this sacred land.]

Looking at the golden scroll flying in front of her with those words, Cang Yue couldn't even react for a long time.

It took a long time for her to register what had just happened. And by the time she came back to her senses, she couldn't help but curse at the top of her lungs. How could she not realise that she had been played?

From the words written on the scroll, it was clear that it was a righteous trial. Although she hadn't heard of something like this before, it didn't stop her from realising what was going on. Especially the last two sentences.

She knew herself. She was anything but righteous. So to her, this trial was akin to walking into fiery pits of hell.

"Damn it." Cursing at the old hag for setting her up, she wanted to turn around and leave this place. But before she could even turn around, the scroll in front of her lit up as her sight was filled with endless golden radiance and before she knew it, Cang Yue fell unconscious.

-------------

"Ugh... Where is this place?" Opening her eyes, Cang Yue looked around in confusion. At the moment, she was inside a small luxurious carriage. She instinctively opened the window to let in some fresh air. But the moment she opened the window, she was hit in the face by a gust of chilly wind that was enough to freeze a person's soul.

"Hiss." Gritting her teeth, she immediately closed the window before tightening the warm clothes around her. It was only at this moment that her previously jumbled memories became somewhat clear.

Even though she had a feeling that something was not right and a few of her memories seemed to be missing, she didn't pay any attention to it. She had a much bigger task at hand.

"How long till we reach there?" She called out to the person driving the carriage.

"Head Constable." It was a young woman's voice that replied back. "You are awake?"

"Mmm..." Cang Yue stretched her voluptuous body with a yawn before wearing a thick leather jacket and opening the door to the carriage.

She then skillfully jumped out of the moving carriage towards the driver's seat before landing gracefully beside the young woman, who was barely sixteen.

Cang Yue first took a look around, only to see that the dense forest was getting sparse. And in the distance, she could see the outline of a small town.

"Let's go through the details once again, shall we?" The young woman who was barely eighteen, sitting beside her, spoke with great excitement.

"Sure." Cang Yue didn't reject the idea. Her mind was in a mess, and there were a lot of things that didn't make sense to her. She only knew that she was the current Head Constable of the fifth division of the Righteous Division. Other than that, the rest of her memories seemed to be in a mess. Judging by her current condition, it was going to take her a lot of time to reorganise them, and time was something that she was desperately lacking.

"A few days ago, the Righteous Division received the report of one of its new recruits dying in the village of Solaris under suspicious conditions. The few guards at the scene linked the crime to one of the evil spirits, but there isn't any concrete proof."

"We are here to unmask the truth and comprehend the guilty."

"Umm..." Cang Yue just nodded in response as her gaze was stuck on the village in front of her.

"Head Constable..." The young woman sitting beside Cang Yue couldn't help but speak with some hesitation. "Have you lost your memories again?"

Cang Yue wasn't surprised by her question. She had a physique that allowed her to practice at a heaven-defying rate, but the drawback was that her memories would become a mess every thirty days.

"Mmm...." Cang Yue just nodded in response.

It didn't take the two of them to finally reach the village, and the moment their carriage entered the village, they were greeted by a group of people who were just waiting for their arrival.

"Senior." A fat middle-aged woman hurriedly stepped forward before giving Cang Yue a deep bow. "Welcome to our humble village. I am the village chief."

"Hmm." Cang Yue just nodded in response as her eyes wandered around, silently observing the village.

The village wasn't anything special. Other than a handful of houses, which were made with solid rocks, the rest were constructed out of wood. The roads underneath them weren't in good condition either.

Just a single glance, and it was one of the poor villages.

Cang Yue wasn't surprised by its current state. There were hundreds of small villages like these in the Yan territory.

She just wanted to finish her job and get out of this place. Because of her incomplete memories, she still felt uncomfortable.

"Where is her house?" Cang Yue's eyes kept looking around, hoping to find the house of the newbie who was murdered here.

"This..." The village chief hesitated for a brief moment, "Senior, you must be tired after travelling for so long. How about you take some rest first? We have prepared a small feast for you."

"...." Cang Yue didn't speak a word, but her cold gaze made the village chief tremble in fright. In the end, she directly pointed at the small dilapidated house at the very corner of the village.

"That's Sun'er's house. She died there."

Following her direction, Cang Yue immediately rushed towards the distant house, leaving behind he figure of the middle-aged woman whose back was soaked with cold sweat.

"What are we looking for?" The young woman tilted her head in confusion while watching Cang Yue turn the house upside down.

"Traces." Cang Yue just gave a simple answer.

"If it were an evil spirit, it would have left the black goo." Cang Yue kept on looking around, but other than some dust, she didn't find anything else.

"Can you go through the guards' statements once again?" Cang Yue asked while looking around with a frown.

"One week ago, the village head and a few other villagers heard the sound of fighting and screaming from Sun Lin's house."

"Because of the low growls, they feared it was an Evil spirit, so they stayed in their houses."

"It wasn't until the morning of the next day that they discovered Sun Lin's corpse."

"After receiving the report of the villagers, the guards arrived at the house. There, they found the dried corpse of Sun Lin."

"Upon further observation, they found that her blood had been drained dry."

Speaking till here, the young woman stopped and quietly looked at Cang Yue, waiting for her further instructions.

"Say..." Cang Yue narrowed her eyes while looking around. "Did they mention if the fighting was inside the house or outside the house?"

The young woman thought for a moment before giving an answer.

"Inside the house."

Cang Yue just shook her head with a disappointed chuckle before pointing her finger towards the room.

"Does this place look like it was in the midst of a fight?"

The young woman just followed her gaze as she looked at the neatly arranged house that didn't have anything missing. Other than the dust, everything there was intact and properly arranged. Even the floors underneath them didn't have any cracks or signs of fighting.

"Forget it. I have wasted enough time already." Cang Yue was in no mood to play the games. "Group up all those villagers. These bastards must be behind this."

After Cang Yue's order, the entire population of less than sixty was already standing at the centre of the village. Other than a few people whose face was filled with nervousness, the rest of them were just confused. They couldn't understand why the head constable would group them all up like this.

Once they were all standing in the middle of the village, Cang Yue finally stepped out of the house before appearing in front of them.

She didn't say a word, but quietly gazed across the group of people.

"You." Pointing at the nearest woman in her thirties, she pointed towards the other side. "Go and stand there."

The woman didn't dare to defy her. She just nodded obediently before rushing there.

"You." Less than ten seconds later, Cang Yue pointed at the young boy who was barely eight. "Stand there."

In the next five minutes, she removed almost fifty people from the group, leaving behind a handful of people who were just standing there nervously.

Cang Yue just let out a smile before speaking in a cold voice.

"I will give you ten breaths of time. After that... I will take you all to the Righteous Division."

"Senior, what do you mean by that?" The Village head, who was standing amongst those ten people, took a step forward with a face full of confusion. Even though she tried to appear calm and composed, the occasional trembling of her legs was enough to display her nervousness.

"Ten..."

Cang Yue just started to count.

"Senior, there must be a misunderstanding."

"Nine..."

"Senior, let's think about it again. There must be something that you missed."

"Eight..."

"I WANT TO TALK TO YOUR SUPERIOR. THIS IS UNFAIR."

"Seven..."

"...."

"...."

"Three..."

It was at this moment that one of the middle-aged men suddenly jumped towards Cang Yue.

Cang Yue didn't just glance at him with a leisurely expression.

The Village Chief and the few people around her wanted to stop the man, but before they could move, the man kneeled in front of Cang Yue before speaking in a trembling voice.

"IT WAS THE VILLAGE CHIEF."

"She and her friends killed Sun Lin. I don't know the reason, but I saw it with my own eyes."

"HOW AUDACIOUS"

"YOU LIAR SCUM."

Before the man could even finish his sentence, the village chief and the few people behind her immediately burst out in anger. They wanted to rush forward to tear this bastard into pieces, but before they could even take a step forward, Cang Yue just waved her hand and all of them fell down on their knees.

"It's like this..." The middle-aged man hurriedly explained to Cang Yue about how he saw the Village Chief and others overpowering Sun Lin before dragging her into their house. And after a few hours, they threw her shrivelled corpse back into her house.

The people kneeling there wanted to speak out, but they couldn't even move a muscle.

"Keep an eye on them."

Cang Yue just ordered the woman beside her before heading to the Village Chief's house.

Kicking open the door, she stepped in as her eyes darted around. In just a few seconds, she turned the entire house upside down.

It wasn't until she arrived in the kitchen that she found a small hidden compartment.

"Interesting." Grabbing it, Cang Yue just pried it open with force.

What came into her view was a stone tablet whose age was unknown. Even though this was her first time seeing the text, she could somehow recognise it.

[BLOOD DEVOURING ART]

Looking at the name, she just frowned for a moment before reading further.

At first, she didn't pay any attention, but the more she read, the more shocked she became.

By the time she finished reading, her entire body was trembling with excitement.

It was a heaven-defying technique. She didn't know who created it or how this small village came across it, but she knew it was a treasure whose value couldn't be imagined.

According to this practice, one just needed to absorb the blood of other humans to purify themselves. By using others' blood, one could increase their talent, comprehension, understanding and even cultivation realm.

And the most unbelievable thing about it... There were no drawbacks.

By practising this technique, she could step into the Soul Tempering realm in less than a year.

Just thinking about it made her blood boil.

Cang Yue clenched the stone tablet in her hand tightly as her eyes turned red. Unknowningly, a smile crept upon her face as a wild aura leaked from her body.

She just walked out of the house towards the centre of the village.

Once she reached there, she stood beside the young woman who accompanied her throughout the journey.

Cang Yue just smiled before raising her hand and twisting her head.

Her sudden action caught everyone by surprise. Especially the woman who didn't know what happened, even when she died.

Cang Yue just raised her hand as she began to practise the Blood Devouring Art.

In that instant, the woman's corpse shrivelled at a rapid pace before turning into a mummy.

Cang Yue, on the other hand, could feel the increase in her strength as well as her realm.

She licked her lips before looking at the crowd of terrified people in front of her, before plunging towards them.

-----------------

"Ugh..." Inside the trials, Cang Yue opened her eyes only to feel a slight headache.

"What... what's going on?" It took her a moment to come back to her senses. But before she could think further, an emotionless voice sounded in her mind.

[Devious Heart Nature... Excessive Slaughter.]

[Failed the trial of Greed.]

In the next instant, a small translucent sword suddenly appeared in front of Cang Yue before siddnely plunging into her heart.

Cang Yue didn't even have time to react when the sword pierced her chest, then her heart, before coming out from the other side.
