The Rise Of The No. 1 Hunter

Chapter 140: CHIBA ARRIVAL

The lady returned a few minutes later, carrying the company car key and a small stack of documents.

"Sorry, I almost forgot," she said, handing them to Raito. "There are still some documents here that need to be signed. Once you finish, give them back to me."

Raito took the papers slowly, scanning each page with meticulous attention. He signed where necessary, his calm demeanor unshaken. The lady watched quietly, nodding as she checked everything.

"All done," she finally said. "Now… where is the location of the house?"

"Chiba," Raito replied.

"Chiba?" she said, raising an eyebrow. "Isn't that a bit far?"

"Not at all," Raito said lightly. "Just about an hour's drive from Tokyo. It's close enough."

"Ah… Chiba. Well, that's fine then. No problem," she said with a small smile. "I think we should head out."

"Follow me, then," Raito said, holding the completed paperwork firmly. He opened the passenger side of the car and slid in. The lady took the driver's seat, and they drove off in silence. Neither spoke, the quiet only broken by the hum of the engine.

Eventually, they arrived in Chiba and pulled up in front of the house. Raito stepped out of the car first, followed by the lady.

"This is your new house, sir," she said, gesturing toward the sleek, modern building. "Wow… it's beautiful. Can I go inside?"

"There's no need to ask," Raito replied smoothly. "It's already yours. You signed, and you paid in full."

She smiled softly. "Would you like me to join you in inspecting the house?"

"No, I'll manage on my own," Raito said calmly.

"Alright. Then here," she said, handing him her business card. "This is my personal number. If you need anything or want advice about the house, don't hesitate to call."

Raito took the card slowly, giving her a faint nod.

"Okay," he said quietly.

She blushed slightly, then waved as she got back into the car and drove away. Raito exhaled, his expression unreadable. The tension in the car earlier seemed almost comical now.

He walked to the front door and inserted the key. The door opened smoothly.

Inside, the house was empty. The living room was vast, open, and silent—no furniture, no decorations, nothing.

Raito walked through the house, noting the four spacious rooms.

"Four rooms… that's more than enough," he muttered to himself. "One for training… one for guests, like my sister or father. Five million yen isn't nearly enough for them… I'll send more soon."

He paused in the middle of the living room, his eyes scanning every corner of the house. A faint smile appeared on his lips, almost imperceptible but there nonetheless.

"Two years ago… I could never have imagined this," he thought. "Buying a house like this… paying it in cash… it's actually incredible."

Finally, I've bought a house.

Now… I have to tell my sister and father about it—and send them more money. Five million yen was far too little for them to quit their jobs, and it wouldn't even come close to covering everything they needed.

Raito exhaled softly. It's not enough…

He pulled out his phone and unlocked it with precise movements.

He transferred 50 million yen to his father, Mr. Rikue, and 40 million yen to his sister, Aiko.

He slipped his phone back into his pocket. Ah… I haven't even brought in my luggage yet, he thought.

Raito went outside and collected his luggage. Step by step, he carried it into the house. The living room remained empty, vast, and silent.

His phone buzzed suddenly.

Buzz… buzz… buzz…

He glanced at it. Dad?

It seemed his father had already seen the transfer. Raito stared at the screen for a moment, then picked it up anyway.

"Hello, son," Mr. Rikue said.

"Father. Afternoon," Raito replied calmly.

"Well, son… did you really send that amount? Fifty million yen?" his father asked, voice trembling slightly.

"Yes, Dad," Raito said.

"How… how is that possible?" Mr. Rikue continued. "That's a huge amount of money. What are you doing to make that much? Last time I called, you said you were the only hunter, but fifty million… no ordinary hunter earns that. How?"

"Well, Father," Raito said evenly, "I'm doing well as a hunter. I've earned a lot. In fact… I just bought a house. So if you ever want to visit, you can come anytime."

There was a pause on the line, and then Raito heard a quiet sniffle. His father's voice broke slightly.

"I… I'm actually really proud of you," Mr. Rikue said, blinking back tears. "I still don't know what to say… or what to believe. It's like a dream. I saw the money in my account… the bank even called, asking questions because it was so large. But it's real… my son… you really bought a house. And you've always wanted to be a hunter… I wonder how powerful you are now."

"I'm sure your mother is watching,"softly. "She would be very proud,"Thank you, son," Mr. Rikue said. "I really appreciate it. I don't even need to keep working now. I can focus fully on my vocation. And don't worry… when I'm done, I'll come see you. I want to see how much you've grown."

"Yes, Father," Raito replied. A single drop of emotion slid from his eye, quickly wiped away.

"Hey, Dad… I'll call you later," he said again before ending the call.

Raito exhaled quietly. That's the luck of the world… he thought. He really appreciated it. And he's happy.

Raito mused, slipping his phone back into his pocket.

He stepped outside, locking the door behind him.

"Ah… what the hell," he muttered, looking at the empty house. "Where can I even buy furniture? This place is completely bare. I should have asked her to stay… she gave me her business card, but she's probably already driven back to Tokyo. I can't bother her just for furniture. I'll have to find it myself."

Raito started walking down the street, scanning the neighborhood.
