They had been friends ever since that bike ride the other day, yet he had never asked for her number.
Most likely because they lived so close and more or less attended the same class.
There was not much need, but to think he would be leaving without considering that was just being uncaring.
But was he being cold, or just…
She could see him now; he was… fidgety.
Trying to hide the pink blush on his face with the hoodie, but it didn't escape her eyes, and she felt her sadness fade, replaced by evilness.
"Waaaah, now you want my number after abandoning me, huh? Hmph, say please…" she said evilly, but all Everlearn did was immediately turn his back.
"Okay, fine!"
She said, and he paused, his face replaced by a mocking grin, which she felt like punching in.
She typed in her number on his device before returning it.
"Wipe your tears," he said before turning his back, and her face turned red.
"You son of a donkey!" she said, but when she looked back up, he had mysteriously disappeared into the crowd of students.
"Hmph!" She hmphed before turning around, returning to the dorm building.
_______
Everlearn dialed the number and saved it as 'Annoying' before continuing on his way.
He noticed a couple of changes on his device.
His name, which was previously fourth on the challenge, is no longer listed.
When he browsed the Nvnet, he could already see the uproar it was causing among the Newcomers.
Many speculated whether there had been an error or if he was dead, while some offered proof that they had just seen him minutes ago.
'I wonder how much of an uproar it will cause if they learn I'm now a second year, ' he mused before switching off the device, keeping it in his pocket.
The 2nd year's position in the academy was like a god to mortals.
And it wasn't just that they were powerful.
The rules also favored them more.
It was an obvious bias that sometimes forced Everlearn into difficult situations, simply because they were second-year students.
It was hard and unfair being a Newcomer.
But now with his promotion, all of that was about to change.
When he reached the front gate of the 2nd year, he felt a force field wrapping around him, and the gate blinked a green light, allowing him in like the rest.
The sight of it made many 2nd years pause in disbelief, rubbing their eyes.
First-year students sometimes visited the second-year area, though it was against the rules. Some of them had the instructor's permission and were therefore allowed to do so.
But still, the gates would flash red, showing they weren't allowed, yet he, an obvious Newcomer, flashed green!?
"What the? Is that you, Everlearn? Don't tell me?"
"Yeah, you guessed it right!" Everlearn said to a red-haired dude whose jaw was on the ground, waving the purple card right before his nose.
"I'm now your mate, Dorian! Better pray you don't catch me in a bad mood."
He said, using the card to push the dude's large forehead back while he continued forward.
The bastard Dorian was one of the 2nd years who tried riding on him based on his authority.
They were enemies until eternity.
And speaking of enemies, he's got a lot!
Just a minute after entering the second year, jaws dropped as everyone rushed to their devices to confirm the unbelievable.
The murmurs quickly turned to an uproar when the news was announced all over the Academy.
[{1st year, Everlearn Snowfall, previously 4th on the Challenge Ranking, has been promoted to a 2nd Year!}]
_____
He arrived before the 2nd-year dorm building, and devil knows of unfairness.
It wasn't just twice, but thrice bigger than the Newcomers' dorm building, looking like some Immortal God's abode.
Everlearn followed the pull of his card, which guided him to an elevator. He took two elevators before he arrived at his corridor.
There was a line of doors, and he wasn't sure if it was merely a coincidence, but just like in the Newcomer Dorm building, his dorm room was located at the end of the last line.
He was about to reach it when the door before it was suddenly swung open, missing his nose by an inch.
"Hey, watch it!"
He shouted but paused in shock when he looked at the one who came out.
"The fuck!?" the dude shouted.
He was some fat, burly-ass dude with green hair and eyes, wearing a singlet that couldn't cover his huge belly, exposing his navel.
"It's you!?"
Everlearn was struck dumb as he looked at the dude, but in the next moment, all hell broke loose.
His hand reached out, grabbing at his neck, but he was too slow.
The dude already had both of his massive palms reaching for his face, and they brawled at each other, quickly rolling on the ground.
"Imma get rid of you today, you bastard!"
"Big talk from a fat piece of shit like you," Everlearn replied, managing to shove the dude beneath him.
He punched twice at his face, but the dude was as fast as lightning, managing to duck his head before he smashed a kick into Everlearn's chest, sending him flying into the air and almost flying down the railings.
Eloris jumped to his feet and ran to the elevator.
"Come here!" Everlearn said as he hurriedly chased after his fat ass, grabbing his legs and pulling him down.
"You bastard! You won't be surviving a day in here!"
"At least you won't be surviving in the next hour!" he replied, jumping over the dude as he slammed his fist atop his face.
It connected with a sickening crunch, and Everlearn was about to throw another one when,
BOOOOOOM!
The door slammed into his face, causing him to tumble backward like a ball.
At the same time, it slammed into Eloris, sending him flying after Everlearn, crushing him to the ground midway with his weight before crashing into the railings.
"Tch," Everlearn clicked his tongue, rubbing his nose and back.
He looked ahead to the third door in the corridor, which had already been opened, and the two of them just happened to be brawling right in front of it, causing them to be sent flying the moment it swung open.
But when he looked at the one who stepped out, Everlearn's face paled slightly.
'Oh, hell no!'
"What the!? Everrat!?"
