The first class in the morning was Weapon Class, and Everlearn had awoken early for it.
When he stepped through the dojo doors, only about twelve students had arrived earlier than he had.
He didn't immediately go to his seat; instead, he turned to the walls where the weapons were.
Grabbing a spear, he rolled it in his hands, and it was as familiar as ever.
But this time, Everlearn thought differently.
All he had ever used was a spear, and that was why he used it.
But there were many other weapons around.
Why not give them a try and see if there was one he liked?
And so, he began, from swinging a heavy club to throwing knives.
As the students came in, they watched him move around the wall, feeling the weapon in his hands before returning it and picking up another.
Most of them could sense what he was up to, and some joined in, picking up weapons to get a feel for them before putting them down.
The last training had been brutal, with each of them beaten to the ground, though they all knew Everlearn had it worse.
If the scene was not to repeat itself, then it was better they came prepared.
After trying about thirty weapons in a row, Everlearn found something he loved.
A gauntlet.
It was made of a metallic blue alloy, covering his fingers up to his elbows.
When Everlearn folded his fists, sharp, pointed edges appeared from his knuckles, gleaming sharper than a blade.
THROOOM!
THROOOM!
The air shook as he punched forward twice, and when Everlearn brought his gaze back to the gauntlet, his eyes shone with light.
║Close Combat!?║
The system panel flashed in surprise.
'It's perfect,'
Everlearn responded, and he took them off before turning back to his seat, placing them before him.
At exactly 7:00, thirty minutes after the class ought to start, Everlearn raised his head, turning forward, and there he was.
How he had arrived there no one knew, but he was there, his presence weighing down on them.
"Pick Your Weapon!"
His orders were the same as the last time.
Many scurried to pick up their weapons, but Everlearn didn't follow them.
Picking up the gauntlets already laid out before him, he wore them on his hands before rising.
CRACK!
CRACK!
The sound of bones cracking resounded from his neck and shoulders, curling and unfurling his gauntleted fists.
When the students got back to their positions after picking up their weapons,
SHRAAAANG!
The sound of chains unfurling echoed as the weapon instructor let them drop from his wide sleeves.
In his other hand, the familiar two-edged dagger appeared, and then,
CLAAANG!
Both pieces were forced together, forming a chained dagger that the man spun heavily in his hands.
"Defend yourself!"
He said, and in the next moment,
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The students turned in shock as they felt a sudden heavy shaking.
They turned their heads to the middle and found the ground shattered into an open crater.
"What the!?"
Turning their heads up—
VROOOOOOOM!
The air flapped with insane speed as a figure burst through the air.
SHRRAAANG!
The sound of the chains getting flung rang out before lashing out heavily, and in the next moment,
BAAAAAAAAANG!
A powerful wave rippled through the entire dojo, sending the air flapping backward with speed as a gauntleted fist clashed heavily with a dagger's edge.
BOOOOOOM!
Everlearn was flung backward, somersaulting in the air with twisted speed before he smashed back into the opposite wall, hanging there.
The instructor took two heavy steps backward, shaking the entire dojo as his dagger balanced in his hands.
"Hmmm."
A silent growl left his lips as he turned to look at Everlearn, but all he found was the footprint on the wall.
BOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOM!
He was so fast that all the Newcomers saw was a blur and the foot image on the walls.
And in the next moment,
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Another terrifying shockwave rippled outward as they turned to the instructor, only to see Everlearn falling from the sky.
Both his fists slammed down on the instructor, who raised his dagger just in time to block the blows.
SHRIIIING!
The dagger edge scraped harshly against the gauntlet, red sparks bursting into the sky, and in the next moment,
VROOOOOOM!
The chain shot back toward Everlearn's open chest.
VROOOOOOM!
It tore past, but it didn't reach him.
Everlearn dodged into himself at the last moment, slamming into the ground, the dojo floor beneath his feet crumbling and cracking as he burst out in the next moment, appearing before the instructor from beneath.
CLAAANG!
BAAAAAAAAANG!
Another metallic shock boomed out as the chained dagger and fist clashed together, amidst flying red sparks from friction.
"I swear I won't lose this time," Everlearn said, veins bulging over his arm as he pushed against the dagger.
"You've indeed grown stronger!"
The weapon instructor's voice resounded in Everlearn's head, and in the next moment, he watched as the chain rippled like a snake, slamming from the side of his ribs.
Backing off, his hands crossed over his ribs as the chain landed heavily.
BOOOOM!
He was flung away, slamming into the wall, but the silence only lingered for a moment before a hand gripped the wall, and Everlearn pulled himself out.
His hands stretched to the side, and then,
CRACK!
The students watched in disbelief as Everlearn twisted his dislocated shoulder back into place, then wiggled his fingers.
When he confirmed it was all right, he turned to them, asking,
"Are you all here to fight or watch?"
It was like a wake-up call to the remaining students, who gripped their weapons hard before racing toward the instructor.
BAAANG!
BAAANG!
BAAANG!
For the next few minutes, there was nothing but the sound of hundreds of Newcomers exchanging moves with the single weapon instructor.
Yet—
BAAAAANG!
BOOOOOOM!
Students were constantly being sent flying into the air with every passing second.
Even against a hundred students, and still minimizing his power to their level, the man was unshakable.
Like a phantom, Everlearn flashed through the group of students, fading in and out, and when he watched the instructor block an axe attack from above, leaving his back wide open.
BOOOOOOOM!
Everlearn burst forward in a straight line.
Jerking both arms backward, the gauntlet's sharp edges rushed outward in that instant.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
Shockwaves undulated forth only to explode apart as the sharpened gauntlet fist slammed toward the instructor's unprotected back.
'It's over.'
