Reborn As The Barbarian God

Chapter 62: The bid

"Twenty million!"

This time, it was the Winged People that suddenly drove the price up. They looked at others with smug expressions as all the banners glared at them. Why drive things from ten million to twenty million? Wasn't that too much?

"Thirty million!" Brakthar called suddenly.

The whole tent quieted instantly as they all turned to the barbarian. Now, it was the Winged People's turn to glare at them. Even Karathra couldn't hold herself back and she glared at him.

"What are you doing? Do we have that much?"

Brakthar grimaced and shrugged. "We only have about forty million anyway. I think we've lost this round, Karathra. The chief is going to be disappointed."

"We did not know the others were going to bid so aggressively. Galthor would understand, and besides, we aren't done here. We might still..."

"Forty-five million!" The Xyrrh.

Karathra sighed. "Alright, we might be done here, but there are still things I haven't done."

Brakthar gave her a doubtful look. "At least we now have a blacksmith."

The three remaining banners began to bid aggressively, and the price rose into the hundreds of millions.

"Six hundred and seventy million!" The Kobolds shouted, sitting up and glaring at everyone as if daring them to increase.

And of course, they did.

"Seven hundred million!" Casper shouted and smiled.

And so they continued. Sometimes they would increase it higher, and sometimes they would only add a little. Either way, the price was getting higher, and no one was ready to back down.

Suddenly, the Kobolds shouted, "One billion!"

This time, even the banners paused. Although they all wanted to frustrate the others and stop them from getting the enchanter, it was something they already had, and it would be useless to get another one. Especially when they could source from their backers.

But how far were they really willing to frustrate the others?

The Xyrrh grunted and suddenly waved their hands. "Enough, we are not interested anymore. You two can have it!"

The Winged People sharply looked at the Kobolds. "One billion and one hundred million!"

"One billion and one hundred and one million!"

Casper's eyes darkened. "One billion and one hundred and fifty million!"

"One billion and one hundred and fifty-one million!"

Casper opened his mouth, and yet again, one of his masters leaned closer to whisper something to him that made him clench his teeth. Between the two races—the Winged People and the Kobolds—the Kobolds were absolutely the richest.

The Kobolds, almost like the Xyrrh, had a central authority that took care of them all. They pooled their wealth together instead of relying on individuals like most other races. And it seemed they wouldn't hold back in spending this time around.

Whereas the Winged People were bidding directly from their Jaded Lord's wealth. Although he was rich, he wouldn't look kindly on them if they spent large amounts on an enchanter that might not even be worth it.

The Winged People did not say anything after the Kobolds' final bid.

"One billion and one hundred and fifty-one million! Going? One! One billion and one hundred and fifty-one million! Going? Two! One billion and one hundred and fifty-one million! Going? Three!"

"Sold! Sold to the Kobolds! Congratulations on your sale!"

The Kobolds looked at the merchant with their canine faces and nodded, only giving the Winged People a spare look.

Just when things were about to settle, Karathra suddenly laughed out loud and stood up. "I really want that enchanter. Kobolds! Do you want to go on a duel with me for who gets it?"

The Kobolds looked at each other, and then one of them looked at Karathra. "No offense, em... Captain Karathra, but no master here would fight you if they were in their right senses."

Karathra frowned. "Why? It's not like I'm stronger than you guys. You can even pair up!"

The Kobolds snorted. "Karathra, this was the same thing you said back then when the masters were dueling, and you nearly bashed my skull in!"

Karathra blinked.

When the barbarian had just joined the Revolutionary Base, Karathra was already a master, and the other banners sought to put the barbarians in their place by defeating their masters. But it backfired in a horrible way because of her.

She defeated all the masters that dueled her with overwhelming power—the Winged People, the Kobolds, and the Xyrrh. As long as they were masters, they stood no chance and were defeated.

That was when it became known that Karathra was the strongest master around.

She grinned. "What about the Winged People? Do you want to give it a try? Your name is Caslar, right? You've been trying to pick on us since we sat down. Do you want to fight me?"

Casper flinched. "It's Casper!"

Karathra chuckled. "I know!"

Casper gritted his teeth and his face twitched, but even with all of this, he still kept his composure. "We will not fight you."

The Xyrrh spoke before she could even say anything. "We're not fighting you either. We're not the ones with the enchanter."

Karathra snorted and sat down. "So be it."

Brakthar raised his brows. "That was your grand plan?"

She shrugged. "My fists have solved more problems than any talking could. But they've become smarter now. A shame. Galthor should have come here personally to bully everyone."

Brakthar cleared his throat. "Well, we do own a blacksmith. He'll at least look after our weapons and build new ones for us. We should be able to get ore in Abyssal Land."

Karathra did not say anything. All those things would be handled by the others. She'd done her part.

And with all of the auction taken care of, the people began to leave. Only those with goods remained behind.

Brakthar turned to Karathra. "Wait here for me, I'll be back."

"Where are you going?"

Brakthar touched the shell that was around his neck like a chain. "I need to get the money for the blacksmith. I don't think there's any water around here. Besides, I don't want others to see..."
