Reborn As The Barbarian God

Chapter 69: A call to meeting

"What do the Winged people want?" Galthor asked immediately.

"I have no idea as well, Chief. They won't say anything. What should we do?" the warrior asked anxiously. "They asked to see you personally!"

Galthor frowned. What could the Winged people want? Did they know that Lady Pelica was here and had come for something related to that?

"Go and tell them that I'll be with them shortly." He paused. "Tell the masters not to do anything impatiently unless they have to."

The warrior bowed and hurried away. Galthor looked at Brakthar and Karathra. "Let's go. I don't know what they want, but I doubt it would be anything good."

The three of them slowly left the room and climbed down the stairs. Outside, the situation was tense as four masters faced off with three Winged people masters in a staring competition. It was almost as if a slight movement from any of them would send either side flying at each other.

The appearance of Galthor killed the tension instantly.

Commander Casper was the leader of the team of three, and he led the bow in greeting to the chief, his movement stiff and hard. Since the day Galthor killed Commander Oryn, Casper had carried the fear of the barbarian in his mind like the aftermath of a lightning strike.

"Chief Galthor Stronghide, I bring the word of the Jaded Lord Serion Caelus to your ears."

Galthor looked at Casper without expression and waved his hand. "Go on."

"The Jaded Lord bids you a good day and says that I should inform you of a meeting of Banner Lords that will happen in five days' time."

Galthor raised his brows. "There's something like that? Is this news also from the others?"

Casper hesitated. "My lord, the Jaded Lord acts as the unofficial leader of the Revolutionary Base here..."

He flinched and hurriedly added when he saw Galthor's expression, "...in the sense of just arranging meetings and organizing the others to set the rules of things!"

It did make sense. The Revolutionary Base still needed a guiding hand to keep everyone organized. "I see. Then will this meeting be happening in the Jaded Lord's place?"

"No. It is the Xyrrh who will host it."

Galthor raised his brows at that. "Alright. You can tell your lord that I will be there."

Commander Casper bowed even lower than before, and under the steely gaze of the chief, he hurried away.

Galthor snorted as he watched him almost run, his wings ruffling with agitation. "A meeting, eh? I guess it's time."

He did not have a good impression of the meeting that was called at all. He had a suspicion that something was up. He would have to wait five days to confirm his suspicions, though.

"What are your orders, Chief?" Brakthar asked.

"My orders will be arranged fully after the meeting. For now, get Han started on creating weapons for us."

Brakthar coughed. "Chief, we need to build a forge, get the raw materials, and then ask him what he would need... I don't think anything can be done immediately."

Galthor paused. "Right. There's that too. Just go and ask him. Besides, we need to test his skills."

Things were busy for the next five days.

Brakthar talked with Han, and the man told him not to worry about a forge, as he had a mysterious one that he carried with him and could start forging anytime there was ore and materials.

Brakthar and the other masters did not have knowledge about the precious minerals that were needed, and that was why they needed a blacksmith and an enchanter in the first place.

And now that they had one, they could add gathering precious minerals to the list of what they hunted in the Abyssal Land.

But since the meeting was called, Galthor didn't allow the masters to go on any hunts. Instead, he shifted his priority inward to training the warriors.

Karathra, as the commander, intensified the training, and the other masters also joined in.

But one thing Galthor found curious was that Lady Pelica didn't involve herself at all in the affairs of the village. In fact, apart from the time when she first came, she hadn't left her room at all. She didn't even allow them to feed her, claiming that she was self-sufficient.

And it seemed she was.

Han, on the other hand, was behaving himself as one would expect a slave to. He didn't overstep his boundaries and would only do what they told him to do.

Since the day he was brought, Galthor had already ordered that the enchanted metal collar on him should be taken off. Considering who his master was, he didn't think the collar would work when they most needed it.

And just like that, five days passed, and it was now time for the meeting.

Galthor headed over with Karathra and Brakthar to the Xyrrh territory.

And just like before, they entered the silent village and walked over to the sand castle. But unlike before, they weren't led to the throne room. Instead, one of the Xyrrh guards led them to another room, the one for the meeting.

"Oh? The others aren't here?" Galthor asked.

Just like everywhere else the Xyrrh controlled, the place was bare of anything. The walls and ground were ash grey, and the table and chairs for the meeting were the only furniture there.

In the very center of the room, there was a long table with four chairs facing each other. None was placed at the head of the table.

And on one of them, Lord Doveling sat. He looked at Galthor with unblinking eyes, his antennae twitching toward him. "Yes. They're not here yet. Welcome, Lord Galthor."

Galthor nodded his head. "Lord Doveling, thank you for having me."

As Galthor looked for his seat, his two masters went to the corner of the room where chairs were waiting for them.

"It's nothing, it's nothing! I'm actually glad that you came much earlier than the others," Lord Doveling said.
