Reborn As The Barbarian God

Chapter 82: Mud and bones

Lord Doveling brutally and forcefully cut away from the connection he made with Drakira. His figure trembled and his antenna began twitching madly.

"This... this!"

His left eye began to drip with black liquid, all the while it was still shut tight. "Something terrible has happened. The barbarians. I must warn the others, but before that..."

Black smoke covered his entire body, warping around him and cleansing him. His hands began to weave symbols in the air above him, writing diagrams that made the air around him tremble with black smoke.

Only after doing all of this did he breathe a sigh. "What did the Stronghide get themselves into? That entity, I am not even sure what it is, but it is invasive and dangerous. Very dangerous."

He shuddered. "And now my eye is shut closed for now, but it is only a small price to pay."

He raised his head up and his right eye flashed with another light, showing a diagram. The same diagram was instantly copied and represented in real life above him, a dark structure that hummed with power.

With a wave of his hand, an object fell from it, a dark mirror. He took it and injected his power into it, powering it up to a sudden yellow glow.

He whispered some words and then waited.

Before long the surface of the mirror misted over and showed the face of the Jaded Lord. Another section showed Alpha Carter. And they both did not look happy or impressed to see Lord Doveling.

Only when the Jaded Lord noticed his eye did his expression flicker. "What happened?"

"I tried to check up on the Stronghide, but something went wrong. It seems as if an entity was holding them hostage. I cannot say what it is though, maybe it is a relic that became aware or a legacy. I do not know, but they are in a difficult situation."

The two people in the mirror showed serious expressions. Alpha Carter grunted. "This is not good, the masters are important. We should not have let that Galthor take them."

"This is not the time to talk about the past, only on what next we are going to do," Lord Doveling said in a grim voice.

Jaded Lord Serion sighed. "Right now, we are too deep into the Abyssal land to return and help them. We can only wait, and kill our Fiendish monsters before we can convene toward them."

Alpha Carter nodded. "We cannot turn our back to the Fiendish monsters now that we already stirred the place up. Let us hope they can hold till we get to them."

Jaded Lord Serion's expression flickered. "Maybe we will still see some of them salvage. We can add the villagers too, it will only stall us to the core, not stop the exploration."

Lord Doveling's antenna twitched. "Very well. We will speak after we kill the Fiendish monsters then. And it would be really troublesome if I have to deal with all of this alone."

"Do not overestimate yourself, Doveling. I am the strongest person here at the Revolutionary base...." Jaded Lord Serion's voice began to fade and then the two images on the mirror disappeared.

Lord Doveling watched his own reflection in the mirror, saw the black liquid flowing from his shut left eye, and sighed. "What a troublesome situation."

There was a moment when the bones and mud creatures' attention went away from Galthor and focused on Drakira. That split moment made Galthor freeze as his subconsciousness lashed up at his mind.

Without even knowing why, his consciousness sank into his mind and subconsciousness, and he found himself in his dark world again, lit up by red stars.

The dark sea below was still calm and the clouds above were raging as always.

But something was wrong with some of his red stars. They now had a mixture of brown as if they had been smeared by mud. And for some reason, when Galthor saw the mud, he felt a wave of anger.

Since he entered his subconsciousness, he had already become aware of what was happening on the outside. Something had taken over his group all right, and it was leading them toward their doom.

"What arrogance," Galthor whispered from his mountain, his eyes flashing. "A mere relic trying to take over a god?"

There are different types of relics and they all do not behave the same. Some are simply like objects, and no matter the power they possess, they would still be like an object.

But some are even like animals that can hunt, just like the one hunting them. Some are parasitic, while some need certain rituals to use. Yet all this does not correlate to the amount of power they have.

"Because you are awakened and aware, you think you can hunt barbarians?" Galthor watched with faint amusement as he watched the relic lead them.

Each of the bones and mud creatures carried a will of the relic. In fact, they are the relic. And right then, they were leading them toward where the anchor of the relic was.

"But I must say, you even took over my mind before I even knew what was happening."

Galthor outside was just as he was. His attention was split between his mind and the outside, so accurately that they seemed overlapped.

The relic led them through a safe route, and Galthor began to subtly study it. Anytime they passed where there were bones, one of them would stop and add it to the one already in its body.

It was a strange thing. The relic tried to imitate humans, but all it did was create a resemblance through a mud man and then stick bones to them randomly.

It would be perfect for a horror character movie back on Earth. But Galthor had seen more horrific things in his short time in the Divine world.

Before long, they reached where the relic was taking them.

It was a place with a giant heap of mud and bones. It was as if all the bones in the Abyssal land had been dumped into that particular place.
