A few minutes of pointless fighting with awakened powers went down.. it was pointless because the results had already been decided — there was no way I was gonna let this small fry take the reward while I sat and watched.
None of them were my equal and that was the simple truth, this struggle was merely futile and it was fun to watch them try for a while, but then I started to get tired of seeing them shoot and miss with every attack they sent my way.
Right when I had had enough and was about to blast everyone with my Spacial Manipulation ability, a single clap caught the attention of everyone and subsequently Professor Fiona appeared from nowhere, her voice echoing through the entire chamber.
"Congratulations to all of you for your efforts in today's trial!" She announced, causing everyone to freeze mid attack.
"The results have already been decided... Please prep yourself for a meeting in the arena..."
Before the sun began to set, all the students that participated in the semesters exam that day gathered in the arena. The Chancellor Hans Wagner, stood before the gathered students, ready to announce the exam results.
The atmosphere was quite charged with excitement and anticipation.
"Congratulations to all students for your exceptional efforts during the semester exams... Your hard work has brought you this far and it is time to recognize the top performers," he declared, his voice resonating across the arena.
My heart raced as I listened intently, hoping my name would be among the top five.
"Without further ado, here are the top five students of this semester's exam!" The Chancellor announced.
"In fifth place came Cedric Caesar Second Year of Class G VI..."
"In fourth place came Zeddack Quickman Second Year of Class Q IV..."
"In third place came Kareeck First year of Class D II..."
"In second place came Levi first year of Class D II..."
"In first place came Shawn Ferrell of Class X II..."
'Tch!'
Of everyone they decided to put above me was someone who had a competitive rivalry with me. I knew I outperformed the entire catalog easily, but I still came second not by default but by design.
I was sure the school nerfed my points so it wouldn't look like a landslide victory or favouritism.
Nevertheless, I felt a surge of pride at securing a spot in the top two positions.
The crowd erupted into applause and I couldn't help but glance at Zed, who wore a smug smile as received praises from people sitting around him.
Despite Zeds awakening hiccup, he still had the zeal to push through and secure a top five finish. That says alot about his character and resolve.
As the Chancellor continued, he detailed the rewards for the top students.
"Shawn Ferrell, for your victory, you will receive the Emblem of the academy RAA: Cindralock, a symbol of your prowess and dedication," he announced, presenting the shinning, shimmering medallion to Shawn as she made her way to the stage.
I knew I was next in line so I started walking to the stage slowly before my name was even called.
"Levi, as our second place student, you will receive the Celestial Essence pendant, this magical artifact extremely enhances your Arcane energy regeneration."
Chancellor Hans Wagner said, placing the pendant around my neck.
My heart swelled with gratitude, recognizing the pendants potential to improve my abilities in upcoming challenges. I realized that I was right, I was second place by design because my item was of higher value than what Shawn Ferrell received, but I'm sure she wouldn't care so far as she was given that number one title, nothing matters to her— typical noble blood.
The presentation continued as Kareeck stepped forward to collect his reward which was the armour of fortitude, designed to enhance defensive capabilities of the user and it was suitable for his Hunter Class.
Zeddack Quickman was presented with the Ring of Wisdom, granting him a unique advantage in acquiring new skills. Hopefully he would make good use to it to break away from his hiccup with his awakened ability.
After the ceremony concluded, I took a moment to reflect on my journey so far.
Despite the mixed feelings regarding Shawn's victory, I had proven myself yet again worthy among the elite of this academy.
I could see how far I had come and the support from my friends and family reassured me that I was in the right path.
"Hey Levi!!" Zed called, snapping me from my thoughts. "You did great out there, number two is an amazing spot to secure"
"Yeah it is not a bad position," I replied, forcing a smile.
"You should be proud, that pendant will help you tremendously and we all know you have the potential to go even further."
"Thanks Zed. I really appreciate that," I said, feeling a warmth in my friend.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the arena in shades of gold and red, I felt a renewed sense of determination. Although the opponents I faced were nothing close to my level, I knew that this was just the beginning.
The Sister School Tournament looked ahead, promising greater challenges and the opportunity to prove myself on a world wide larger stage.
The prize ceremony had wrapped up and although I hadn't claimed the top spot, my placement in the top five had given me a strong sense of accomplishment.
However, there was no time for complacency, the next chapter of my journey awaited me and I had an important matter to attend to.
The semester had been grueling, filled with tests of skill, endurance and strategy that had pushed me to my limits. Now, I could take a breath, even if it was just for a moment, before delving back into my quest to uncover the truth about my parents and that mysterious dungeon gate called The Hoseki.
As I walked through the halls of the academy, my mind drifted to the upcoming tasks.
It wasn't just about getting stronger or unlocking new abilities, I had a purpose driving me forward. Each level I gained, each skill I unlocked, brought me a step closer to my ultimate goal.
