Shadow Dragon: The Fallen Angel Is My Teacher

Chapter 121: Keth’Runn Entering The Personal World

"How are you going to do that?" Mira asked, frowning.

"I'll enter her personal world and bring her back."

She stared at me, doubtful.

"I know you can see our personal worlds and everything we can see.

"Calliope told me you were defending them from the Cursed Spirit they were seeing. I won't ask how you can do that.

"But if you enter Selene's personal world, how can you return here?

"If returning was possible, Selene would've done it already," Mira said.

"She can't return because her connection with the intersection of dimensions broke when she entered her personal world," I said, taking out a black katana from my inventory rune.

Mira's eyes followed the blade.

"And you have a way to stay connected to the intersection of dimensions even after entering Selene's personal world?"

Her questions came fast, one after another.

I could tell she wasn't being impatient. She was just worried about me.

She didn't want someone else getting hurt to save her sister.

That was why I answered her patiently.

"I can do that with this," I said, showing her the katana.

It was pitch black, with a red thread tied around its hilt.

This sword was Keth'Runn. A Cursed Item I got from the Cursed Spirit Elicoras Arena.

I had bonded with it previously and I could use its ability.

That ability was needed here.

I untied the red thread and looked at Mira.

"Give me your hand."

She hesitated for a moment, then held it out.

I tied one end of the thread around her pinky finger.

Then, using telekinesis, I tied the other end to mine.

"What is this?" she asked.

"It's a thread that'll keep us connected. It's the special ability of my Cursed Item."

"Thread that'll keep us connected?" she repeated, confused.

"Yes. I'll enter her personal world, and you'll stay here in the intersection of personal worlds. The thread will keep us linked and allow me to return here with Selene."

"There are a lot of risks in this plan," she said.

I shrugged lightly. "I know."

Then I activated Hollow Eyes.

The colors around me faded away.

The world turned white.

Black lines began to appear, outlining everything.

The lines shaped into overlapping personal worlds.

I could see ten different ones at once.

The sight made my head spin.

My eyes burned from the strain. I had used them too much. It was like suddenly exercising a lot when you were just starting.

It caused pain, and if I continued it could let to permanent damage.

I had to move quickly.

I looked around, searching for a world that had shops and roads.

Both Lars and Selene's worlds matched that description.

Since I already knew which one belonged to Lars, the other one had to be Selene's.

I walked toward the faint outline of a road in her world.

The road was blocked in all other personal worlds, which meant stepping onto it would lead me straight into Selene's personal world.

'Would I still be able to see the other worlds once I enter hers?' I wondered.

Right now, I could see them all because I was standing in the intersection of personal worlds (dimensions).

But once I stepped into her world, I would be exiting the intersection of personal worlds.

If I became unable to see the intersections after entering her personal world, things could go very wrong.

Mira was right. This was a gamble.

I stopped in front of the road, thinking for a moment.

Then I turned to Mira.

"Close your eyes. And don't look at the thread," I said.

She nodded. "Okay."

She must have understood why.

If I entered Selene's world, the thread she saw here would start moving through book shelves in ways that didn't make sense.

Was it possible for a thread to go inside a wall and keep moving around?

No. It wasn't.

That was why it should snap.

But this would only happen when Mira looked at the thread.

In this domain, your surroundings depended on how you perceived them.

The thread was being perceived by me, and Mira.

It was connected to both of us.

For me, it would be normal for the thread to go where I was going.

But for Mira who would see the thread going into the book shelves, it should not be possible and the thread should break.

Both of our views were clashing.

That was why I told Mira to not see the thread.

Unless she perceived the thread going into the wall, the thread would work largely on the basis of how I was perceiving it, and it wouldn't break.

I waited until she closed her eyes, then stepped forward.

The moment my foot touched the road, the world shifted.

The overlapping layers disappeared, leaving only one.

Shops, streets, and a clear blue sky came into view.

Selene's personal world.

It was empty, quiet, and too clean. Everything looked still, almost frozen in place.

And I was now inside it.

I froze for a moment.

'Damn.'

I couldn't see the other personal worlds anymore. Only this one.

That meant, from my perception, the thread should now be stretching into an unknown place to reach Mira.

'Has the thread broken?'

I moved my hand slightly.

Thankfully, it was still tied around my finger.

'Maybe the thread is still working based on the world I saw before entering Selene's personal world?'

I didn't know exactly how it worked, but I didn't dare turn around to check.

If the thread was passing through a wall, and I looked at it, my perception might make it "impossible," and the thread could snap.

Then I would be stuck here forever.

Things like this needed to be handled carefully.

That's why exploring a Cursed Spirit's domain was dangerous, and only people with sharp minds could survive it.

"Yuna, don't look at where the thread is going," I said.

"Understood, Lord of Shadows," she replied.

She didn't question me. From her calm tone, I could tell she had dealt with Cursed Spirits before and understood the risks.

I started walking down the street.

The thread stretched on its own.

The longer it grew, the more pressure I felt on my mind.

I stopped using Hollow Eyes to ease the strain.

Yuna glanced at me. "Do you really know how to exorcise this Cursed Spirit, Lord of Shadows?"

I nodded.

"We can't escape. Every time someone tries, they get caught. So first, we need to shut down the research institution that's running these experiments. Then they will no longer have a reason to stop us from escaping," I explained.

I looked at her.

"Can you guess how we shut this place down?"
