Chapter 126: The Perilous Entrance

The Bloodied Angel took about an hour to reach their destination. The area featured a shallow turquoise water channel, with a towering, steep rock island in the middle. The massive structure reached up to the clouds. The Bloodied Angel circled the island to show Chang Long's group that there was no visible entrance to the island. However, this was not a problem for Siegfried, the map holder.

"See? I told you there's no way in. It's a solid rock island, Chang Long,"

Captain Columbus said as he gazed out at the unusually calm sea.

"Do you see it?"

Chang Long asked Siegfried and Draco, ignoring Captain Columbus's remark.

"Yes, I see two ways in. One is a cliff about 20 meters above sea level, and the other seems to require us to go underneath the island. It looks quite challenging,"

Siegfried replied, looking serious.

"But I only see the entrance on the high cliff. Could I have missed something!"

Draco responded, scratching his head.

"I agree. I only see the entrance on the cliff,"

Chang Long nodded, sharing Draco's observation.

"Let's split into two teams to explore,"

Oliang suggested.

"Sounds good, but how will we enter if we can't see the entrance?"

Lidded Wet Trash Can asked.

"Remember, Leevalas mentioned that if someone who can read the map leads the way, others who can't see the entrance will still be able to enter!"

Kimhant reminded them.

"But is it wise to split up? We don't know if both paths lead to the same place,"

Aden pointed out, making everyone pause to consider. They were unsure what awaited them, except for the fairies that Miracle Doctor Zhang Yijie had mentioned.

"I don't think we need to worry about that. The map only provides a rough guide. The locations of Princess Rhea and Siegfried's treasure cave are probably not immediately visible,"

Hero speculated.

"Look at the symbols at the entrance. The spot Siegfried mentioned looks like a cave entrance, right?"

Chang Long turned to Siegfried.

"Should we lower the small boats?"

Captain Columbus, who had been quietly listening, suggested, though he was curious about the group's conversation.

"Yes, thank you!"

Siegfried replied. Captain Columbus ordered his crew to lower two dinghies into the water.

"Uh... you seem to have the map of this island. Could we join your exploration?"

Captain Columbus asked politely. He was eager to explore the uncharted island where no other players had been to, hoping to make a contract with a fairy.

"We can allow it, but we need to handle Siegfried's business first. Can you wait until we come back to fetch you?"

Chang Long responded, not wanting the Pirate King's treasure to become public knowledge too soon, as it would blow out just the same way it did when she discovered it. At least she wanted them to finish doing what they need to do inside, before bringing in Captain Columbus group.

"Of course, that's nice of you. I didn't expect you to agree!"

Captain Columbus replied happily.

"Hmm? It's not free, so don't get too excited,"

Chang Long raised an eyebrow at him. They had been charged a lot for the journey and intended to get some payback.

"We don't know how long it will take. Keep an eye on that cliff with the small indentation. We'll come back for you there,"

Chang Long said with a light laugh, seeing Captain Columbus's expression.

"Understood!"

Captain Columbus agreed with a laugh.

"And... don't tell anyone, not even your association members. I don't want this getting out. If you keep your promise, I'll show you how to enter the island on your own,"

Chang Long insisted.

"I swear on my honor as the Bloodied Angel's captain!"

Captain Columbus promised earnestly. Chang Long smiled in satisfaction and stepped into one of the dinghies, manned by two guild members each. The two boats headed towards the island on the opposite side of the Bloodied Angel. The dinghies blocked from sight by the island's massiveness as they approached the entrance to the treasure cave.

Boommm!

At the entrance, visible only to Siegfried, the group had to jump into the water to pass through a narrow underwater cave, barely wide enough for their heads to stay above water. Siegfried swam ahead to check the entrance, confirming with a small symbol of the cave's owner that they were on the right path. As he swam through first, the hidden path became visible.

"You might need to stay at the back. If you leave first, the path will disappear,"

Jane suggested when the path vanished as Siegfried exited.

"Sure, but let Can and Draco lead in case there are monsters ahead. I'll be on the rear,"

Siegfried nodded, swimming back to reopen the path.

Draco and Wet Trash Can led the way as instructed, followed by Valentine and Aden. Peach Blossom and Kimhant, who had to stow away his camera to keep it dry, brought up the rear. Although his camera was rugged, he did not want to risk it getting wet and missing out on capturing more incredible scenes during their island exploration.

The fourth row consisted of Hero and Jane, the fifth row of Chang Long and Oliang, with Siegfried at the rear. The crew members who had rowed them to the island returned to the Bloodied Angel on the captain's orders, though they were concerned for Chang Long's group as the path they swam into was quite dark.

"It's so dark in here, you can barely see anything. And it's narrow..."

Peach Blossom said, her voice tinged with worry due to her claustrophobia.

"It's okay, Peach Blossom. You can hold onto me if you feel scared,"

Valentine offered with extending hand, sensing Peach Blossom's anxiety.

"Thank you, Mi!"

Peach Blossom responded gratefully, gently touching Valentine's shoulder and holding on for comfort.

Everyone's pets were sealed in their accessories, so they felt somewhat anxious without their keen instincts to warn them of danger. However, this was not a problem for Chang Long, who had the spirits of Davy-chan and Hisa-chan. They could freely move within fifty meters of her, scouting and reporting the path's status.

"Keep going, Draco. Can, there's nothing blocking the way ahead,"

Chang Long shouted, easing everyone's worries. Soon, though it felt like a long time in the darkness, they reached a staircase carved from the surrounding stone. The steps were sharp and slippery, but they all climbed onto dry ground with relief. As Siegfried was the last to exit the water, the path behind them vanished.

Whoosh!

As they fumbled in the dark, torches on the cave walls ignited, illuminating the area. They found themselves in a narrow space with a large doorway leading further inside.

"Oliang, Mi, and Aden should go first. There might be traps ahead,"

Chang Long advised from her own experience. Oliang, Valentine, and Aden cautiously led the way. As they stepped forward, the wall sconces lit up one by one, illuminating the entire path. Everyone drew their weapons, ready for any unexpected situations.

Click!

Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang, clang

After walking for a while, they heard the faint sound of mechanisms. In the quiet cave, the sound was clear as day. Davy-chan appeared and shouted a warning.

"Trap!"

"Where? Where is it coming from!"

Everyone froze, searching for the source of the trap.

Whoosh!

Thousands of arrows rained down from above and shot up from the ground. They fell like a torrential downpour, closing in from behind. The group was stunned, caught off guard.

"Run!"

Chang Long yelled, snapping everyone out of their daze. Oliang grabbed Peach Blossom who was close by and started running, with Valentine and Aden close behind, carrying Kimhant and Wet Trash Can. The two could not outrun the trap on their own with their speed.

The hail of arrows drew nearer, and Chang Long's group struggled to outpace it. Siegfried and Chang Long, at the rear, faced the most danger. As the arrows closed in, just a meter away, Chang Long quickly unfurled her wings and grabbed Siegfried's arm.

"Tornado Wing!"

Chang Long shouted, activating the skill. Though it was primarily an attack skill, its level was at 1 so, it would not harm her friends who were over level fifty. She used it to create a whirlwind to swiftly carry her friends out of the long passageway.

"Mystic Gust!"

Now it was her turn, along with the young man in her arms, who looked at her with a mixture of confusion at the role reversal. Chang Long flapped her wings, using the Mystic Gust skill. The narrow passage barely accommodated her wings, forcing her to tilt sideways to continue.

The friends, carried by the tornado, landed about seven meters from the exit. They shook off their dizziness and immediately ran toward the exit. Chang Long and Siegfried followed quickly, despite Siegfried's mixed feelings about being held by her. However, he also felt a sense of happiness.

"Everyone, when you get out of this path, don't go anywhere. Wait right there!"

Chang Long shouted. She knew there would be more traps on the way leading to the treasure room.

Once at a suitable distance, Chang Long's warm embrace ended abruptly as she threw Siegfried forward with great force.

"Wait, Chang Long!" Siegfried yelled in surprise as he was hurled three meters ahead, rolling several times. Dazed, he stood up only to hear Chang Long urging him to keep running forward.

Chang Long needed to throw Siegfried because carrying him slowed her down, allowing the arrows to get closer. Without him in her arms, she managed to gain some distance from the arrows but was still far from the exit. Her friends, now safe, watched anxiously.

"Hurry, Chang! Just a little more!"

Valentine shouted. Chang Long folded her wings for better agility and used Mystic Gust again. The arrows were mere feet away. She sprinted with all the speed her swift movement skills allowed. Siegfried reached out, grabbing her hand, and pulled her out of the deadly path just in time.

"Whew!"

The boys exclaimed in unison, including Jane, the queer one.

"Hehe,"

Kimhant laughed awkwardly, feeling embarrassed on Siegfried's behalf.

"Big brother Sieg!"

Peach Blossom called out jealously, envying his closeness to Chang Long.

Chang Long was tightly embraced by Siegfried, who seemed overly concerned. Peach Blossom tried to pull her brother away from her beloved Master Chang, but his grip seemed glued. He would not release Chang Long easily.

"Let go, Sieg..."

Chang Long whispered softly, her face slightly red.

"S... sorry, I was just too surprised,"

Siegfried apologized, releasing her with a flushed face.

"Uh... try throwing something ahead. I think there are more traps,"

Chang Long suggested, quickly regaining her composure. She pointed to the path ahead, a wide cave hall stretching far into the distance.

"Got it!"

Oliang said with a grin. He pulled an empty glass bottle from his bag and hurled it as far as he could.

The bottle flew through the air without incident until it began to descend. Everyone watched in awe as massive spikes shot up from the ground, piercing and shattering the bottle before retracting with great speed.

"Holy moly!"

Hero could not help but exclaim.

"How are we supposed to get past that...?"

The duo, Oliang and Can, stared in open-mouthed shock, much like the rest of their group.

Chang Long pondered for a while before coming to a conclusion. She hypothesized that the second trap was likely similar, relying on timing and rhythm. Otherwise, how could players without wings get through? The traps were designed to be challenging but not insurmountable. It would have a weak point or a clue, especially in a place like the Pirate King's Secret Tomb, which sought worthy successors.

Chang Long instructed Oliang to throw another glass bottle, this time in a rhythmic manner at the same spot, to test her theory.

Shunk!

Crash!

Crash!

As Chang Long expected, the first bottle was shattered by the spikes shooting up from the ground. However, the second bottle, thrown half a minute later, hit the ground and broke without triggering the spikes.
