The seawater was rapidly flooding in as they hurried to find the key to open the treasure cave. The ravenous sea albino piranhas swarmed Chang Long's group, causing chaos. Chang Long spread her wings and took off to search for the key herself, seeing that her friends were struggling to fend off the hundreds of piranhas surrounding them.
"The moment we get out of here, I'm buying a pair of wings for myself!"
Jane grumbled while aiming her gun at one of the sea albino piranhas, causing it to explode into a cloud of blood.
"I was thinking the same thing. Even though they aren't fused wings and consume mana when used, they really are useful!"
Hero agreed. Despite their high climbing skills, there would be no point if they were stuck somewhere with nothing to climb.
"That's going to be tough. Though they are really useful, wing gears are rare and incredibly expensive. Even if you try to hunt for them, the drop rate is very low,"
Draco explained. He had hunted for wing gears before but had to sell them to financially support his newly established guild, as did Siegfried and Rafael.
"Hey, stop chatting and keep fighting. I almost lost my shins here!"
Lidded Wet Trash Can yelled, making the two men and one queer grimace and turn back to slaughtering the piranhas.
Although the piranhas were only level fifteen and could be killed with a single hit, their sheer numbers gave them a significant advantage. Each member of the group received multiple bites, and the blood from their wounds only made the piranhas more aggressive and relentless.
"Chang! Have you found it yet? Hurry, the water is up to our waists now!"
Valentine shouted to Chang Long, who was still flying around searching for the key, seemingly unhurried.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm looking..."
Chang Long replied lazily, causing her friends to panic, wondering if she was just bored of searching.
Boommm!
The sound of exploding water echoed loudly, causing everyone to turn and look. They saw a massive gray fin thrashing in the water. The water level was not high enough for it to swim freely yet.
"Good heavens!"
Kimhant shouted, the sound echoing through everyone's ears. It was understandable why he yelled; the massive great white shark had entered the area. As the water level continued to rise, it was only a matter of time before they faced its full terror.
"Hurry, Master Changggg. Peach Blossom doesn't want to be shark food!"
Peach Blossom screamed in fear.
"I'm looking, but couldn't... Ah!"
Chang Long suddenly went silent, spotting a glint from the shark's five-meter-long body. As it thrashed, its head emerged, revealing a thick golden chain around its neck. Hanging from the chain was a pendant shaped very much like a key.
Chang Long stared at the shark, clearly frustrated. It seemed that unless they confronted and killed it, they would not get into the treasure room. But the nightmare was not over yet; the booming sounds continued, and three more sharks, each over three meters long, followed their leader into the area.
"We're in trouble, Sieg. We need to do something before these sharks can swim freely!"
Draco said, turning to his friend with a tense expression.
"Let's split up and handle the sharks. Draco, Can, could you each take one? Jane and Hero, stay in the back and provide cover fire. As for Valentine, Aden, Peach Blossom, and Kimhant, the piranhas shouldn't be too much trouble. Their numbers are already halved. Alright, let's go, Lycanth!"
Siegfrid commanded his friends before leading Lycanth toward one of the great white sharks. Wet Trash Can and Oliang went for another, while Draco summoned Firetail and went after the third great white.
"Where's boss!"
Kimhant exclaimed in surprise, not seeing Kitsune by his side.
"He went to help Chang fight. It looks like Chang is attacking that big shark,"
Valentine replied.
"Let's take care of these toothy fish so we can help the others with the sharks,"
Aden suggested, tired of stabbing the smaller fish.
"Sounds good,"
Valentine agreed, working quickly to eliminate the annoying sea piranhas.
Meanwhile, Chang Long hovered above the massive form of the level 80 Flying Great White Shark Beast King. The water level was not high enough for it to fully showcase its prowess. Chang Long raised the Sovereign Sword high and plunged it mercilessly into the shark's head.
Shunk!
Bright red blood gushed from the wound like a fountain, the scent permeating the water. The sea piranhas changed targets, swarming the Flying Great White Shark Beast King instead. Hero and Jane quickly fired at the piranhas, popping them like balloons with precise shots.
The water level now reached chest height, making movement difficult for Chang Long's team. The three Flying Great White Shark Beasts, however, could now swim freely without scraping their bellies on the sand, clearly giving Chang Long's friends a disadvantage.
Lycanth adeptly leapt onto the cave walls, then launched itself down with claws extended, aiming for the shark Siegfried was fighting.
Boommm!
The impact was thunderous, sending seawater splashing nearly three meters high, followed by bright red blood slowly mixing with the clear blue seawater, causing Siegfried to worry that Lycanth might be injured.
"Lycanth!"
Siegfried called out, concerned, his eyes carefully scanning the murky red water for his pet's body.
Splasssh!
Lycanth emerged from the water shortly after, looking majestic and dignified. Its amber eyes met its master's relieved gaze before turning to the shark, whose body was bent from the impact and had deep scratches on its head. It was nearly defeated; one more strong blow would finish it off.
Draco and Firetail were just as impressive. Despite the risks, Draco managed to lift the Flying Great White Shark Beast he was fighting out of the water. Firetail seized the opportunity, using its sharp hind claws to grasp the shark and hold it aloft. Because Firetail was the same size as the Flying Great White Shark Beast, it was not easy to hold the thrashing shark in its claws for long.
Chomp!
Firetail opened its mouth wide and bit a chunk out of the Flying Great White Shark Beast's head with teeth as sharp as the shark's, removing about thirty centimeters of flesh. Blood poured out, causing the shark to struggle less.
Draco took advantage of this, thrusting his large sword upward through the shark's head. It still did not die, so he struck twice more, and it finally lay still, turning into white light and disappearing.
The duo Wet Trash Can and Oliang worked excellently together. Wet Trash Can acted as a base for Oliang to stand on, keeping the Flying Great White Shark Beast still. With his warrior class focusing on powerful attacks and his muscular build, Wet Trash Can held the shark in place with just his hands, gritting his teeth from the effort.
Oliang did not let his friend struggle alone. He quickly climbed onto Wet Trash Can's body and flipped onto the Flying Great White Shark Beast with ease. Then he started slashing and stabbing the shark relentlessly until Wet Trash Can felt the shark's strength weakening significantly.
"Keep slashing, Oliang! It's losing strength!"
Wet Trash Can shouted to his friend, trying to hold the shark steady. Oliang nodded and continued slashing with his Moonlight Sword, but he could not keep his balance on the thrashing shark for long and eventually fell into the water.
Clink!
Chang Long had Kitsune pull the key from the chains around the Flying Great White Shark Beast King's neck, suffering only minor injuries. Meanwhile, she had to call Hisa-chan for Spirit Possession and use the exhausting and energy-draining Constant Sword technique twice to subdue the enemy.
Kitsune swam laboriously to deliver the key to Jane, who was waiting, as neither he nor Hero could use their guns anymore with the water level rising above their heads and becoming turbulent. Jane climbed onto Hero's shoulders, trying to insert the key into the keyhole that was nearly out of reach even with their combined height.
Siegfried and Draco went to help Oliang and Wet Trash Can deal with the last Flying Great White Shark Beast. They then swam towards the door where Jane was trembling as she tried to fit the key into the lock with shaky hands.
Click!
A soft, heavenly click was heard, and a large hole formed in the sand, sucking the seawater down and causing the water level to drop rapidly. Eventually, Chang Long's group lay flat on the ground, exhausted, with only a few puddles remaining. Though seawater continued to flow in from outside, it no longer caused flooding.
Rumbleee!
Chang Long gently landed on the ground and retracted her wings as the golden door in front of them slowly opened. Judging by the state of her friends, it was clear no one would be getting up anytime soon. She let them rest while she walked over to peek inside the room ahead, despite her muscles trembling from the strain from Hisa-chan's possession.
"How is it, Chang Long? Are there treasures inside?"
Oliang asked in a hoarse voice.
"Uh-huh, the treasure is piled high..."
Chang Long replied with a weak smile before sitting down, Kitsune cuddling close to her. She began tending to the long wound from the shark's teeth on Kitsune.
After resting for a while, everyone noticed the faint rays of sunlight from outside, indicating it was late evening. Little did they know it was actually the evening of the second day since they had entered the cave. Siegfried led his friends into the treasure room, which was vast and filled with numerous treasures: gold coins, weapons, luxurious Elven clothing, and various dazzling gems.
"Wow! Even if we split this, there'll still be a lot left!"
Kimhant exclaimed, pulling out his camera and eagerly taking pictures.
"Who said we're splitting it with you, Kim?"
Peach Blossom scolded, glancing at him sideways. Kimhant ignored her, continuing to take photos of the treasure room enthusiastically.
Fwoosh!
Torches in the room's corners ignited, illuminating the room further. At the center stood a white throne on a large stone platform. Upon closer inspection, it was made entirely of intricately carved ivory. Sitting on the throne was a man with straight, light brown hair and very pale skin, wearing simple yet elegant cream-colored silk garments trimmed with gold.
He stared unblinkingly at Siegfried and nodded, beckoning him to approach. After seeking Chang Long's opinion, Siegfried slowly walked towards the man on the throne, his eyes filled with curiosity.
"My heir... You have finally arrived,"
the man said, standing up and speaking in a soft yet powerful voice, looking pleased as he saw Siegfried holding the Caduceus.
"Are you the Pirate King Heaven?"
Siegfried asked, having some inkling already.
"Ah... That is my name. Are you ready to inherit the title of Pirate King and the title of Guardian of the Stars from me?"
Pirate King Heaven said. Siegfried's friends watched with excitement.
"Yes, I am ready!"
Siegfried responded softly but firmly. Heaven smiled in satisfaction, motioning for the young man to kneel on one knee. He gently placed his hand on Siegfried's head.
"Dear Great God Orome. I, Heaven, Pirate King and bearer of the title granted by you, hereby bestow the title of Guardian of the Stars to..."
"Siegfried!"
Siegfried announced his name when Heaven looked at him. Heaven smiled gently at him, pleased that his heir shared similar traits.
"I hereby bestow the title of Guardian of the Stars to Siegfried, along with the profession of healer and the Alberich outfit set (the Powerful Elf King), to my heir, from this moment forth,"
Heaven declared. A soft white light emanated from his hand, enveloping Siegfried's body, making the young man glow brightly. Everyone closed their eyes, unable to bear the intensity of the light.
