Chapter 184: The Unexpected Battle

Chang Long ended up drawing the tent that Kimhant had found, along with mostly jewelry. Oliang, despite praying against it, drew the wedding dress and also some jewelry. Lidded Wet Trash Can got a weapon, but it was not as powerful as the one he had acquired from the quest egg, so he planned to sell it. Siegfried drew the cottage that Chang Long had found and some jewelry as well. Destiny drew a full magical crystal, while others mostly drew weapons and jewelry. After checking everything, they realized there was not the thing that Cat-Faced Angel needed. So, they decided to let Cat-Faced Angel be the one to touch the Wishing Mystery Box to get what she desired. She then offered to give back everything she had drawn so the others could divide it among themselves, as there was only thing she wanted. The box was worth far more than all the items they had collected.

"Think about what you want before you touch it. Otherwise, you might miss out on what you really want!"

Wet Trash Can advised. Cat-Faced Angel nodded, thinking of the large circus tent that all beast tamers dreamed of finding from a quest, especially from those limited to specific professions. But only a handful had ever possessed one.

Cat-Faced Angel thought about the quest's tent she had once seen when a high-level beast tamer used it for a circus performance. That image was still vivid in her mind. As soon as she reached out to touch the Wishing Mystery Box, the light vanished instantly, accompanied by a click, as if the box had been opened. In her hand appeared a purple-and-gold tent with a gold flag on top. She smiled in satisfaction, letting everyone know that this was exactly what she wanted.

They decided to rest in the basin for the night, as it was already late. They celebrated, with Chang Long taking charge of the drinks and most of the food. The spirits that had been sealed were invited to join the festivities, and they did not seem to mind—except for a bit of surprise at seeing a young elf among the group.

"Seems like we have a lot in common. How about forming an allied guild?"

Oliang suggested, thinking it would give them an ally with a similar mindset in the game.

"Sounds good to me. What do you think, Siegfried?"

Destiny agreed and asked Siegfried for his opinion.

"Good idea. We should start allying with guilds that have a positive approach to the game. It seems like the major guilds known for their evil deeds are getting stronger. When the time comes, we'll need to band together to stand against them,"

Siegfried replied, making Destiny and his friends smile with satisfaction. The idea of being allied with a well-respected guild that shared their gaming vision was reassuring.

"There's another guild you might be interested in,"

Chang Long, who was sitting with her pets, chimed in after overhearing the conversation between the guys.

"Which guild?"

Siegfried and Destiny asked almost simultaneously, curious.

"Caesar Guild,"

Chang Long replied, causing a moment of surprise among the group.

"That guild might not be a good fit, Chang Long. I've heard that Apollo, their leader, has a homosexual preference, and he likes to have his subordinates bully other players into giving up rare drops from beasts in the areas their guild controls,"

Oliang said, and everyone nodded in agreement.

"The guild has a new leader now, but they haven't announced it yet because they're still getting things in order,"

Kimhant explained on Chang Long's behalf, while she was busy teasing Kimhant's pet by pulling on its wings to keep it away from the food. The poor creature squawked in protest but did not dare defy her.

"Why did they change the guild leader? How come no one knows about this?"

Destiny asked, and everyone nodded, eager to know the answer.

"Because the old guild leader had a bad attitude. Many members were already unhappy with him, and he was way too easy to kill—not fit to be a leader at all!"

Devi-chan suddenly appeared and answered, startling those who had never seen him before, almost making them scream.

"Ghost!"

Destiny was the first to exclaim.

"Tch, so what if I'm a ghost? Why so scared!"

Devi-chan retorted, sounding a bit tipsy from having drunk several bottles of strong liquor.

"Go back and drink with Hisa-chan, Alice-chan, and Heaven. Let Kimhant finish the story!"

Chang Long scolded, causing Devi-chan to pout before vanishing from everyone's sight.

"So, are you interested?"

Chang Long asked the men, continuing the conversation.

"It's intriguing. Caesar Guild is a major guild, respected by many. It's only second to two major guilds: Doom Star and Dark Horse. But how do you know about this, Chang Long?"

Destiny responded, considering the idea, though he still seemed a bit wary after Devi-chan's sudden appearance.

"We didn't just hear about it; we were there during the guild leader change. The new leader is actually a friend of ours and one of master's subordinates,"

Kimhant explained proudly.

"Really? That's awesome, Chang Long. You've got a guild leader as one of your subordinates!"

Wet Trash Can exclaimed excitedly.

"If that's true, then it's definitely interesting. Anyone Chang Long befriends must be a good person,"

Siegfried nodded, smiling warmly.

Hearing this, Chang Long contacted Phiros, the unofficial leader of Caesar Guild. He answered the call in a tired voice, but when Chang Long mentioned that two guilds wanted to form an alliance, he became excited, especially when he learned that one of them was Pendragon—a small guild but one with a great reputation.

"Absolutely, let's do it!"

Phiros responded enthusiastically.

"Uh-huh. He agreed!"

Chang Long turned to the others and nodded, seeing no strong reaction from the two guild leaders. In fact, they were a bit stunned at how easily these big guilds agreed to ally with their smaller one.

"Oh, okay. We'll send the alliance request first, and then we can discuss what the symbol of our allied guilds should be,"

Destiny responded, accustomed to handling guild matters, while Siegfried, who was not very involved in guild activities, seemed less knowledgeable on the subject—unlike Rafael, who was as adept as if he were a guild leader himself.

After agreeing on the alliance, the celebration continued with great enthusiasm. The area where they were camping remained peaceful, with no beasts to disturb them. Meanwhile, Phiros could not help but sigh, regretting that he had listened to Chang Long and accepted the position of Caesar Guild leader. Now, all he did was training rigorously with the deputy leader, which, although fun at times, was also frustrating because it kept him from exploring the game world freely.

The next morning, after Cat-Faced Angel had obtained the item she wanted, everyone used a teleportation scroll to return to the city. They all ended up in Alexandria, where Cat-Faced Angel expressed her gratitude to everyone for their help, smiling widely even if it was her usual sleepy smile. Meanwhile, it seemed that Oliang and his friends had hit it off with the members of the Immortal Guild, especially with the guild's female members. Since meeting the rest of the Immortal Guild, they had become inseparable from the ladies of that guild.

"Where are you heading next, Chang Long?"

Destiny approached and asked, noticing that she seemed to have no specific destination in mind.

"I'd like to do some sightseeing, but I also have a quest to complete. Cedric has been urging me, so I'm thinking of heading to another island from port in another city. But first, I'll explore this island a bit more. Since I'm here, I might as well see it all,"

Chang Long replied. She figured she might catch a ship at the port located on the southern tip of the Afric Island.

"If you don't mind, how about we show you around?"

Destiny offered with a smile. He was curious about who Cedric was but decided not to ask, not wanting to make Chang Long uncomfortable. Besides, they had only just met, and prying into personal matters would not be appropriate.

"Hey, Siegfried! Look over there. Destiny's flirting with Chang Long, isn't he!"

Wet Trash Can nudged Siegfried, trying to be helpful. Siegfried could not stay put after hearing that and quickly walked over to where Chang Long and Destiny were standing, chatting amiably.

"That sure got him moving!"

Wet Trash Can said with satisfaction. In truth, he was not really being helpful. He just figured that if Siegfried joined the conversation, the girls would be focused solely on Siegfried, leaving him completely unnoticed.

The elven man walked over to where Chang Long and Destiny stood talking. He knew that Chang Long was not someone who would easily soften up to anyone, but nothing was certain in this world. It was better to show his face frequently.

"What are you two talking about?"

Siegfried asked as he approached them.

"Oh, Siegfried, I was just offering to show Chang Long around the Afric Island. Would you like to join us?"

Destiny replied. He had no idea that Siegfried liked Chang Long, so he did not feel awkward standing close to her. Besides, Chang Long's appearance was no longer as intimidating or cold as it once was, thanks to her new Lord of Spirits profession. Only those unfamiliar with her still left some distance finding the chilly atmosphere around her unsettling.

"Oh, sure, of course,"

Siegfried responded with a smile.

Everyone then went to have breakfast at a luxurious restaurant in Alexandria before setting off for a new city. Chang Long had been in the territory of this city before, but she had never ventured into its heart. The city of Thebes was on the opposite side of Alexandria, with a savanna in between. Like Alexandria, it had an ancient Egyptian civilization vibe, but it was more prosperous, with fertile fields and a beautiful blue river cutting through it—the Nile.

The journey took two days, leaving Chang Long with only one day of online time. Thebes was a beautiful city. Some people paired up to explore the entire city. Kimhant and Cat-Faced Angel slipped away together unnoticed. Chang Long and her pets sat by the riverside to enjoy the view, while the remaining men were invited to the market to sell the items they had obtained from the Cave of Million.

Although Siegfried wanted to stay with Chang Long, he could not refuse his friends. So, they all headed to the market, leaving Chang Long and her pets to relax by the Nile.

"I'm glad. I never thought we'd be fated to meet here..."

A soft, polite voice with a strangely unsettling tone spoke from behind Chang Long, causing her and her pets to whip around to see who it was.

"You!"

Sometimes fate had a way of playing tricks on us. Peace and quiet never lasted long, and trouble always seemed to find its way back. Like now, the person standing before Chang Long was not someone she ever expected—or wanted—to see. In fact, he was the last person she wanted to encounter in this entire online game. But it seemed the man in front of her felt the exact opposite, as he appeared quite pleased to have run into her.

Chang Long stared at the man, unsure of what to say. She did not know how to greet him, especially since the dark shadow forming behind him gave off an unsettling, evil aura.

"You look like you didn't want to see me,"

the man said, stepping closer.

"Stop right there. Don't come any closer!"

Chang Long ordered. At that moment, both Hulu, Kitsune, and even Fluffly Head-chan seemed to be on the verge of losing control, growling lowly. Meanwhile, her spirits stood still, glaring intensely at the man.

"Oh... alright. But I have a favor to ask. Will you listen?"

The man said, halting his steps and looking at Chang Long's agitated pets with amusement. His tone turned serious as he posed the question.

"What?"

Chang Long replied. The calm, relaxed demeanor she had earlier was gone, replaced by a wary stance as she eyed the man cautiously.

"I want to fight you, right now. It can be one-on-one, or with pets involved, as I have one too,"

the man said with a grin. He then summoned his pet, releasing it from its seal. It was a dog that looked somewhat like a fox, but it was actually a jackal with an orange body and a black stripe down its back. Strangely, it stood on two legs, towering taller than most players. Despite its unassuming front paws, it held a large spear, and its red eyes glowed menacingly as it leered at Chang Long's group, licking its lips as if eyeing a delicious treat.

"Didn't you used to have a bird?"

Chang Long asked, puzzled, remembering the last time she saw him with a black eagle by his side.

"Ery was too cowardly, so I gave it to my brother. But I found something better here—a jackal, revered by the ancient Egyptians as a symbol of death. But this one is different; it's a demon that loves fighting as much as I do. But what does this have to do with whether you accept my challenge or not?"

He explained before turning the question back to her.

"What if I refuse?"

Chang Long asked.

"Then I'll fight anyway, and I'll kill every single one of them without mercy, unless you accept the challenge. If you do, you can set the rules for the fight,"

he replied casually, as if the threat he had just issued did not bother him at all.

Chang Long did not have many choices. If she refused, there was no guarantee that her pets could escape unscathed from the hands of this seemingly psychopathic player. Even though her pets were Sacred Beasts, they were still relatively low-level and inexperienced in combat. The only reason they had not died yet was due to the sheer numbers of allies backing them up. But facing this man was different—different in level, skill, and sheer ruthlessness.
