Chapter 187: Special Episode: The Origin of Lidded Wet Trash Can

Special Episode: The Origin of Lidded Wet Trash Can

In the character creation room of Adventure World Online, a tall, athletic muscular young man named Ben was facing a common problem many players encounter—the naming process. He had tried over ten good names, thinking they would be unique, but the lady in the red dress kept repeating the same phrase: The name was already taken. Frustrated, he was on the verge of losing his mind.

"What the hell should I do! I already told O that I'd use the name Tang Yiluo, but it turns out someone else took it. Whatever happens, I've got to stick with something that starts with 'Tang.' Let's see if there's any Tang name left that I can use!"

Ben vowed with determination and turned back to the lady in the red dress, who stood there patiently smiling.

"What would you like to name your character?"

She asked sweetly when Ben looked at her again.

"Tangnam (water can)!"

Ben replied.

"This name is already taken. Please choose a new name,"

the lady in red responded with a smile.

"Tangkao (rice can)!"

"This name is already taken. Please choose a new name."

"Tangsaipla (fish bucket)!"

"This name is already taken. Please choose a new name."

"Seriously... Who the hell is named Fish Bucket!"

Ben grumbled, starting to lose his patience. How long had he been stuck here, trying to name his character?

"Would you like the system to generate a name for you?"

The lady in red offered sympathetically, seeing that Ben had spent so much time on this task without getting to play the game.

"No, I'll do it myself!"

Ben insisted, determined to win against the game, even if it was just in naming his character. He then proceeded to try a variety of names starting with the word Tang, but the responses remained the same.

"This name is already taken. Please choose a new name."

"Tang Kaya (Trash Can)!"

Ben blurted out, clearly irritated and on the brink of losing it.

"This name is already taken. Please choose a new name."

"Tang Kaya Piak (Wet Trash Can)!"

Ben said, struggling to contain his anger.

"This name is already taken. Please choose a new name."

"What the hell is going on. I've been standing here for hours, haven't I? This is so annoying!"

Ben shouted in frustration, while the lady in red continued to smile, unbothered. After all, she was just an AI.

On the other side, Mr. O, or Oliang as he was known in the game—came up with the nam easil—stood waiting impatiently in front of the Player Service Building. He was just as frustrated as his friend, having waited ages for Ben to show up in the city, but there was still no sign of him.

"What the hell is Ben doing? Don't tell me he's still flirting with that red-dressed AI!"

Oliang muttered irritably, as someone with nothing else to do but glance at the passing female players.

"What's with that Tang Yiluo name of his? I sent him a friend request, and he hasn't responded. Could it be he still hasn't decided on a name yet!"

Oliang continued grumbling since there was nothing else he could do.

Unsurprisingly, the person he was grumbling about sneezed loudly, feeling even more annoyed. Ben had been trying to calm himself, hoping for a flash of inspiration.

"I can't even use Trash Can. Wet Trash Can is also taken. Maybe it's not polite enough because wet trash stinks, right? Then I'll just put a lid on it so it won't stink!"

Ben muttered to himself like a man on the edge. He decided then and there to go with this new idea, confident that it would not be taken by anyone else. He walked back to the red-dressed AI, who still stood there with a patient smile.

"Lidded Wet Trash Can!"

Ben declared.

"This name is available. Would you like to confirm?"

The voice of the AI was like music to his ears. He wanted to hear it a few more times, but he quickly confirmed before anyone could take the name from him again.

"Confirm!"

Ben quickly responded, so overjoyed that he almost jumped for joy. At last, he had successfully named his character, overcoming the huge hurdle that had kept him from starting the game. He was finally going to be sent to the Starting Town and begin making a name for himself as the coolest, most skilled player in the game.

"Character name successfully created. The system is now sending the player 'Lidded Wet Trash Can' into the game,"

announced the AI in the red dress. As soon as her voice faded, everything went dark, only to light up again when his feet touched the stone floor of the Starting Town. Lidded Wet Trash Can spotted the Player Service Building and saw his best friend standing irritably on the stairs in front. He immediately ran over to him.

"Ben. Why didn't you just come tomorrow instead? Look, my stats have dropped in so many areas already, see!"

Oliang yelled as soon as he saw his friend.

"Ugh, shut up. I had my own reasons, alright!"

Lidded Wet Trash Can snapped back, not caring that he was at fault for leaving his friend waiting for hours.

"What the hell kind of reason took you so damn long? Don't tell me you were stuck on the naming screen!"

Oliang continued to complain as they walked into the Player Service Building to collect all the necessary items for starting players.

"Yeah..."

Lidded Wet Trash Can muttered so softly it was almost inaudible.

"So, what's your in-game name anyway? I'll add you to my friend list!"

Oliang asked, expertly fiddling with his wristwatch.

"(Mumble)... Lidded Wet Trash Can... (Mumble)"

Lidded Wet Trash Can mumbled, his face turning red with embarrassment. He was thrilled when he finally managed to get the name, but now that he had to tell it to the others, he felt like sinking into the ground.

"What are you mumbling about? Say it louder!"

Oliang snapped, starting to lose his temper for real. Not only had he waited all day, but now Ben was keeping his name a secret too.

"Lidded Wet Trash Can, damn it!"

Lidded Wet Trash Can shouted his name in anger, loud enough for everyone around to hear. The other players were stunned for a moment before bursting into loud laughter.

"Hahaha. Seriously? After all that time, that's the name you came up with? Hahaha, that's hilarious! You must have put a lot of thought into it if it took you that long!"

Oliang laughed loudly, showing no consideration for his friend, who stood there with a flushed face, embarrassed at yelling his own name.

"Stop laughing, Oliang, or I swear I'll beat you to a pulp!"

Lidded Wet Trash Can snapped at his friend, dragging him toward the NPC waiting to assist new players in the building. They disappeared into a small room to receive the necessary starting items. He then deliberately took his time chatting with the NPC, waiting for all the players who had heard his name to leave the building before he dared to step outside.
