This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist

Chapter 1056: 1056 Divine Game My World 1

Rita returned to her room and explored a bit more. Nivalis and B80 had already searched every corner. Finally, she heard the sound of a scroll unfolding. A familiar light screen appeared in the center of the living room, displaying the rules of this game.

Divine Game 23189 My World

Game Start Countdown 00:29:59

Game Content: A world will be randomly selected. Players must develop their world and keep it alive until the end.

Game Duration: 50 Starsea days

Game Difficulty: Abyss

Game Rules Abyss

At game start, the number of personality tags selectable for world key players is five. The number of world key players cannot exceed five. The divine talents of key players will not exceed SS rank.

After a world is destroyed, players may join a new world and continue the game. Following the new world to the end still grants rewards based on contribution. The number of times a player may switch worlds while retaining eligibility is three.

Upon complete elimination, the player's original world outside the game will receive penalties based on the time of elimination and the star tier of the world at the moment of defeat.

Special Game Mechanics

During this Divine Game, all players may remain in contact with the outside world. Communication is limited to the public phones in the cruise ship lobby. Daily call time is ten minutes.

Player pets may freely travel between the war cruise ship and the player's world.

Outside the deck arena, player skills cannot affect other players.

Players are forbidden from leaving the war cruise ship by any means. For every three seconds outside, all attributes decrease by one percent.

Player rooms are only accessible from 11 PM to 7 AM. At all other times, players must remain outside their rooms.

When Rita finished reading, the light screen condensed into a color shifting sphere.

So this was the world selection.

She reached out and touched the sphere, about fifteen centimeters across. The moment her fingers made contact, the sphere's pulsing accelerated.

A few seconds later, a notification sounded.

Congratulations, player. You have drawn the starting world Beacon. Please select or create your world key players.

The sphere transformed into a planet wrapped in a sea of red flowers. The blossoms drifted across the surface like dandelion fluff carried by the wind. Through the moving petals, the planet beneath looked soft and white, like a cloud.

Rita's hand clenched abruptly. The small world shattered with a dull burst, scattering into flower rain and cloud wisps before slowly gathering again above her fist.

She stood still for a moment, then relaxed her grip. Her long fingers opened, allowing the red and white planet to settle gently back into her palm.

The clock on the wall pointed to 6:35.

The Divine Game never granted this much preparation time without reason. The last time had been in Chaotic Blocks, meant to give players time to adjust their structures. Rita stopped fixating on whether Beacon was good or bad.

The rules were clearly incomplete. Most of the real mechanics were hidden within the randomly assigned world. She needed to create her key players as soon as possible to unlock more prompts.

Once the world was assigned, the red sphere unfolded into a massive screen. At the top appeared a line from the Abyss tier rules.

Number of world key players available: 5

Personality tags available: 5

Below that line, two shadowy Vine silhouettes appeared, one on the left and one on the right. She needed to choose a gender.

Did choosing a world automatically lock in the race?

Rita did not hesitate. She tapped the Vine representing female. The other silhouette vanished. The chosen Vine expanded to occupy the left third of the screen, while the remaining two thirds filled with personality tags.

Kind

Compassionate

Emotionally expressive

Extremely rational

Selfish

Pragmatic

Bold

Efficient

Strong willed

Optimistic

Affectionate

Romantic

Realistic

Perfectionist

Cunning

Greedy

Self centered

Just

She had never realized a single being could be broken down into so many traits.

At this point, the nature of this Divine Game had already become clear.

Players were acting as world servers, much like how BS had chosen her to determine its direction.

Would these key players also be sent to play games like they were?

As soon as the thought crossed her mind, a line appeared at the bottom of the screen.

At each full hour, players may dispatch their key players to participate in the Divine Game. Each round lasts five minutes. Based on their personality and abilities, they will return with different gifts and rewards for the world.

Right. Even more obvious now.

This was a server management simulation. From the world's perspective, players were starting to look a lot like Traveling Frog.

If they were going to participate in the Divine Game, Rita paused briefly on Extremely Rational, then dismissed it.

She remembered what B80 had said about the importance of emotion and feeling. Many of her own skills had been awakened during moments of intense emotion.

She dragged Strong Willed onto the Vine.

In the lower right corner, the previously dim text Select Divine Talent lit up.

That meant she could move on. But remembering that BS had only ever had her, Rita tried dragging a second personality tag onto the Vine.

The data at the top changed immediately.

Number of world key players available: 3

Personality tags available: 3

So every key player had to have at least one personality tag. Missing tags directly reduced the number of key players.

Rita hesitated for only a few seconds before continuing.

Better one elite than five mediocrities.

She dragged the following tags onto the Vine.

Strong Willed

Greedy

Cunning

Emotionally Expressive

Strong Willed meant pressing forward without wavering.

Greedy brought ambition and desire, powerful drivers for growth.

Cunning meant adaptability and deception, the intelligence to break rules when needed.

Emotionally Expressive aided skill comprehension and helped the key player form emotional ties to the world, naturally fostering responsibility when they reached higher positions.

Only then did Nivalis, who had been watching quietly, speak up.

Aside from Cunning, the rest look exactly like your personality template.

B80 objected. She is not that emotionally expressive.

It is enough that she is expressive with us, Nivalis insisted. Then she frowned. What I do not get is why you chose Cunning. I thought you would pick Cautious.

Cunning includes a degree of caution, Rita said calmly. It is a very comprehensive trait.

B80 asked, Then what is the last one?

Rita studied the list for a full five minutes before selecting the final tag.

Strategic Thinking.

As she chose, the familiar notifications echoed in her ears.

You are being watched.

You are being watched.

Irritated, she frowned and glanced up at the ceiling, shooting it a subtle glare.

Enough staring. What is so interesting to look at?

The next stage was divine talents. They ranged from C to SS rank, but only the names were visible. The effects were hidden. Rita simply ate a box of Let It Die cuisine, wrote down all S and SS rank divine talents on slips of paper, and drew one at random.
