Limitless Fortune: I Collect SSS-Rank Skills as Payment

Chapter 146: A Rare Rank Axe

Only, the axe was so large and so heavy that its tip crashed into the ground, piercing through solid stone and leaving deep cracks behind. Its blade was forged of a dark, heavy metal with a brutal sharpness, thick and towering enough to dwarf Lucien sitting beside it.

"Another rare rank weapon."

"Damn, the Goldveil family is so wealthy?"

"No wonder Duke Castor paid attention to them."

Without a doubt, it was yet another rare rank artifact, in the same rank as that scythe.

Of course, everyone was surprised—and this time, even more so than before.

If taking out one rare rank artifact was about showing off a collection, pulling out yet another one, and the very type Balthor had asked for, was an entirely different matter.

To be honest, the moment Lucien took out the axe from the Dimensional Vault, the atmosphere in the entire chamber shifted completely.

Especially Balthor and Kurma—although they were rivals—they were now exchanging looks as if plotting something together.

If not for Velmara's existence, Lucien would have been in great trouble right now.

"Oi, big guy… why don't you answer? Is it enough or not?"

Lucien, of course, noticed the sudden shift in the atmosphere, the heavy breaths of excitement, and the raw, naked greed pressing down on him like an almost suffocating weight.

But he didn't care—or rather, he was actually quite happy.

"Hmm? Of… of course, Sir Lucien. This axe is perfect for this mission. So…"

Balthor heard Lucien and answered with a little stammer in his excitement. He was already falling in love with that impressive axe, massive enough for his body type.

If not for his previous trauma of being thrown like a doll, he would have run forward and grabbed that thing right out of Lucien's hand.

He was just trying his luck and got such a big surprise suddenly. Now, he didn't even know what to say.

After all, even he knew his earlier proposal was too stupid. How could Lucien believe him when even he himself didn't?

"Then take it."

"Swoosh!"

However, to everyone's surprise, Lucien once again did something completely out of the ordinary as he grabbed the massive axe with his left arm and flung it straight at Balthor.

Even though the weapon looked impossibly heavy and unshakable, he tossed it so casually that it looked effortless.

But no one cared about that detail—they were too stunned by the fact that Lucien handed over such a rare, high-ranking weapon so lightly, as if it were worthless.

For a moment, everyone thought there had to be some twist and waited to see what would follow.

Even Balthor, holding the axe he had long desired, stood frozen as if afraid to believe a pie had really fallen from the sky.

"What? Didn't I say it's a deal? This is the weapon you want—now give me the head of that Viscount, just as you promised. Simple, right?"

Lucien caught the stupid look on the giant's face and smirked, then leaned back in the chair, his hand leisurely caressing the smooth curve of Helena's thighs.

From his behaviour, it seemed he really was serious and wasn't joking at all.

"W-Why?"

But such behaviour of his managed to baffle Balthor so much that he couldn't help but ask, 'Why? '

After all, this just didn't make sense.

The only reason why Lucien would give him this weapon was because he trusted him.

But… that itself didn't make sense.

After all, he was a stranger, and even someone who had behaved rudely to him. Yet, he was given his dream weapon so lightly.

The Giant's small brain couldn't comprehend such a ploy, so he could only ask for an answer, even forgetting to admire the shimmering axe in his hand.

"Why?"

Lucien saw the look on Balthor and rolled his eyes, speechless. Couldn't he just keep quiet and take it?

Why look for an answer?

Lucien was annoyed but still replied with whatever came into his mind as he felt that this Giant was one of a kind.

"Because I trust you. After all, Giants are known for their loyalty, aren't they?"

Lucien said lightly, then ignored him and focused on others,

"Okay, who else wants to accept my mission? As long as you give me a promise, you can take a weapon of your choice. After completing the goal, you can take it for yourself."

He said, finding it absurd even to himself. But with how he gave Balthor that Axe, he believed that these guys would believe his nonsense.

"Sir Lucien, I also accept your mission."

Sure enough, the first one to accept the mission was Kurma, who directly jumped from his place, landing directly at the side of Balthor.

Although he felt that there was some fishy stuff going on here, Kurma didn't want to miss this chance.

As long as he had that Scythe in his hand, his power would double immediately, and with his uncanny methods, he was sure that he could leave this place unscathed even if Velmara tried to chase him down.

"Oh? What mission do you want to do?"

Lucien saw Kurma and asked. After all, didn't Balthor just accept the mission of killing the Viscount?

He didn't feel that there was anything remaining that demanded a rare rank weapon.

"Cough… Sir Lucien, I feel Balthor alone might not be enough to kill that abominable Viscount. After all, he is a beast master and has a beast at the realm of Weaver rank."

Kurma, afraid of losing his opportunity, quickly coughed and blurted out an excuse with a flushed face.

"So, I think if I go along with Balthor, the chances of success will be far greater. Of course, with that weapon in hand, it's almost a guaranteed victory."

He even patted his chest at the end, sparing no effort to secure that Scythe. Now he felt downright foolish for not accepting it earlier.

In Lucien's eyes, such a weapon was worth nothing.

He didn't even care if they ran off later. Poor soul, his poverty-stricken mind had almost made him fall.
