Limitless Fortune: I Collect SSS-Rank Skills as Payment

Chapter 149: Black Sun

As Kurma's voice echoed through the entire chamber, his B-rank Skill, Celestial Weight, activated in full force.

And since his other skill, Veil of Shadow, was already active, a new scenario unfolded on the stage where he and Balthor stood.

"Swish!"

Suddenly, the absolute darkness that sprang from the scythe began to squirm with Kurma's shadow at the center, before a massive sun began to rise behind him, above his head.

Only, since the sun was engulfed in shadow, it looked nothing like a real one. There wasn't even heat, as one would expect.

"Boom!"

But aside from that, it was anything but ordinary.

As soon as the Celestial Weight skill was fully deployed and the massive sun suspended above Kurma's head, a suffocating aura swept through every direction in an instant.

And this aura wasn't invisible like that of Balthor's, as everyone could feel the weight of the dark sun pressing on their very being, even from afar.

Even Lucien could feel the suffocating pressure rushing in his direction, rendering him immobile.

If not for Velmara shielding him and Helena right after, even he would have had a hard time moving.

Of course, he could still tear this force apart once he activated his Physique and used his strength.

But it only went to show how powerful this skill was.

"Heh… Balthor, see this skill? Did you forget what its greatest use is?"

While everyone else was struggling to move or at least resist the suffocating pressure, Kurma smirked at the Giant who stood rooted to the spot.

"My Sun can immobilize anyone within its range, as long as I can maintain it. So… Do you think you can stop me now?"

He asked while focusing the full weight of his skill on Balthor, not letting him move a single muscle.

He couldn't even speak, as the sun's weight behind Kurma grew heavier and heavier with each passing moment.

The suffocating pressure and the crushing weight that even pressed on his soul made the Giant's massive body nearly bend in on itself.

Poor Balthor couldn't even struggle.

This skill was really his nemesis.

Fortunately for him, Kurma wasn't able to control this skill completely, as evidenced by how the aura of the sun was scattered throughout the stadium.

Moreover, everyone could see that the massive black sun behind Kurma was already starting to shrink and increase its weight, which was hard even for him to control.

If it were a fight, Kurma would swing his scythe in a crescent arc at Balthor, hurling the sun at him with its full force.

But he wanted to leave this place, after all, so he didn't do that.

The only reason he revealed this strength was to make sure they wouldn't take him lightly and to secure his way out.

So, after seeing no reaction from Velmara and Lucien, and once Balthor was completely immobilized, Kurma finally began to walk out of the chamber in full view of the public.

"Don't try to act smart when you aren't that capable."

Before leaving, though, he didn't forget to chide Balthor, who could only follow his figure with his eyes.

If not for this stupid giant, he wouldn't have to go through so much trouble just to get out of here.

Fortunately, it seemed only he was crazy enough to stop everyone here.

'Do you want my help?'

Just as Kurma slowly walked off the stage, ready to leave this place, Velmara asked Lucien. Not only him, even Clara was looking at him, thinking about what he would do.

After all, he did say he wanted to kill everyone here. But without help, she didn't see that happening here.

Though she was quite surprised that the Giant was actually Lucien's ally. So, she wanted to see what he would do when the situation was like this already.

If Lucien was really counting on Velmara alone, she would be quite disappointed.

'No need. He is enough.'

But he didn't let her feel that way, as he directly declined Velmara's offer while still smiling faintly, watching the show in front of him.

It was as if he were simply waiting for something to happen.

'He? Do you mean that Giant?'

Velmara asked, tilting his massive head a full 180 degrees to look at the stuck figure of Balthor.

From the aura radiating off that skill, Celestial Weight, he knew there was no way that guy could do anything.

Not to mention, the pressure was increasing steadily, so much so that even when Kurma was almost at the edge of the chamber, ready to leave, it didn't lessen in the slightest.

If anything, it only grew heavier.

'How can he stop him when he cannot even move?'

Velmara thought, feeling puzzled, when suddenly he felt Balthor move, or rather, his finger moved slightly.

'Am I hallucinating?'

Just when he was doubting himself, he saw Balthor suddenly moving his entire arm, although stiffly. At first, the movements were strained and weren't detected by anyone other than Velmara.

But when Balthor took a step back, slowly turning to face Kurma's retreating figure, everyone realized he could indeed move, suddenly out of nowhere, leaving them all stunned.

'Wait… is that skill disappearing all of a sudden?'

Only Velmara felt something different as he looked at the figure of Kurma, who was now smiling with a grin as if he was finally getting out of this place.

Maybe because he thought that after leaving, he truly owned the Scythe given by Lucien. All he had to do was hide for a few years, and everything would be alright.

He didn't believe the Goldveil family would have time to hunt him down.

"Kurma, didn't I say you cannot leave? What are you doing?"

Only, just when he was about to use his token to activate the portal and leave, a rough and angry voice roared from behind, followed by a massive figure jumping right in front of him.

"What? How could you?"

And the person was none other than Balthor, who looked extremely angry at him for making fun of him.

If Kurma really left this place today, even after he said such words, his pride would go down the drain. He wouldn't even be able to show his face in any meetings after today.

'Fortunately, Sir Lucien helped me.'

Balthor thought with endless reverence when he took Lucien's name in his mind.

He didn't even feel his thoughts were odd, but showed endless loyalty to Lucien as if that was the very purpose of his existence.

"How could you? Kurma, don't think your skill is invincible. You dare leave this place even after I warned you? Let me take your head so you can repent."

The Giant was truly furious this time and didn't even speak much anymore.

Instead, he lifted his massive axe, pouring every ounce of his mana into it, and aimed directly at Kurma's neck, intending to kill him in a single strike.

"Wrath Cleaver!"

He even used his most impressive single attack skill, channeling all his power into the strike as if he would cleave the dark sun itself and sever Kurma's head clean off.

"You dare!"

Seeing such a violent attack filled with murderous intent aimed straight at his neck, Kurma's anger flared in return.

He didn't understand how Balthor managed to move while he was still using his skill, but he didn't care anymore. His murderous aura had already reached its peak.

"Bastard! It is you courting death."

Since this idiot wanted to take his life, Kurma was going to take his in return with full force.

After all, his Celestial Weight skill was at its peak, and the Sun behind him had already shrunk to the size of a ball.

If he used this to attack Balthor, even if he didn't die, he would undoubtedly suffer severe injuries. Of course, there would be side effects on Kurma as well, but he didn't care now.

He was utterly sick of this bastard targeting him for no reason.

"Sun of Desolation!"

So, Kurma lifted his crescent-shaped scythe, using it to grasp the dark sun hovering above his head, and hurled it at Balthor with full force.

"DIE, YOU BASTARD!"

The dense black sun that could stop everyone in its range with just its aura alone swirled violently while aiming for Balthor, intending to swallow him alive within its absolute darkness.

It looked so menacing and deadly that even the Giant's axe looked ordinary in its place. It was as if just by its appearance, it won by a huge margin.

It looked as if there was nothing Balthor could do to stop its trajectory.

Only—

"Swish!"

The moment the axe slashed at the swirling mass of the dark sun, something surprising happened that left everyone gawking in shock.

"H-how is this possible?"

Kurma was so shocked that he even forgot to defend for a moment, as if he couldn't believe what he saw in front of his eyes.
