In the World Inside the Vase.
Luo Xiu sat on the grass, looking at the enormous, mountain-like white fatty standing before him. The longer he looked, the more bizarre the sight became.
Master Ping tilted his head back and guzzled a mouthful of strong liquor, letting out a cry of satisfaction.
"Hah... This Imperial Marrow Brew really hits the spot."
"Master Ping is only now realizing that having a body of flesh and blood has its own pleasures."
"Let's get down to business," Luo Xiu said.
Master Ping waved a fat paw. "Master Ping already told you, that girl Shan Shan is fine."
"Then where is she?"
"Hah, don't even get me started. Just mentioning that girl gets Master Ping all fired up!"
Luo Xiu stared at him curiously.
Master Ping plopped onto the ground, his expression one of utter anguish. "She came here before and conned Master Ping out of a ton of Heaven and Earth Treasures I'd spent years collecting, so I had to get her out of here quick."
"Anyway, don't worry. She's safe now. She went to the Stunning Phoenix Swan State, and by now she's probably already met Xi Yue."
Luo Xiu then remembered that Master Ping possessed a mysterious ability to send people to other worlds.
"Then send me over, too. I want to find Xi Yue and the others."
"Can't do it."
"Why not?"
"It's not that Master Ping won't send you," Master Ping said. "It's just that the Stunning Phoenix Swan State is the world of the Stunning Phoenix Emperor. It's protected by a Formation that only allows women to enter. Men can't get in."
He added, "Of course, it's not impossible to forcibly send you, but Master Ping can't manage that right now."
Luo Xiu looked utterly exasperated.
Master Ping chuckled. "Don't worry about them. They're doing great in the Stunning Phoenix Swan State, at least a lot better than you are at the moment."
Luo Xiu lay back on the grass, pillowing his hands behind his head. "Well, that's good to hear," he said with a laugh.
Lin Shanshan and Snow Kirin were safe. Master Ping had even sent them to the Stunning Phoenix Swan State to reunite with Lin Xiyue. Knowing this, Luo Xiu's heart finally relaxed completely.
"Actually, if they had stayed with me, life probably wouldn't have been easy," Luo Xiu mused. "From now on... I'll likely be living every day in a storm of blood and carnage."
"Master Ping misses the days when we fought and killed side by side," Master Ping laughed.
Luo Xiu glanced at him. "Speaking of which, you don't seem very surprised to see me alive again, and so handsome at that."
Master Ping gave a sly grin. "Shan Shan came here a while back and told Master Ping the gist of what happened to you. And just now, when you shattered my Dao Law God Chain from the outside, Master Ping knew it had to be you."
"Of course, Master Ping actually knew long ago that you wouldn't die in the Ludi Calamity."
"How did you know?" Luo Xiu asked, astonished.
Master Ping just smiled without saying a word.
Back when he was absorbing the Divine Vine Dao Lemon and stepping into the Emperor Realm, Master Ping had glimpsed Luo Xiu's future. In those visions, Luo Xiu was fated to face several great calamities and ultimately die in battle, but not in the Ludi Calamity.
Of course, this wasn't the kind of thing Master Ping could just announce. He had to keep it locked away in his heart. Seeing the future was, in itself, a violation of the Heavenly Dao. Leaking such heavenly secrets would invite an unknown but terrible price.
"Speaking of which, your original remains... they're still on display in the Memorial Park for people to gawk at, right?"
Luo Xiu nodded. "It feels pretty damn weird. When I went back to see it, I even had to buy a ticket. It was ridiculously expensive."
Master Ping laughed heartily, then added, "What about that sword? Aren't you planning to pull it out?"
Luo Xiu shook his head.
"Why not?" Master Ping asked, puzzled. "That's the power of a god."
Luo Xiu smiled. "I can't even get being human right. What's the point of trying to be a god?"
"Besides, I can't accept the divinity of an Asura."
Master Ping fell silent.
Luo Xiu changed the subject. "Enough about me. Tell me what you've been up to all these years."
Master Ping thought for a moment before saying, "Not long after the Ludi Calamity, we left Earth."
"Luo Ying, Luo Qianye, and Dou Dou all went to the Stunning Phoenix Swan State. Kuang Pi, Xiao Luanzi, Lei Luan, and Pig Dragon are currently out tempering themselves in various realms. If fate allows it, you'll meet again."
"As for my disciple, I sent her to the Celestial Realm."
Luo Xiu frowned. "Mu Xueyan?"
"Yes."
"Why did you send her to the Celestial Realm?"
Master Ping shot him a look. "What? Can't Master Ping send his own disciple to a better place to develop?"
Luo Xiu shrugged. "Go on."
"As for Xi Yue, Qian Qing, Yueyue, and Xiao Yi, they ascended much later," Master Ping continued. "But Master Ping had already left Dao Technique imprints on them. The moment they arrived, I went straight to find them and sent them to the Stunning Phoenix Swan State."
"And you?" Luo Xiu asked.
"Master Ping, of course, has been running all over the place," he laughed.
"About a dozen years ago, Master Ping found a Star Core here in the Tianhe and has been absorbing it ever since. When I got bored, I even built a dojo and forcibly captured some people to serve as my War Slaves. Those are the guys you saw earlier."
"What's a Star Core?" Luo Xiu asked curiously.
"To put it simply, it's the core of a planet. Let Master Ping tell you, the spiritual power contained in this thing is practically infinite."
"Then why not move it to the Land of Lawlessness?" Luo Xiu suggested.
"You little rascal… all you ever think about is how to get your hands on Master Ping's treasures, huh?"
Luo Xiu laughed. "Speaking of which, I've run into some trouble with my cultivation."
"Oh? Come on, tell Master Ping all about it."
Luo Xiu sighed. "Not long ago, I ran into Luo Hao. We fought... and I lost."
"He's a match for you?" Master Ping asked in surprise.
Luo Xiu gave a bitter smile. "I didn't expect it either. I guess I got too arrogant."
"What happened then?"
"Later, on Calamity Extermination Island, I stripped away my own Life-bound Green Lotus."
Master Ping's eyes widened. "Damn, you're one ruthless bastard, aren't you? You can just strip that thing out yourself?"
"It's a long story," Luo Xiu said. "In short, I don't want my path of the Dao to be confined within a single lotus. I myself am creation."
"That makes sense." Master Ping nodded, looking at Luo Xiu intently. "Then what about the side effects of your Nine Yang Constitution?"
"Right now, I can only avoid using my original cultivation as much as possible to slow the onset of the side effects."
"Fortunately, during those forty years in the Divine Oracle Cave Heaven, Yan'er took root and grew on me, so she can help me suppress the side effects to some extent."
"But that's not a long-term solution," Master Ping said.
"You're only fine now because your body is still young. Once more time passes, you'll end up just like you were back on Earth."
"I know. Master Ping, my problem now is that if I want to keep improving my cultivation, my only option is the path you mentioned before: build a Second Dantian and then refine Dao Jade."
After a quiet moment, Master Ping said, "Speaking of which, over the years, Master Ping has actually found quite a few materials to help you build a Second Dantian. I just knew that one day you'd be back and would need them."
Hearing this, Luo Xiu looked at him, moved.
"Whoa, don't look at me like that! Master Ping isn't interested in men." He continued, "Right now, we're just missing the last three materials."
"Which three?"
"A Dao Crystal, a Life-Forfeiture Flower, and Celestial Nourishing Grass."
"The Dao Crystal is the hardest to find. As for the Life-Forfeiture Flower and Celestial Nourishing Grass, they probably don't exist in the Upper Realm; I reckon you'd only find them in the Celestial Realm." He thought for a moment, then added, "Of course, there might be one other place you could find them without having to go to the Celestial Realm."
"Where?"
"The Divine Oracle Cave Heaven."
"Looks like I'll have to give it a try, then," Luo Xiu said.
"But there's no rush. We brothers have finally reunited. We need to have a proper drink."
