Extra's Path To No Harem

Chapter 159: Gifts By Anna

What greeted me when I returned to my quarters after finishing my usual training…

Was Berno, standing in front of a massive box with a deeply puzzled expression.

"Young master. A package has arrived from the Imperial Palace."

"…What?"

I stared at the box, then at him.

"Why would the Imperial Palace send me a package? Are you sure it isn't a mistake?"

"I don't believe so," Berno replied, pointing to the label. "Your name is clearly written as the recipient. Shall I open it?"

"W–wait. Give me a moment," I said quickly. "I need to prepare myself mentally first."

The Imperial Palace.

Why now?

I'd had no contact with them until recently. No requests, no correspondence—nothing that would justify something like this.

Then a thought crossed my mind.

Ah… right.

Anna.

She had visited me not long ago and mentioned a reward.

'Could this be what she was talking about?'

But it hadn't even been a few days. To prepare something and send it this fast…

As expected of the Imperial Princess.

That kind of efficiency really did suit the future Emperor.

"…Alright," I exhaled. "Go ahead and open it."

After giving myself a brief moment to steady my nerves, I nodded.

Berno carefully opened the package.

"This is—"

The first thing he pulled out was a black formal suit.

At a glance, it was elegant and refined, its fabric smooth and faintly lustrous under the light. Even to my untrained eye, it was clearly no ordinary garment.

But what caught my attention wasn't the suit itself.

It was Berno's reaction.

His eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, he simply stared—silent, stiff, as if he'd just seen something he wasn't supposed to.

"…Berno?"

He swallowed.

"Young master," he said slowly, his voice unusually tense, "this suit…"

Something about the way he spoke made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

"…It isn't just expensive."

I frowned.

He stared at me with his eyes wide open, as if he genuinely couldn't believe my reaction.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Don't you know?" he said, almost scandalized. "This outfit was made by Saberoi…!"

Saberoi?

The name rang a faint bell.

"Ah," I said after a moment, "the Imperial-exclusive designer?"

I remembered now. There had been an extra character like that in the comic—a prodigy who supplied garments solely to the Imperial family thanks to his absurd level of skill. A man whose creations alone were enough to elevate one's status.

So this outfit came from him.

Still, my reaction remained lukewarm.

As someone who had absolutely no interest in fashion, I couldn't bring myself to care. No matter how special or expensive clothes were, at the end of the day, they were still just clothes. I'd never understood the mindset of people who placed value and pride in luxury items.

"I see."

"'I see' is not enough!" he burst out. "Do you have any idea what this outfit represents?!"

…No.

No, I really don't, man.

Seeing my indifferent reaction, Berno suddenly grew animated.

"The ultimate in comfort, crafted from only the finest fabrics!" he declared enthusiastically. "Every design that comes from Saberoi's hands satisfies people of all ages and genders—it's the pinnacle of luxury!"

"R-really…?" I replied, unsure how to react.

"That's why only members of the Imperial family are allowed to wear these clothes in the Empire!" he added, his eyes practically shining.

Why is he getting this excited all of a sudden?

I could only stare at Berno in bewilderment as he continued praising Saberoi's suits without pause. The way he spoke—his tone, his passion—

He looked exactly like an otaku gushing over something he deeply loved.

"But then… why give it to me?" I asked.

"That's what I want to know," Berno said, finally calming down a little. "I honestly don't understand why they'd send something like this to you, young master."

Ah…

I really didn't want to get tangled up in anything complicated. The last thing I needed was unwanted attention or criticism because of something like this.

Still, after a moment's thought, I decided to let it go.

Anna was known for her sharp mind. If this gift had reached me, then she must have already taken care of any problems that could arise.

At least… that's what I chose to believe.

To figure out what the remaining gifts were, I reached for the next item without hesitation.

"…This is—"

A cube-shaped lump of metal rested heavily in my palm.

The moment I saw it, recognition hit me.

Magnerium.

Among rare minerals with special properties, this one stood out as particularly unusual. Its magnetic force was absurdly strong, and its mana conductivity was exceptional—yet aside from that, it was considered almost useless. Too niche. Too impractical.

At least, that was the common opinion.

For me, though, it was different.

This was one of the materials I had been desperately searching for.

One of my abilities is magnetism. Until now, I could only use it in crude ways—pushing, pulling, simple attraction and repulsion. Effective, but limited.

This metal might change that.

I gathered my mana and slowly infused it into the Magnerium.

For a brief moment, nothing happened.

Then—

The metal cube lifted gently into the air.

It hovered there, perfectly still, responding to my intent as if it were an extension of my own body.

"…As expected."

A grin spread across my face.

This was exactly what I'd hoped for.

With Magnerium as a medium, my magnetic ability wasn't just stronger—it was refined. Instead of crude forces, I could now guide movement precisely, freely, almost intuitively.

I willed it to move.

The cube glided left, then right, rose higher, spun in place, and stopped on a dime.

It felt less like magnetism now and more like—

"Telekinesis," I muttered, half in disbelief.

Just like something out of a movie.

I continued experimenting, pushing its limits, testing speed, control, and responsiveness. The more I moved it, the clearer its potential became.

When I finally let the Magnerium settle back into my hand, I exhaled in satisfaction.

"…Yeah. I can do a lot with this."

Very much so.
