The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 286: Good Luck to Yourself!

Upon hearing this, the crowd was stunned for a moment before the reality of the situation dawned on them. Everyone now understood that Zhang Hua was determined to reclaim the shares from Chen Zheng. They had been quite displeased when their chairman gave the shares away, so winning them back now would be a cause for celebration.

After all, in their eyes, Zhang Hua simply couldn't lose.

If Chen Zheng accepted the bet, on the other hand, he would have to return the shares he had only just obtained.

"Vice President Zhang, Mr. Chen was just expressing his opinion. You don't have to take it so seriously!" Feng Yueyue said, suddenly anxious. She knew exactly what Zhang Hua was trying to do, but it was unheard of for her father to take back something he had given away. If that happened, he would be furious.

"It doesn't matter. I accept your terms," Chen Zheng replied, his expression remaining perfectly calm.

The crowd was stunned. They couldn't believe Chen Zheng had actually agreed. It was as if he'd been drinking counterfeit liquor before coming to the meeting. The others simply shook their heads, believing Chen Zheng was being far too greedy.

"Mr. Chen, what are you…?" Feng Yueyue was utterly confused, trying to understand what he was doing.

"There's no need to say anything more. It will all become clear when the market opens," Chen Zheng said with a dismissive wave.

"The market is open!" someone exclaimed just as the clock struck the hour.

"Hahaha! Just as I expected! Muxi Muxi is falling again!" The crowd roared with laughter as they watched the data.

"Mr. Chen, it looks like you'll be returning that ten percent of yours," Zhang Hua said smugly.

The stock began to plummet uncontrollably from the very start, leaving no suspense as to the outcome.

"Vice President Zhang, don't celebrate too early," Chen Zheng said, slowly shaking his head, his expression unchanging.

"I really don't know where you get your confidence from. I hope you don't regret this later!"

"See? See? It's still dropping!"

"It's falling again! And again!"

The crowd could barely contain their laughter as they watched the data, casting sympathetic glances at Chen Zheng. The fool had dug his own grave and jumped right in. By this point, nearly everyone was certain that the ten percent stake was securely in Zhang Hua's pocket.

"What's going on? Why is it suddenly rising?" someone shouted.

The crowd snapped their attention back to the data screens. Sure enough, the numbers were slowly starting to bounce back.

"It's just a dead cat bounce. It'll drop again soon," Zhang Hua scoffed, unconcerned.

However, after just a few minutes, the stock's value had doubled. The crowd stared, mouths agape. This represented a swing of hundreds of millions. How could something like this happen without some major event?

"Could someone be manipulating the market?" Feng Yueyue cried out in alarm.

"Check who's operating behind the scenes," she ordered, turning to her assistant.

The assistant acted immediately. A moment later, they looked up, face pale with shock. "Miss Feng…"

"The manipulator behind this is Ronghua Group!"

"Ronghua Group?"

"They're interested in Muxi Muxi too?"

"Shorting the stock and then buying on the rise… what a brilliant maneuver!"

The expressions on everyone's faces changed as they began to discuss the matter urgently. The stock was still skyrocketing. At this rate, Ronghua Group stood to make over a billion by the time it leveled off. Ronghua Group was their direct competitor, and a sum of over a billion could be decisive in any future confrontations.

"Miss Feng, it's only gone up five percentage points. There's still time to act," Chen Zheng said calmly.

"But…" Feng Yueyue hesitated. She couldn't just stand by and watch Ronghua Group rake in a fortune.

"Miss Feng, shouldn't we consult the Chairman first?" Zhang Hua asked, his face covered in a cold sweat. He was completely out of his depth.

"By the time you finish that call, it'll be up another two percentage points," Chen Zheng reminded her.

"Act now!" Feng Yueyue made a snap decision and gave the order.

Any hesitation now would only widen the gap between them and their rival. Fortunately, they acted quickly enough. While Ronghua Group bought 1.5 million shares, they managed to acquire 1 million, keeping the gap from getting too large.

Seeing this, Feng Yueyue let out a long sigh of relief. Others in the room also wiped the sweat from their brows. Although a 500,000-share gap remained, it wasn't insurmountable. They could live with this result.

At that moment, all eyes turned to Chen Zheng, their expressions a complex mix of emotions. If not for him, Ronghua Group would have made over a billion today, a devastating blow to their company.

Zhang Hua's expression was even uglier. They had made a bet: the loser would have to give up their shares. Those shares were his life's work. He couldn't bear the thought of giving them up just like that.

"Mr. Chen, we truly have you to thank for this. But about Vice President Zhang's shares…" Feng Yueyue glanced at Zhang Hua. The man had contributed significantly to the group and had always treated her well. She couldn't bear to see him lose his entire fortune in an instant.

"Forget it," Chen Zheng said, shaking his head slowly. "It was just a joke. I didn't take it seriously."

"Just be more careful in your future contests against them."

With that, Chen Zheng slowly stood and walked out of the room. He didn't want to get any more involved. He had done all he could; the rest was up to them.

As he left, everyone in the room rose to their feet, their eyes filled with immense respect.

He had barely stepped out the door when several black Audis immediately surrounded him.

Then, a Lamborghini pulled up, and an arrogant-looking woman stepped out. "You! The quack who sells fake medicine! Stop right there!"

"My grandfather is in trouble, and it's all because of your pills!" Sun Doudou yelled furiously. "You'd better have a perfect explanation for me today!"

She pointed an accusing finger at Chen Zheng, her voice trembling with rage. "There's nothing I hate more than charlatans who sell fake medicine, and you've finally fallen into my hands!"

"What are you all waiting for? Tie him up! I'm going to teach him a lesson today!"

At her command, the bodyguards immediately charged toward Chen Zheng.
