The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 365: Pay to Pass!

After entering Yanzhou, they headed straight for Tai'an. The road gradually became more remote. At one point, a roadblock suddenly appeared ahead of them, clearly set up to stop travelers. The area was wide open, with no houses in sight, so the sudden appearance of an obstacle like this immediately sparked suspicion.

Seeing this, Wang Rui and her family immediately grew tense.

Just as Zhao Feng stopped the car, a bald man with several henchmen walked over and began knocking aggressively on the window.

Zhao Feng slowly lowered the car window. "What's the matter?"

"Two hundred yuan to pass," the bald man said impatiently, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"This is a public road. What right do you have to charge a toll?" Zhao Feng frowned.

"Cut the crap. If you don't want to pay, you can turn back," the bald man sneered. "This is the fastest route. Go ahead, try the other way if you've got the guts!"

Chen Zheng, who had been resting with his eyes closed, slowly opened them and frowned.

Someone is actually charging a toll? Isn't this just robbery?

Before Chen Zheng even needed to speak, Zhao Feng took action.

He threw the car door open, slamming it into the bald man. The man let out a pained scream and collapsed. When he scrambled back to his feet, his face was covered in blood, giving him a fierce and terrifying appearance.

"You dare hit me? Get them!" the bald man ordered, and one of his henchmen rushed forward.

However, within minutes, Zhao Feng had dealt with all of them. It was clear that these toll collectors were nothing more than small fry.

"Kid, you've got some moves. Just you wait until I get my guys here!" the bald man threatened. "Do you have any idea whose turf this is? My cousin is the real boss around here. You're in deep trouble now!"

Hearing that their opponent had connections to the criminal underworld, Wang Rui's family, who had been ready to watch the show, suddenly grew nervous.

No matter how skilled you are, you can't take on the local gangs, can you?

Most importantly, they were in the middle of nowhere. If real trouble started, there would be no escape.

"Please, sir! Don't! It's just the toll, right? I'll pay you right now!" Wang Rui scrambled out of the car, nervously offering the money. "Please don't call anyone else!"

"Smart girl," the bald man grunted. He snatched her entire wallet and then let his eyes rove lecherously over her long legs. A different kind of thought flashed in his eyes.

"Well now, I didn't realize there was such a pretty lady in the car. If I'd known, you wouldn't have needed to pay any toll at all! Why don't I just save you the trouble?"

With that, the bald man pulled Wang Rui into his embrace, his hands beginning to grope her.

"What are you doing?!" Wang Rui shrieked, never imagining he would dare to touch her. She shoved him away and slapped him hard across the face.

"You bitch! You dare to hit me?" The bald man roared in fury, raising his hand to strike her back.

But in that instant, he saw a flash of light from the corner of his eye and felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his hand. His eyes shot wide open. He looked down. All the fingers on his hand were gone. Not a single one remained.

"My hand... My fingers!" The bald man fell to the ground, screaming in agony.

His henchmen were frozen in shock and disbelief. They were just petty street thugs; they had never witnessed anything like this.

To sever all of someone's fingers in a single move?

Wang Rui's family was terrified out of their wits, their faces deathly pale. They had never imagined that someone from their escort could be so ruthless.

To cut off a man's fingers just like that? A chill ran down their spines.

"You should be grateful it was your fingers and not your head," Zhao Feng said with an icy glare before getting back into the driver's seat.

"What are you all waiting for? Get in!" Zhao Feng barked. Only then did Wang Rui hurry back to the car.

Zhao Feng sped away.

"What are you idiots standing there for?!" the bald man shrieked. "Get me to a hospital! And keep your eyes on that car! Don't let them get away! Call my cousin right now!"

His fingers could still be reattached, but the cost would be astronomical. He swore he would make that man pay dearly.

"General, we've got cars following us," Zhao Feng said quietly, glancing at the rearview mirror.

"This is it, we're done for..." Wang Rui's mother stammered in a panic, her back drenched in sweat. "Those are the worst kind of people to cross! We should have just given them the money! Why did you have to cut off his fingers? Now look at the mess we're in!"

"If it comes to that, we should just call the police," Wang Rui said, biting her lower lip. After all, she knew Zhao Feng likely wouldn't have acted so ruthlessly if not for her.

"Call the police? What good would that do?" Wang Rui's father snorted. "They operate so openly out here. Do you really think the police can do anything? Didn't you hear that thug? His cousin is the boss of this whole area!"

At his words, fresh beads of sweat trickled down the foreheads of both mother and daughter.

The car stopped at an intersection, and Wang Rui's mother frantically tapped the back of Zhao Feng's seat. "Stop the car! You caused this mess! It has nothing to do with us! We don't need a ride from you anymore. Let us out right now!"

"That's right! This has nothing to do with us! We're leaving!" Wang Rui's father chimed in.

"Exactly," Wang Rui added with a cold snort. "I have no idea why that good-for-nothing Li Dali sent you to us in the first place. All you've done is cause trouble!"
