The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 376: A Luxurious Wedding Banquet

Just after eleven o'clock, they finally arrived at a farmstead resort—the wedding venue they had booked!

The square was packed, a veritable sea of people.

Li Hui was there, of course. When he arrived, he was somewhat surprised by the luxurious decorations. Outdoor weddings on the grass… this is the kind of thing you only see on television; it's so rare in real life.

Still, he was the most popular person there. Many people greeted him, and he was confident that he would be the one to give the best gift later.

But just then, the roar of engines cut through the chatter.

"The newlyweds are here!" someone shouted.

Li Hui watched in shock through a window as over twenty sports cars drew closer, his face a mask of astonishment. Is this Li Dali's wedding procession?

Renting a fleet like that can't be cheap.

Facts spoke louder than words. As the cars pulled up to the entrance of the farmstead resort, Li Dali stepped out of one with Wang Rui.

The moment they saw Wang Rui, everyone was stunned.

Wang Rui was dressed to perfection. In her bridal gown, she was breathtakingly beautiful, instantly becoming the center of everyone's attention.

They stopped right at the entrance, greeting their relatives and friends while waiting for the auspicious time. Except for the best man and bridesmaid, the rest of the guests began to take their seats.

Chen Zheng followed Li Dali to the entrance, but then his expression suddenly changed. He gestured to Shen Qiu and said, "I think I just caught a glimpse of the Night Watch Legion. Go check it out, quickly."

Shen Qiu nodded. She scanned the area before quickly walking over to him, her expression turning grave. "I'm worried something might happen today," she said.

Chen Zheng glanced at Li Dali, who was still busy greeting friends and family, and waved a hand dismissively. Understanding the gesture, Shen Qiu moved to the side. Chen Zheng hurried after her. "What's wrong?"

"Our guards just received a message," Shen Qiu explained. "A large group of players from the Sin Domain passed through our area. There are a lot of them, including dozens of top-tier Mages."

"Hmm?" Chen Zheng was startled for a second, then his eyes grew hard. "Are they coming for us?"

"I'm not sure, but I don't think this wedding will go off without a hitch. My main concern is the number of civilians here. What if we move them all into the restaurant first? Then we can deal with those people," Shen Qiu suggested.

Chen Zheng rubbed the bridge of his nose. "We have to make sure Wang Rui's wedding is perfect, no matter what. You go get some weapons from the Night Watch. Take the lead and help them hold those people off. I have to get back to the ceremony; I'm one of the best men!"

Shen Qiu nodded. "Alright. Having him here will be enough."

"Once we're done, we'll come help you," Chen Zheng added with a sigh.

"Okay, leave it to us," Shen Qiu nodded. "Thankfully, we're in the suburbs where there are fewer people. Otherwise, this would cause a huge commotion."

Chen Zheng nodded in agreement, then added, "Don't tell Wang Rui about this. This is Li Dali's wedding, and we need to make sure it goes perfectly for him."

"Understood," Shen Qiu nodded.

With that, they headed back toward the entrance. Chen Zheng consciously moved closer to Li Dali, who hesitated for a moment before asking, "What's up? What happened?"

Chen Zheng put a hand on his shoulder. "It's nothing. She just told me that Liu Jia is all ready and just waiting for you guys to start the ceremony."

A smile spread across Li Dali's face. "Boss, I really have to thank you!"

"What nonsense are you spouting!" Chen Zheng said with a helpless expression.

"I'm serious!" Li Dali murmured, almost to himself. "Ever since I joined the Night Watch Legion, we've been through so much together, and you've always looked out for me. It was your idea for me to become a sniper. Otherwise, I'd still just be another grunt in the Legion, at risk of being killed at any moment, without even the qualifications to join the vanguard troops!"

It was true. Even now, Li Dali was only a High-Rank. His martial aptitude was quite ordinary. Back at Mount As, he had nearly reached his plateau, but he had never managed to break through to the peak.

This was why he hadn't been chosen for other roles before. Chen Zheng had suggested he take the path of a sniper, and so he became the Night Watch's ace marksman. His god-like aim made everyone wary, and together with Chen Zheng, they formed Battle Team 6654!

He added, "In every past operation, you always put me in the safest position. You even assigned people specifically to guard me. I swear, I was coddled more than a princess, while you were always the first one to charge into danger."

As he spoke, his voice grew thick with emotion. "If it weren't for you, I would've died long ago. I never would have made it to the City of Sin, and I never would have met Wang Rui."

"You brat, you're a grown man. Cut the sentimental crap," Chen Zheng snapped, resisting the urge to kick him. "It's your wedding day, so stop talking nonsense!"

"That's exactly why I'm feeling this way," Li Dali insisted.

He gave a warm smile to the surrounding friends and family, then moved next to Chen Zheng and said, "I mean it. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."

Chen Zheng smiled. "We're brothers. That's all that matters. You don't need to say all this formal stuff; I'm getting sick of it."

PFFT!

Nearby, Liu Shiqi and the others couldn't help but chuckle. Qiu Yu added playfully, "Li Dali, that's enough of that."

"Yeah," Li Dali nodded.

Time ticked by. Soon, it was just after twelve noon, and Liu Jia walked gracefully onto the stage. She hadn't tried to steal the show, wearing only light makeup and a simple dress.

"It's Liu Jia!"

"Holy crap, Liu Jia is emceeing Li Dali's wedding?"

"Li Dali is so damn lucky! Look at all these luxury cars, and now he's got a huge star like Liu Jia as his emcee!"

...

The crowd buzzed with discussion.

In the crowd, Li Hui's head throbbed. He never would have imagined that Liu Jia herself would be emceeing Li Dali's wedding.

In his eyes, Li Dali was just a soldier. In this day and age, a soldier like that was completely useless. Money was everything. And he, Li Hui, was the best earner in the Li family—a fact he took great pride in. But now, it was crystal clear that Li Dali was absolutely not the person he had thought he was. Over twenty luxury cars, the famous Liu Jia as the emcee, a lavish wedding banquet... Every single detail pointed to Li Dali's extraordinary status!

He plopped down onto the grass, his mind a complete blank.
