The Strongest Prodigy Doctor

Chapter 508: Targeting Northern Desolate Wilds

Ye Tianfan had no other choice, but he still thought that if Red Moon really came, it would be better to leave first and come back after a week or two. After all, who knows whether Wu Kong is good or evil; what if he poisoned him while eating? What would he do then!

Actually, Ye Tianfan had not retracted the Mysterious Yellow Tower yet, but had suppressed its glow to the minimum so that if Wu Kong attacked him directly, the Mysterious Yellow Tower would manifest.

This was because Ye Tianfan had never trusted Wu Kong from the beginning.

The Gu Sect being both good and evil was one thing, but trust is another, and Ye Tianfan was still cautious.

Ye Tianfan chatted idly with Wu Kong inside the cave, while outside, the rain poured harder, accompanied by a faint clanging sound.

"Is it hailing again? The weather is truly awful today!" Wu Kong also heard the clanging sound and remarked.

"Does the weather often get this bad?" Ye Tianfan inquired. If the weather was frequently this severe, he would need to prepare ahead of time and find a suitable place to live during his training.

If he couldn't find a cave to shield him from the wind and rain, simply summoning the Mysterious Yellow Tower to shelter him in the desolate desert, being battered by the wind and pelted by the rain, would be quite the ordeal.

Finding a place to sleep would be an issue, with the ground all wet and no dry spot to sit.

At that moment, the clanging stopped, and the rain also ceased.

"Has the hail stopped? Did the rain stop too?" Ye Tianfan asked. If it really was clear outside, he would leave quickly, as the entire Ancient Wilderness was vast. It would probably take at least one or two days to reach North Ancient Wilderness! Hopefully, he's not at the southernmost edge of South Ancient Wilderness.

"Not quite, silence just means they've gotten smaller, and the sound is no longer transmitting underground. Moreover, the array at the cave entrance can block some noise, so we should wait a bit longer," Wu Kong explained.

Then he waved his hand towards the cave entrance, and the sand disguise vanished, turning into a transparent shield where raindrops continued to fall upon.

"Now we can see the outside situation. But speaking of which, the disciples of the righteous path are really diligent. Judging by your age, your strength is about to reach the Thousand Source Realm, your talent must be high, and you work so hard," Wu Kong said with some envy as he looked at Ye Tianfan. "Unlike me, having no talent and having to rely on day-to-day practice, using time to improve strength."

"You can't say it like that. As the saying goes, success is one part talent plus ninety-nine parts effort, so your current hard work will make your strength improvement more stable," Ye Tianfan advised, though he refrained from saying the latter half of that statement, as it would be too disheartening.

"Really? Is that how you see it?" Wu Kong heard these words for the first time; usually, others would tell him that with his poor talent, reaching this level is enough, and there's no need to strive as it wouldn't yield much result, even spending a lifetime might only progress a level or two, which was not worth it.

"Of course. Otherwise, why do you think I'm so diligent? I truly feel that hard work is very important," Ye Tianfan replied, though he internally added that without talent, diligence wouldn't be of much use, especially in cultivation that heavily relies on talent.

"Thank you. I didn't expect even someone as gifted as you would think effort is more important than talent. It seems I've found the motivation to keep going," Wu Kong said with a smile.

Yet from this smile, Ye Tianfan could feel a sense of confidence and happiness.

It seemed Wu Kong had previously been too harshly criticized, to the point that even these non-nutritional words of comfort could provide solace.

Just as Ye Tianfan was still chatting with Wu Kong, suddenly, slivers of sunlight began streaming in through the cave entrance.

"Looks like it's cleared up!" Wu Kong said with some reluctance, seeing the light on the ground. After all, other than his parents, rarely did anyone affirm him like this, and he wished to chat more with Ye Tianfan.

But he also knew Ye Tianfan was very wary of him; after all, the Gu Sect didn't have a good reputation, and Ye Tianfan had to focus on improving his strength. There was no reason for him to stop Ye Tianfan from enhancing his strength.

"Looks like I have to leave," Ye Tianfan said, standing up and smiling at Wu Kong. "Thank you for letting me shelter from the rain here."

"No need, no need, it's okay. It's been a long time since I've had visitors, and you coming here added a bit of life," Wu Kong quickly replied.

"No need to see me off." After Ye Tianfan said this, he headed towards the cave entrance.

Wu Kong watched Ye Tianfan's departing figure, wanting to say something but ultimately remaining silent, watching as Ye Tianfan stepped out of the cave.

"Thank you!" Wu Kong said softly to Ye Tianfan's back.

After Ye Tianfan exited the cave, he was met with a chaotic scene, almost as if he was no longer in the desert, but in a frosty land, with layers of hail mixed with rainwater, creating quite a mess.

"Looks like I can't help but fly!" Ye Tianfan chuckled, summoning the Fire Lotus Sword and flying north.

As he flew, Ye Tianfan felt that the experience was quite different from when he first arrived at the Ancient Wilderness. Back then, the air was murky, filled with swirling dust. Now, however, it was extremely fresh, as if purified, crisp beyond compare.

Glancing down from the sky, Ye Tianfan saw an endless sheet of ice on the ground, as if the recent hail had transported the Ancient Wilderness into an ice age.

However, after a while, the sun became scorchingly hot, and the ice on the ground began to melt.

In less than half a day, the icy layer on the ground was gone, and the scenery reverted to one where the wind would blow, stirring countless particles of sand into the air.

Ye Tianfan was genuinely astonished by this sight, not expecting the sun to be so blazing that it evaporated layers of hail without leaving a trace of moisture. Was this really a place for anyone to live?

Before long, Ye Tianfan spotted a Demon Beast, a lizard-like creature.

"Looks like I've reached the edge of North Ancient Wilderness," Ye Tianfan murmured.

Why did Ye Tianfan say this? Because he noticed, in the distance, scattered appearances of Demon Beasts, and they seemed quite strong.

Thankfully, he wasn't too far from North Ancient Wilderness, arriving in less than half a day. If he'd had to fly for two days and nights, it would've been tough—after rushing for thirteen days before, more travel might have made Ye Tianfan feel sick!
